Hi! I’ve been lurking on this sub and I’ve learnt a lot from people’s advice. I can’t seem to get past here and I’m really struggling to get to the floor. Any advice?

    Square hips

    Posted: 25 Dec 2020 11:23 AM PST

Why is having square hips when doing splits and similar stuff so important? I heard that it can led to muscular imbalance and hurt your lower back, but how exactly? And why do ballerinas do everything with open hips then or am I missing something (I'm not a ballerina, so I don't know much about technique and turnout except that it is very important in ballet)?
