| Posted: 11 Dec 2020 03:19 AM PST I do. I experienced it briefly early on in my meditation journey, but for this "awakening" to happen it took a little over a year of consistent meditation until something finally "clicked" for me and I was like, "Whoa! This is like watching a movie or a TV show!" It was relieving to know I didn't have to be caught up in difficult emotions and I could just sit back and observe them. No need to interact or react to them or even judge them. I have learned a lot about "myself" and this has helped to remove a lot of needless suffering from my life and I'm grateful to have stumbled upon this little thing called "Mindfulness." | This year I have spent 6 full weeks in meditation. Posted: 11 Dec 2020 09:13 AM PST I have a meditation timer that chimes every 30 minutes, just so I can keep track of time while I'm in meditation. It also tracks the amount of hours I meditate. Today I crossed the 1000th hour of this year. By the end of the year I will have spent more than 6 weeks out of 52 in meditation, 24/7. I know that is a vanity metric, but when I saw it, it made me feel proud of myself. Just a few years ago I was really struggling with life. I met a great mentor and meditation became an important part of my spiritual practice, the foundation of everything else basically. It has helped me tremendously with insecurities, depression, anxiety, self-sabotage, ... you name it, I had it. I never could have imagined I would be the person I am today: someone who loves life, loves himself and takes good care of himself. So, I'm happy with my vanity metric because it signifies more than just a number. It shows me that I have come a long way, and that I definitely went in the right direction. It took me a while to really get meditation though. I started with 10-15 minutes in the morning and evening, but didn't really see major benefits until I started doing 30 minutes in each session. That's how long it took for me to get out of my head and experience the bliss of just being. Once I felt that, meditation became a non-negotiable part of my day. My sessions continue to grow longer every year. I now do 1 hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. Most days I will do another 30 minutes in the after noon. I also do about 7 or 8 meditation weekends every year, and one long 14 day retreat in the summer. These are kinda strict with about 10 hours of meditation per day. This year we did them via zoom, which was challenging. Sitting in meditation for hours a day is a lot "easier" when you're not in the comfort of your own home. But they definitely helped me get to that 1000th hour. Meditation is one of the most powerful personal growth tools there is. It's free, everybody can do it. If you're not on a daily routine yet, I highly recommend it. Combine it with exercise, a healthy diet and time spent in nature and you will see big changes in yourself. [link] [comments] |

Can Meditation improve your sex life? Posted: 11 Dec 2020 10:07 PM PST Kind of an odd question, but Can Meditation improve your sex life? [link] [comments]
Regularly seeing purple during practice Posted: 11 Dec 2020 08:42 PM PST My vision will go purple while meditating, and often I get pain in the center of my forehead. Does anybody else get this? How did this work itself out for you? [link] [comments]
I feel like theres a force field keeping my neck straight and my head up. Posted: 11 Dec 2020 10:46 PM PST Has anyone experienced this? I've been meditating for 3-4 months and I do 20-40 minutes every day. A couple sessions ago this little "force field" showed up and it keeps my head completely aligned with my spine while I meditate. It's pretty cool I was just wondering if anyone else has felt this. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Dec 2020 10:23 PM PST my 2 year old niece just passed away and i need to give my sister my strength. It was a sudden and cruel death, its currently a ongoing investigation so i cant say any details. A friend of mine is very spiritual and was coaching me in meditation. Im very spiritual but i have almost no experience with this stuff. i was trying to envision a door to find my sister. i could almost see a door but it felt like i was floating in dark water, lost. I kept seeing her face slightly then i saw her floating in the dark water. I couldnt reach her, its like shes lost. my friend said its because her energy is so weak. We sent out as much energy as we could. it felt like electricity leaving my fingertips. I feel drained but also numb, calm. can anyone please give me any advice on meditation and how to help my sister. I need help learning how to do all of this. but if i can take even just a fraction of my sisters pain away i would do anything. thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Difference between presence and being reactionary Posted: 11 Dec 2020 06:23 PM PST These thoughts aren't well-formed, so I'm sorry if they feel rambling. With discernment, I've been running into an issue: when I feel fully present, integrated in the moment—which, in my experience, is the most desirable place to be—I also feel like I'm the most prone to be reactionary to my emotions. But when I'm in thinking mind, I'm able to process the situation and act more skillfully—but obviously this state of being has big disadvantages. Has anyone else experienced this conflict? Can anyone put better words to what I'm perceiving? I just feel like I'm caught between being in the moment—where it kind of feels like I'm relinquishing control—and controlling experience (and over-conceptualizing the moment/situation in the process). I'm sure this is yet another "find the middle path" situation, but was just curious to hear about y'all's experiences [link] [comments]
Which app would you recommend for meditation Posted: 12 Dec 2020 01:54 AM PST Last year I started using Headspace for a few weeks, on and off (first I did like a week of happiness and then another of self worth). Now I've started to realize I'm starting to have unpleasant thoughts, and I wanted to try meditation again. I've heard Simple Habit is one of the best? I did Day 1 of Depression today on Headspace and I'm not sure if I should switch apps. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]
I’m having trouble staying focused during meditation Posted: 12 Dec 2020 01:48 AM PST I started meditation 3 weeks ago after a break up. And I was able to follow routines and stay connected to the routines and follow my breath and notice my thoughts drifting. Now my head feels full of thoughts and every time I try to meditate I get really distracted and I just can't refocus. [link] [comments]
Disappointed in myself after having an outburst at my mum for no reason Posted: 11 Dec 2020 04:58 PM PST A few weeks ago, I told myself I'd never get angry and I was doing well in that regard for the last couple months. Tonight, I randomly started ruminating on my childhood and how controlling I felt my parents were of me. Started comparing myself to other kids and how their parents raised them with more freedom. Started feeling self-pity and anger but told myself I wouldn't release it. But long story short I couldn't hold it in and started going off at my mum. Feel so shit, especially after all the progress I've made from meditating. Thought I was finally done with this angry/feeling bad shit until today. I've meditated quite a bit now and learned a lot about emotions, thoughts etc. So it seems as though all of it has gone down the drain after tonight since I couldn't use all of that to pull myself together. I've had so many of these outbursts throughout my upbringing which just makes me feel like such a shit son. [link] [comments]
Lucid dream while meditating/ spoke to a loved one Posted: 11 Dec 2020 05:57 PM PST Hello. So I used to be quite spiritual, whatever that means, but I guess it's personal to all of us. However recently I've lost connection with that side of me, although I've always known it to be there. ( can anyone else vouche for this where they often find themselves having moments on and off of being spiritual?) Anyway I just did some meditation that I rarely do. Being aware of my feelings, and slowly being aware of my surroundings and then above that. The clouds, my perception of the universe etc.. But when I got to this stage. I started lucid dreaming I think. I pictured my Nan, or grandmother in America I guess, and I felt so so close to her. I feel like we spoke for a while although I know I was only meditating for less than 10 mins at this stage. I was aware of goosebumps all over my body. And I was scared to be honest. However I just let it be and tried to just stay aware of it without freaking out. All I can say is that it was a positive experience and felt like I just made a memory I won't forget. But can anyone tell me what just happened haha. Thanks [link] [comments]
Thinking without actually having a thought? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 01:18 AM PST Hey there Have you ever thought of something but didn't actually have the thought vocalized in your head? Do you know what I mean? You decide to do something or something happens which makes you decide between two things and you think but you don't actually have the thoughts? Do you know what I mean? This is slowly happening more and I was wondering what this means? Is this a symptom of progress? I could take the thought and extend it so that it is vocalized in my head. What do you think? Has it happened to you before? Much love and peace :) [link] [comments]
Should I work hard to manifest the person I want or let go entirely to reveal my inner self ? Posted: 11 Dec 2020 01:07 PM PST It's a man in my mind that I can and want to be. While doing meditations amongst other things I've practically killed my ego aside from the anxiety (gad) I've recently put energy into battling. I'm hyper sensitive like a bitch, so much my inner voice has changed I think he's white or just really lame (no offense y'all). Jokes aside, I can see the vision of immunity to the world; not that I won't feel but I will be happy inside and that is enough. The late great nipsey hussle suggests that one would choose a war in self and peace outside or a peaceful mind facing the tumultuous war Thots? [link] [comments]
The story that hopefully can change millions of lives. Posted: 11 Dec 2020 01:04 PM PST I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for more than five years. It was so difficult going through all this without having someone to talk to for almost two years. Those times were the most difficult of my life where I thought I would never be able to come out of this alive. But as soon as I got help and found people to talk to, that was the light at the end of the tunnel. So I pledged my life to make sure that millions of people can seek and receive help when it's needed. So I spent two years building an AI therapist that can help monitor my mental health through conversational AI human driven intelligence. I thought it can help a lot of people same as it did help me so I thought to be it out there: https://mindhealthai.com/ Please try it out and give me feedback so we can change the world and help millions of people suffering from depression and anxiety around the world [link] [comments]
What are some good FREE mindfulness meditation apps/Youtube etc? Posted: 11 Dec 2020 12:46 PM PST I can't afford Calm/Headspace etc, but the free ones I've been trying are mainly silence and I really benefit from the ones where they keep talking and instruct you on becoming aware of parts of your body, your breathing, etc. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Dec 2020 06:43 AM PST Do you guys fart while meditating or hold it in? Is it similar to scratching an itch in terms of breaking focus? [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Dec 2020 09:57 PM PST I've always wondered this. I use guided meditations mostly, and I want to start meditating on my own but have no idea how I'm going to keep track of the time while meditating. I don't like to count because it distracts me. Help? [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Dec 2020 09:47 AM PST Does anyone else meditate while doing things? I mean from anything like working exercising Ect Ect... I used to sit years ago crossed legged on the floor for hours. But today I feel like I evolved to meditating while living. I have been training my mind for 8 years. Today I can honestly say I live in the present. My mind is always clear day in day out. I still can't control my yelling at the kids when they are not doing what they need to do though I feel like I need to look or pay more attention to my emotions as they arise. This is one thing I have been struggling with is controlling my emotions meaning like anger I mean not like angry angry but that quick anger u get when your kids disobey you. Using them as an example of course. Any tips??? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Dec 2020 05:09 PM PST Can mediation help me with stress?, is there any videos i can watch? [link] [comments]
