Meditation: You can meditate while lying in bed

You can meditate while lying in bed

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 06:12 AM PST

You can meditate while wrestling a bear too, but results may vary.

Just a PSA that no time is a bad time to meditate, even if it's just counting some breaths, doing a body scan, and watching some thoughts come and go. You may fall asleep, but at least you got a couple minutes in, or 30 minutes depending on your mental state.

Speaking too much and cringes, guilts, regrets.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 12:06 AM PST

I did meditation twice yesterday. I have got sort of enlightenment about MY OWN LIFE. I introspected and found that 99% of mistakes that happened in my life had to do with me speaking unnecessarily, telling my goals before I accomplish it...and so on. I was freaking(removed curse word from a great positive vibes sub) surprised.

What is your experience?? Am I on the right path of enlightenment or is this an illusion created my meditation to the deep level?

    I'm dreaming again

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 11:25 PM PST

For a very long time I haven't seen any dreams. But since I started meditating, I started having structured dreams again. It is like since I stopped daydreaming, my brain saved everything for the night for a great show. Content changes according to my mood of course.

    Has this happened to you?

Edit: I'm assuming cave men had very vivid dreams at night, since they were always occupied with survival during the day. The things they have seen in their dreams must have affected them like it is coming from a divine source. Might have builded their egos.

    Autism and meditation.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 01:07 AM PST

    Excuse me.

I could really use some guidance. I have very light autism, but due to this, I cannot visualize when I close my eyes. I know this is a massive part of meditation, but I've been getting by sense. Yet it just doesn't seem to be able to take me any further. Can I get some wisdom on how to augment my meditation style so that my sense is heightened? Or maybe some other way?

    I'd just like some input.

Is it only me or is it much easier to focus with a smile?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 06:17 PM PST

Nir Eyal, famous productivity writer, says that distraction is caused by uncomfortable feelings. With that in mind, I'm finding that prodding myself to smile during any activity reduces the scope for distraction, though it's difficult to keep the smile going for longer.

    Meditation and recovery.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 02:38 AM PST

I've been in recovery for 14 years. Recently I've been finding that mediation has helped me tune back into the spiritual side of things, it seemed to come easily in early sobriety. I feel burdened by negative feelings and I'm glimpsing something important in this first taster of meditation. I've been enjoying a book called 'One Breath at a Time' and using guided videos on YouTube from the group ' Great meditation '. I took a little look at TM last night, it looks appealing but is there something similar that doesn't cost money? I'd happily pay for it but the very fact that it costs anything has made me a little wary. TM looks appealing because I wouldn't have to change my concept of higher power. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Mass meditation

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 11:31 PM PST

    Mass meditation

We should do a mass meditation 🧘‍♀️ ❕ the consciousness and energy would be so strong in those moments if thousands of us all chose to meditate, or astral project all at once. I really like my plan of mine, sorry if someone has already thought of this but tell me what you think ❕❕

    What is meditation specifically?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 01:41 AM PST

I am probably overthinking this. But what is it really.

Is it just Being aware were your focus is and bring it back if you lose it?

I have followed the sam harris videos on youtube and they are relaxing. But i think the focus on the breath is so boring im starting to overcomplicate and missunderstand what it really is?

Is meditation purely what you focus on and being aware of that focus?

Exxplain it to me like im an idiot so i can finally understand.

    How do you view meditation?

What is meditation and what’s not meditation?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 02:56 AM PST

Meditation is when you are absolutely still at your core.

The good happens, the bad happens, external circumstances change but you remain you

Anything else is just not meditation. Anything else is just mind playing games. Anything else is just being driven by attachment to mind and body.

Much love and peace to you

Need help with meditating on a stressful subject

    Posted: 09 Dec 2020 12:34 AM PST

A few minutes ago I was trying to meditate on past projects thinking that contemplating them in a relaxed state could help me think of ways to improve them. The problem is that these projects were/are the source of a major percentage of the stress in my life. Usually when meditating I have no problems relaxing my body and letting my mind do it's thing, but this time I kept noticing the muscles in my face tightening which threw everything out of wack leading to me ending the session earlier than I wanted to. Do you guys have any advice on how to get past this or am I fundamentally going about this the wrong way by focusing on something stressful in the first place?

How do I actually know that I’m noticing my thoughts during mindful meditation?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 09:25 PM PST

I've been practicing for about a week now, but I first began meditation 3 years ago before my psychedelic trips. I haven't meditated this seriously since. But today I had my longest session. Over 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Anyways during meditation this thought came up, "how do I know I'm actually noticing my thoughts and not being unaware and assuming I'm the thinker of my thoughts?"

So I wanted to reach out and ask more experienced people what they would say

So, how do I actually know that I'm noticing my thoughts and what I have isn't quasi mindfulness?

Having trouble getting breathing to not feel "forced"

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 07:28 PM PST

I use Sam Harris' Waking Up app, and it has been amazing. I meditate every day and have been enjoying exploring my mind in ways I never thought imaginable and am finally consistent with it. With this in mind, I feel as though I'm at a sticking point in terms of my breathing.

I breathe so normally and subconsciously during the day, but when it comes to meditation, I feel like I'm having trouble getting out of my head when it comes to breathing (I guess since I'm actually noticing it for the first time). It's like I want to focus on the breath and feel the sensations involved, so I breathe in an abnormal (and sometimes uncomfortable) way to foster that, but then I realize that I should just be breathing normally rather than forced. Any tips on how to achieve a more relaxed and normal breathing state? I'm aware it'll prob take time too!

    Thoughts

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 10:45 PM PST

    Thoughts

I have a question about your thoughts and being present. When thoughts arise is it good to just let them go in your head or do you try to Suppress? I can be doing something and I'll start thinking about what happened yesterday or years ago or just about anything. How do you go about this ?

    My problem with meditating

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 10:41 PM PST

I started meditating a year ago and it went fine. After a while i started noticing the differences i heard about, but after a while I stopped idk why and i really regretted stoping. So now every time i try to get back and start I can't help but to control my breath, I can't just focus on it, i automatically try to control it so i feel i am losing the point of meditating which is to let it be and just observe. Any tips on how to avoid this. Thank you

    Meditation

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 10:22 PM PST

So have been trying meditation from 3 to 4 days . I started with 5 mins focusing on breath to today reached about 27minites . Towards the end was feeling dozed off so stopped it .

I also try to count the breaths while focusing on the sensations . After a while I give up counting and focus only on the sensation .

Had a rough day both mentally and physically today .

I did not feel any better after mediation for 27mins.

Not sure what benefits I will get from spending so much time on mediation where as other things like yoga or gym or even WimHof you can see benefits immediately. Atleast get a good feeling just after WimHof breathing . Again who knows how hat happens in the long run ?

Is mediation a myth for this generation. Does it really help ?

If doing 15 to 30 mins going to help , why the monks have to spend years and years everyday for most of the day like a full time job.

What is the difference between a guy who meditates and who does not meditate everyday ?

    Eye Prism

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 04:19 PM PST

During meditation I discovered I am an eye inside of a prism, and reality Is being projected onto this prism. The "third" eye is just a reflection of yourself.
