- [COMP] I've been working towards this for years..feeling pretty proud right now! Handstand kickover to wheel ❤

- [COMP] I used to live in wheel pose as a kid, and now at 31 in a sedentary job I’m excited to get some of that strength and flexibility back. My front hip flexors are still extremely tight, almost to the point of causing lordosis in the lower back.
- [COMP] pincha progress away from the wall. Working on leaning instead of jumping into the pose.

| Posted: 12 Dec 2020 06:47 PM PST Is this a subreddit dedicated to Yoga or only Yoga Asanas? Because unfortunately this seems to be the standard here in the west... Don't get me wrong, I really like Asanas and understand it has value, but they aren't even 1/10 of what Yoga really is. Its great that Yoga has found a place in our society, but at the same time it's sad that it was reduced to a shell of it real beauty. As a official Yoga page I think it's a shame that there is almost no discussion about the philosophy and concepts of Yoga Mimansa, the Vedic Schools (Darshanas) or about Patanjali's Yoga Sutras or even Bhagavad Gita, that is the essential text on Yoga. This only enforces the stereotype of Yoga as people doing contortions and chanting Om. It's not my intention to judge or offend anyone, just trying to start a topic. | First time being able to spread all five toes apart! Posted: 12 Dec 2020 10:42 AM PST I would always hear yoga teachers say this but could never do it. I was finally able to do it today and it's crazy how good this small accomplishment makes me feel. [link] [comments] |
| What were the best yoga milestones you’ve hit? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 05:41 PM PST Whether it be as small as not taking breaks during practice anymore or as large as opening your own studio and anything in between. What have been the most memorable for you? I'm a beginner but mine would have to be feeling a noticeable flexibility after only a few weeks! [link] [comments] |
| Building an at-home yoga workout from chiropractic exercises Posted: 12 Dec 2020 12:24 PM PST Hi r/yoga, First off, sorry if this isn't the right subreddit. I'm not looking for medical advice (as per Rule 5) as I already have some exercises, but I'm looking for either advice or a jumping off point of resources from the wiki/FAQ to help pair these exercises (below) to help expand my routine. While I'm not brand spanking new to yoga as I've been to some classes in the past, but I'm most certainly considered as a beginner. Background: I'm a male/early-30s and now work from home due to COVID where I'm on a computer all day (7-9 hours depending). After having my back give out due to the lack of movement, I'm working specifically on my core due to an arched spine with a few key exercises (and sorry, I don't have names for these). Chiropractic Daily Exercises:
TL;DR I'm just wondering if there's anything I could pair with these exercises above to help build an extended routine. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 12 Dec 2020 03:02 PM PST I do it in the morning and it has helped me a lot with my digestive issues. Question is, can I do the same poses at night after dinner? I want to really strengthen my digestive system by doing it twice [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 12 Dec 2020 05:19 PM PST Does anyone have any experience with a 40-Day Sadhana? This was something that was very shared with me during my yoga teacher training. I've not done it but would love to hear about your experiences. What was your Sadhana? What changes did you notice after the 40-days? Was there a reason for embarking on this practice and if so, were you able to achieve that outcome? Etc. etc. [link] [comments] |
| No-slip yoga/barre socks that are fair trade / fair-labor produced? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 05:42 AM PST I'm trying to find some no-slip yoga or barre socks for my partner. I know it's very important to her that her clothing is produced in fair-labor environments. Normally when buying clothing for her it has been easy to find companies that proudly share information about the manufacturing standards, supply chain, etc. But I have had absolutely zero luck with finding yoga/barre socks. Any ideas? Many thanks to anyone reading! [link] [comments] |
| Strange feeling from camel pose Posted: 12 Dec 2020 02:39 PM PST I've noticed this weird thing going on as I try to progress in camel pose. I have a weird tickling sensation in my hip flexors / thighs when I am in the backbend. Has anyone experienced something similar? It almost makes me laugh...it's so strange. [link] [comments] |
| Looking for a Studio offering live classes with monthly membership Posted: 12 Dec 2020 02:30 PM PST Hi, I was doing zoom yoga everyday with my studio in San Jose, but they stopped their activities in September, since that I took on some other activities and some eventual free flow. The thing is that I realized that I need the live classes to keep me in a schedule, I'm really not into youtube classes. So if you have a studio that is doing unlimited online classes (preferably under $50/month) please let me know your recommendations. It's hard to find smaller studios online. Thanks! | Posted: 12 Dec 2020 02:26 PM PST I am interested to hear from you lovely people in this subreddit. What is yoga for you? What does yoga mean to you? I am asking because for me yoga is a spiritual path, of which yoga asanas are an integral part for sure, but only one of many important elements which help one to move along the spiritual path. I see a majority of posts on here are people showing what difficult posture they have learnt. And whilst it is great you can learn strength and flexibility, i am not sure if it can just simply be called yoga. And I feel that by people putting a focus on the aesthetic and physical elements of yoga asanas it dilutes the deeper spiritual elements of this practice. I don't want to be condescending or gatekeeping in anyway that's why I would like to open a conversation with people about what yoga is to you. Is it just an excercise based solely around yoga asanas or is it something more, how has your relationship and meaning changed over time also? Has the meaning changed? Do you follow any of the other aspects of yoga other than the asanas? Thanks and Namaskar 🙏🏼 [link] [comments] |

| Looking for advice about gaining shoulder mobility Posted: 12 Dec 2020 02:09 PM PST I can't seem to gain any flexibility in any of the poses that require me to interlock my fingers/hands behind my back. What kind of things can I do to help? [link] [comments] |
| Hatha routines for leg and core strength Posted: 12 Dec 2020 06:45 AM PST Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you could recommend a slow-paced Hatha routine for building core and leg strength? [link] [comments] |
| Recommend a dancing warrior sequence that is Gerd friendly? Posted: 12 Dec 2020 04:50 AM PST Basically with gerd I cannot do any poses that are inversions (any pose where the heart is higher from the ground than the head) so what kind of dancing warrior sequence do you recommend for me?
