How do you practice grace and humility on and off your mat? (Asanas, Meditation, Breath Work, Music etc.)

[COMP] been working on my king pigeon for a while and I'm finally at a place where I feel in control and comfortable through the whole pose. Though I'm struggling to get my other hand up to my foot and am wondering if I just need to do more heart opening asanas? Any critiques welcome as well :)

This was my first hanumanasana ever. Fell off my yoga practice routine during 2020. Found this old photo that reminds me I can pick it up anytime I want. Yoga is there whenever and wherever I need it.

    The mat is always unrolled

    Posted: 22 Dec 2020 12:30 AM PST

I'm at the point in my practice, where I just leave my yoga mat out. Don't really roll it up. I just leave it open and throw down a flow when I wanna flow. I do take some online zoom yoga classes, but it just isn't enough for me to do one flow per day. I feel like I constantly need to check in with my breath and stretch and flow my body. Feels like I've been building tension SO quickly within my body. Literally just a couple hours after a flow I'm already tense. I've been a yogi for years, but only until this year has it been absolutely necessary that I practice every day. I want to make sure I'm not over working my body, since I do build tension so quickly. I don't do power yoga every time, but I definitely use my muscles in order to release deeper. If anyone has any tips at all for a well rounded every day practice, please reach out. All is welcome and appreciated! (: Namaste

Discoloration on knees. Is this normal?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2020 09:00 AM PST

I've been doing yoga every day for 4 weeks now and I've noticed that a part of my knees are getting darker. I'm using two yoga mats on top of each other (my old thin one and a new thicker one) plus a textured yoga towel. I know that since I'm still new that I'm heavily relying on my knees since I'm not strong enough yet. Any tips on how I could prevent this from worsening or if anyone could enlighten me on this? TIA.

Is it ok that my wrists crack moving from up dog to down dog?

    Posted: 22 Dec 2020 09:54 AM PST

The title pretty much says it all. Whenever I do a chaturanga, to up dog, to down dog, my wrists make a cracking/popping sound in the transition from up to down dog. Like a back or finger crack. It's not painful at all, but I'm concerned it might be an indication of an issue. I'm not ready sure. Does anyone else experience this? Is it ok?

Seeking a type of yoga that can increase blood flow in muscles

    Posted: 22 Dec 2020 02:14 PM PST

I know there's so many types of yoga I don't even know where to start, so I'll just ask.

Our muscles have a lot of tiny veins and arteries running through all of them, and most likely we're not making use of nearly all of them, and as of such it may hinder our strength and overall movement capabilities. I'm not really seeking anything like mental clarity or even getting fit, more or less just some stretches that can help me better utilize what I already have.

I'm looking for a type of yoga that can stretch out muscle groups, and help them "breathe" so to speak. Could anybody point me in the right direction?

Neck hurts doing any pose where you have to look up or back

    Posted: 22 Dec 2020 09:34 AM PST

I've been doing yoga off and on for 6 months with the Down Dog app, I'm really struggling when the poses progress and require me to "relax my neck ", for example the backbend, camel pose, wild thing/side plank. Any advice on what I can do to make these poses hurt less? Should I stop when I feel pain? I'm always nervous I'm going to hurt my neck in these poses because it just doesn't feel right. Any tips are appreciated !

Do I just need to lose weight or is it just something you gotta get used to or what?

Does anyone have advice on how to fix knee pain from trying to lotus pose too early?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:21 PM PST

I did too much and way too much stretching that my body wasn't ready for and now both my knees hurt everytime I unbend them. Its only when I'm unbending them, not when I exercise or walk around but I feel something wrong.

Theyve been this way for two months and I tried a few things, foam rolling, knee strengthening exercises, not doing anything at all (which seemed to make them worse for some strange reason). If it doesn't get better, I'll have to go to the doctor but its my last resort because I really can't afford it.
