Books for YTT - do you have books you're not using anymore? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 02:15 PM PST I finally signed up for my YTT and I'm super excited. Yeyy! I received the book list and I am looking into buying used books online. I thought I'd check in here to see whether any of you yogis had any of those books on my list that you don't use anymore? I'd be happy to purchase them from you. Here is the book list: The Heart of Yoga (Developing a Personal Practice) by T.K.V. Desikachar Teaching Yoga (Essential Foundations & Techniques) by Mark Stephens Yoga Mind, Body, & Spirit (A Return to Wholeness) by Donna Farhi Atlas of the Human Body (The Complete Human Anatomy in More than 500 Color Illustrations) by Takeo Takahashi Happy Yoga (7 Reasons Why There's Nothing to Worry About) by Steve Ross The Yamas & Niyamas (Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice) by Deborah Adele Skill in Action (Radicalizing Your Yoga Practice to Create a Just World) by Michelle Cassandra Johnson PM me if you're interested to give your book a second life :) *Also, if there are other books you highly recommend for a YTT, I'd love to hear it! * Merry Christmas. Has anyone here gotten cramps from yoga? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 01:35 PM PST I've started doing yoga for like four days. Two videos at least per day, around 18 minutes for each one. I'd feel a bit sore from them. Though yesterday, I did a third, a bit more difficult one I guess. Today I wake up and the back of my calf hurts like it was contracting I think? Maybe it was a charley horse because I could barely get up, but then it went away. Though hours later, right now, it still feels kinda tight and sore. Does anyone else get this type of thing or did I mess up? Also would doing more yoga help losen it or something? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Dec 2020 06:01 AM PST I have been slacking off in the fitness department for quite a while now. Used to train for Tennis ten years ago but gave up on that for college. 24(f) haven't really worked out in a long long time. I want to venture into Yoga, but I don't really know anything about it. I used to do stretching routines off of YouTube as a pre exam ritual and that's about it. How do I go about starting it at home ideally because where are live there aren't many yoga studios and also well, the pandemic. Thanks in advance. :) [link] [comments] |
Yoga for inguinal hernia study Posted: 24 Dec 2020 09:52 PM PST https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3276927/ Does anyone have experience helping early hernias? I'm pretty sure I have one and am very worried about it getting worse. I'd like to keep it stable for as long possible to put off surgery. I'm afraid that any type of ab straining will force the hernia to open wider....though I've seen a few people who claim to have had success with pilates or certain exercises? [link] [comments] |
Do I need a new mat? Lululemon 5mm Posted: 24 Dec 2020 04:43 PM PST I've had my reversible lulu mat for about 10 months now. I use it 3-5 times a week during hot power yoga and hot Pilates. I notice my mat is moving from under me, which is distracting during practice. I'm not slipping because I use a towel, but my mat pretty much has all the other trademark signs of wear and use. I'm thinking I need a new mat and am considering the alo warrior mat. Any opinions?? [link] [comments] |
