First unexpected full camel. Advice and tips appreciated!

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 03:02 AM PST

Realised I can do this today. It's actually because of doing stiff leg deadlifts. They're a really good leg stretch, I haven't specifically trained flexibility in a while!

    Knocked Kneed and Hip Flexibility

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 04:25 AM PST

    Hello!

I was hoping others with inward pointing knees could help with opening up hips. I'm hyper flexible but a lifetime of my hips compensating for my knees pointing in and subsequent Pidgeon-toedness has really done a number on them. They're stiff and hard to open up.

I would love to do the splits. I go to regular chiropractic appointments to help. Is anyone in the same boat and able to gain flexibility in their lower half?

Tips for getting my elbows to the floor?

Tips for getting my elbows to the floor?

I've always had trouble with flexibility in my shoulders and upper back but I've been working really hard on it this past year. I can't believe the progress I've made! My next goal is to be able to bring my elbows down to the floor. Would love to hear some of your favorite stretches or exercises for this. Thanks!

I feel stretches in the wrong places

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 08:58 PM PST

For instance when I do an IT Band stretch I feel it in my hamstring, This is because my hamstring is extremely tight (according to my therapist), and another thing I need to ask is If I don't feel a stretch anymore in the specific area I want to stretch does this mean I have untightened the muscle perhaps? I don't want to continue doing it and possibly overstretch and get another injury.

Post upper body workout wheel! Definitely areas to work on like my hip flexors and shoulders but this was the first time where my wheel actually felt pretty good! Any suggestions welcome!

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:41 PM PST

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone could share any advice or routines on how to get a really flexible back. Is there any youtube tutorials that are good? Or how long and often should I work on it a week? Thanks for any advice.

Question on straddle splits & horse stance

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 12:14 PM PST

Hi everyone! This is my very first Reddit post, and I joined this past week so I could be a part of r/flexibility. I'm already learning a lot from you!

Reading through this group's intro materials, I found Antranik's Splits Routine, and I'm confused about #4: Straddle Splits. That section of the routine has less guidance than the previous sections, which are on front splits. For straddle splits, Antranik gives his Dynamic Frog Pose Series and Horse Stance sets, recommending mastering horse stance before attempting straddle splits. But he doesn't give the frequency with which to do this 10-minute routine. I'm guessing it shouldn't be done every day, to let the muscles rest and build; does anyone know this? That's my main question, but I'd also love to hear whether this routine is a method you've used and whether it has worked for you.

I'm still a beginner--I can't come close to doing the front splits and haven't yet gotten strong enough to do horse stance as long as Antranik recommends. I can touch my toes, but not with great form. So I have a lot to work on! :) Thanks for your input.

Getting that subborn back leg straight in front splits ?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 08:21 AM PST

    Hi guys, 😄

So I've been training on getting my front splits and I saw progress those last weeks ! 💪 💪

My upper thigh/hip (right split) is now resting kinda confortably on the lowest side of a yoga block.

As far as I am aware my hips are as square as they can be for the time being, my back leg isn't crooked to the side.

(I'll provide a pic 📷 in the future that'd probably easier to visualise).

However my left back leg isn't straight ! (only my knee and the first cm of my thigh are touching the floor but the rest is up).

    I've found this girl's tutorial (pic + videos against a wall strecthes) : https://www.instagram.com/p/CJGlT9LJzRN/

As she stated that a bend back leg is usually due to tight/unflexible muscles on the front of the leg (of the leg which is at the back during the splits).

What are your advice guys ? 😊 I haven't seen much results with thoses stretches so far (but to be honest I started like a week ago only 😅 ). What are your fav exercices to make the back leg more flexible ?

I also lacrosse ball/foam roll the front of my thighs (when I don't forgot lol)

I really don't know if the problem is my back leg and as i'll unlock it the hips and front leg will follow OR if the front leg is still the issue 🤔 🤔 ....

Morning Yoga Full Body Stretch in Bed

Specific exercises for lower back, hip, and hamstring tightness?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 05:36 AM PST

I've become increasingly aware of how awfully painfully tight my lower back, hamstrings, and hips are. I just started stretching more and doing yoga again, so i assume that'll take some time to kick in. (Yoga with Adriene's 2021 challenge), but I'd like to add some focused work for the aforementioned areas.

What are some exercises for these areas, and how long should I hold the poses for or how often should I repeat per workout session?

I was sick for most of 2019 and 2020 so sitting down and in bed, and I'm moving more now, which I know will help as well.

There was a post here months ago about someone who progressed a huge amount on back flexibility in 9 months and they shared their routine. Can anyone link it or share the routine? Thanks!
