I finished a 30 day of yoga with Adrienne playlist and I cried like a baby. Posted: 30 Jan 2021 09:25 AM PST I was always in and out of yoga so I decided to start January off by doing something positive for myself both mentally and physically. I did 30 days of yoga, never skipped a day. I had a couple of meh days that I knew I wasn't given it my all but I still unrolled that mat. Today was my last day and I cried after it. I really felt I left something go. In December I had a silent miscarriage on my first pregnancy and started feeling body confidence issues creeping in. This month I feel more control of my body and my mental health has vastly improved. Yoga is so amazing healing and powerful and even though my poses could do alot of work, I feel incredibly every time I step onto the mat and discover a new improvement in my practice. Reading Buddhism Without Beliefs and incorporating Yin has fundamentally changed my practice. Posted: 30 Jan 2021 05:26 AM PST (Full disclosure I'm in recovery - 40 days clean today) I've been working on meditating and being present in my daily life. I picked up Buddhism Without Beliefs by Stephen Batchelor which focuses on the dharma and teachings of Buddha before Buddhism became an organized religion. I highly recommend! Learning about the dharma has improved my ability to focus on my breath and explore discomfort. As such, I decided to practice Yin before Vinyasa this week. Game changer. Overall I feel more connected to my breath, my body, the asana, and my third eye. Current routine: revisit the dharma, meditate for about 5 minutes, stretch for 5-10 minutes, Yin for 30 minutes (no savasana), Vinyasa for 30 minutes, 5 minute savasana. Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions! [link] [comments] |

Does anyone struggle to release trapped emotions with yoga? Posted: 30 Jan 2021 07:11 PM PST I have trapped trauma and emotions that I have carried with me for many years. I know this because I have caught a glimmer of the emotions/feelings when on mushrooms and sometimes on marijuana. I keep hearing how getting into the body will help me heal. It actually makes a lot of sense to me because when I was on these drugs I felt much more in tune with my body. However, when I do yoga and other somatic exercises I can never feel much. I don't feel any emotions or anything, just tension in my back. I don't get it. Everyone talks about how it helps them with their trauma but why isn't it working for me? [link] [comments] |

Do you ever do yoga with no guide/plan, just vibes? Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:06 PM PST I've been doing yoga for almost 3 years and it never occurred to me to just do my own thing (without an app, YouTube, or teacher) until a trip in December where we had limited internet access. Ever since, I've been doing a self-guided yoga session once a week at home (in conjunction with classes). Light up some scented candles, light up a little something else, put on some lofi hip hop, and just play around! It's definitely not as challenging as when there's a teacher/guide to encourage you out of your comfort zone but I'm finding so much value and joy in trusting my body, not worrying about the next move, and approaching a practice with nothing more than the intention of play. I'd love to hear everyone else's experiences with doing yoga all vibes no plan! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jan 2021 04:55 PM PST I've done yoga on and off since my 20s. For the last few years, I've been practicing a couple of times a week, first with Adriene then down dog. The older I get the more it helps my body! I finally got fed up and cleared out my practice space, added some zen touches & led candles for evening practice, and today I splurged on a lululemon mat to replace my slippery old cheap mat. I can't wait to try it! [link] [comments] |
Yoga convert finishing 30 day challenge tomorrow. What next? Posted: 30 Jan 2021 02:29 PM PST I've been doing the 30 day Breath challenge on the Yoga with Adriene channel and I'll finish it tomorrow. This is the first time I've done yoga consistently and actually enjoyed it but I don't really know what to do after this challenge. As a complete beginner I really need some kind of structure but I have no idea what that should look like. Do I do another 30 day challenge? Do I concentrate on particular poses? I'm a bit lost so any help/ recommendations would be very much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
What helped you achieve jump through/jump back? Posted: 30 Jan 2021 10:07 AM PST My first strength goal in yoga was to be able to do a chaturanga push up. I couldn't even do one on my knees when I started, so I'm feeling pretty accomplished now that I can do several regular ones in a row. I like to practice ashtanga, so my next long term goal is to be able to jump through and jump back. I've been trying to work prep poses into my practice, but I was wondering if anyone had any poses/resources/tips that were especially useful to you. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jan 2021 03:07 PM PST This tip will mainly be of interest to fellow residents of southeastern PA— Try going to a TJ MAXX on the Main Line! I found a mat today at the one in Media but it was the only/last one. It was 50 bucks so I wasn't that lucky but still.... Another tip that might be helpful to everyone—check around the periphery of the men's section as well as the fitness area in the women's section. My mat was along a wall with "men's" fitness items. Good luck! [link] [comments] |
"Step through to low lunge" - Asking for help with this transition! Posted: 30 Jan 2021 01:55 PM PST Going from high plank to a low lunge, when I step one foot in (to between where my hands are placed), my knee/leg bends out from under my torso instead of remaining underneath as I move it forward. What is the issue here? Are my legs too long to fit between the mat and the reach of my arms (lol)? Is there anyway to remedy this and be able to step through without butterfly-ing my knee to the side? Thanks for any advice! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Jan 2021 09:05 AM PST I've done yoga on and off over the years, recently I started really trying to get back with it and doing YWA Breath series, there's a lot of lunging and I feel like my arms aren't long enough or my boobs get in the way lol does that go away after a certain amount of time? Forgive the trash post I'll delete lataa [link] [comments] |
