Round Low Back - Tight hamstrings or Sacralization? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 11:54 PM PST Hi guys - thanks in advance for reading this and any advice. So, I am super super inflexible in my low back. For example, when I am sitting with my legs extended in front of me and trying to keep my back flat, I cannot fold at all. In fact, I have to keep my arms behind my to push myself forward to try to keep my back flat at all. This is the case in all positions in which my legs are extended. It's a little easier for me to get a flatter back with my legs bent however (cross legged, etc.). Interestingly, my back seems to be fine stretching in the other direction (arch, back bend). I remember as a child being able to bend over backwards from standing into a bridge so I know I was always capable of stretching in that direction. However, while I don't recall whether I always had a problem with a round back (because I didn't pay attention), I don't ever remember ever having a flat back in folding positions. Some other relevant factors. My pelvis tends to tilt under. I cannot get into an asian squat (or anywhere close), likely because my ankles are not that flexible and/or my achilles are short/tight. I have heard that tight hamstrings can be a cause for this so I am considering that that may be the problem. However, I have also heard of a spinal abnormality called sacralization where your L5 is fused to your pelvis (or something to that effect). That kind of also seems like it might be it because when I am trying to fold forward I've often thought it just feels impossible because it feels like my pelvis and low back are fused keeping me from being able to fold over my legs.. I dance very often and would like to continue improving but I feel this mobility issue is a problem for dancing (and health). Can anyone give me any clarification on whether this is a tight hamstring issue or a sacralization issue? And how I can begin to correct this? I appreciate any advice. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Feb 2021 06:02 PM PST I came across this video randomly and was curious as to what others thought of it. I've never seen a routine similar to this but I was curious as to how well this could work? Because I'm starting to lose hope sadly. How plausible would it be to do something similar to him but every other day due to schedule? [link] [comments]
Is it normal to feel light headed upside down Posted: 03 Feb 2021 11:50 AM PST I'm a beginner and am trying to expand my back flexibility, but in order to do that I have to do modified backbends etc. but I can never hold for long because my head feels light headed and I get a headache afterwards. I'm drinking a lot of water, it helps. I also am trying to control my breathing, it helps. But does everyone struggle with this? Is this even normal [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Feb 2021 10:30 AM PST Allow me to introduce myself; I am the least-flexible human on the planet. There is no part of my body that meets the test for normal flexibility (I am basing "normal" on what pre-beginner yoga/flexibility instructors expect you to be able to do). But I really want to change that. After 5 years of (barely recognizable) yoga, I shifted to focused flexibility training using online classes about 5 months ago. I have been working on my flexibility for 45 - 90 minutes a day, every day, for these 5 months, but haven't noticed any change yet. Plus, the instructors seem to have assumptions about the flexibility of those taking their classes that don't match up with me. Is it possible that some bodies just aren't able to achieve normal flexibility? [link] [comments]

Tightness in glute during pancake and similar stretches? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:30 PM PST I'm working towards the pancake and have encountered tightness/pulling in my glutes as I hinge forward. It doesn't feel great (but it's not exactly painful yet), nor does it feel like a sensation I should be feeling so I'm reluctant to push further into a stretch when this occurs. This feels like my biggest limitation right now in making progress and I'm not sure what it is. Is this common, and if so what can be done in terms of stretches/strengthening to directly address the issue? [link] [comments] |
