Sudden Back, Neck and Shoulder Pain

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 03:36 AM PST

I am a generally healthy 27 year old female who has never had any issues with body pain in the past.

A week and a half ago, I started getting pain in my back, neck and shoulders: specifically lower back, spine, between and above shoulder blades, shoulders, back upper neck. My lower back hurts mostly when I am sitting down (which I have been avoiding). My upper back hurts generally whenever I move in any way.

I suspect this started from poor posture when working from home. I definitely have forward head posture and my shoulders tend to by slightly slumped when I am sitting down. I also had a few days where I was working long hours and worked in bed, lying down on my front.

Since then, I have fashioned myself a standing up desk and I am trying to be more conscious of my posture. I continue to do my workouts every other day - mainly squats. plants and glute exercises.

What else could I be doing? Unfortunately I live in the UK and face-to-face appointments with doctors is almost

Anyone else out there who really did or still does struggle with getting flexible? Need some emotional support and motivation.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 12:01 PM PST

So I have always been less flexible than average. I did gymnastics as a child and was always the least flexible of the group. I was hardly able to do the splits back then. After a while I stopped doing it and probably never streched again for about ten years. About three months ago I started again because I wanted to learn something new. I have made some progress so far, but by far not the progress I wanted to make or Youtube challenges told me I should have made.

When I started, I couldn't even come close to touching my toes when standing. Now I can touch them, even though it is a little painful. I can only stretch about every 2-3 (sometimes even 4) days because I always feel sore after stretching and it takes some time for it to go away. When I can't stretch for some days I become more inflexible again really fast.

I guess I just have bad genetics regarding this topic, and that is okay. Flexibility is a journey, not a race. But my struggles are really disappointing sometimes and I can have troubles motivating myself.

So my questions are: Am I doing something wrong? Are those struggles normal? Have you experienced something similar? Do you have any tips or just some support?

can sitting cross-legged a lot on the long term cause gluteus medius to weaken?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 11:27 AM PST

apparently i have extremely weak hamstrings. how fix

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 11:06 AM PST

basically literally every hamstring exercise people recommend me i can't actually do with proper form at all

is there some other cause or do i just have to find something incredibly easy and progress from the literal bottom? or am i just not pushing myself hard enough

yes i'm extremely weak in general

    Almost got my right splits

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 08:30 AM PST

I made huge improvements the last few weeks and after this [for me really horrible] day getting almost my splits felt unbelievably awesome. The goal is getting my full splits and maybe even over splits and after that working on my whole body. My back flexibility is really bad like almost none existent so I'll be working more on my back.

Need help with constantly tight biceps

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 08:06 AM PST

My biceps constantly feel tight and I can't get them to lengthen no matter what I do. I've tried foam rolling, massage gun, passive static stretching (hand on the wall stretch and shoulder extension stretch), and PNF stretching.

Does any one have any experience with getting biceps to lengthen and staying that way?

Strongly feel that the backs are underrated. They go through so much and are very critical to being healthy. Yoga class where we focus on Asanas to keep a healthy back.
