Has anyone seen a drastic change in their anxiety or depression since starting to meditate?

I go to therapy and I'm working really hard on my mental health. I've struggled with anxiety and depression on and off almost my whole life. People tell me to start meditating everyday and I'll be saved. Not exactly but similar advice. Maybe I just need that extra push to sit with myself daily to really get over this hump. ♥️

Rid your mind of useless luggage

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 02:24 PM PDT

In Zazen (sitting meditation) the purpose is to rid your mind of useless luggage and become one with the universe.

In painting, the purpose is to rid your mind of useless luggage and become one with the paint brush.

In dancing, the purpose is to rid your mind of useless luggage and become one with the dance.

In basketball, the purpose is to rid your mind of useless luggage and become one with the ball.

Meditation can and should be done all day. We are human beings. Not humans-thinking-about-being. When action and thought become one, you become one with the universe. Stop thinking so much about it. You're perfect the moment you stop trying. That's when you are able to transmute whatever energy is keeping you down. There is so much bliss when you learn to let go. There is so much wisdom ready to permeate your whole body. Peace, love and joy are your birthright. It's all yours the moment you decide to let it all go and allow it to happen.

During meditation on Mahashivrati, he deconstructed my reality before my eyes and brought to my attention so many of the illusions I had embraced. I have written a poem to make sure I never forget and to attempt to express the experience. I wanted to share it with you.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 01:41 AM PDT

    Mahashivrati

    Then born, eyes open,
    Unblemished mind aware,
    So strange, we scream, how
    Suddenly, everything is there.

    In chaos lies, a promise
    Whispered as we swam,
    Islands, become, Self
    Construct, Contained, I am

    I know, we are,
    Above the churning sea,
    This place, is mine,
no others, here I am, me.

    To you, given free,
    Exchange it for your own,
    Stories, of a life, time
    passed as we swim home.

How to Get Rid of OVERTHINK?? Is there any special kinda Meditation to Control Our Thoughts??

I have anger issues, just like my father

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 01:12 PM PDT

I've never practiced meditation daily. Most of my trials were sporadic and therefore I couldn't see much of a benefit on them, aside from the nice feeling of freedom that comes afterwards.

That said, I would like to know if any of you had problems dealing with anger or anxiety, and if those problems ceased or reduced after a daily practice of meditation.

I get angry at the people I love, for no meaningful reason, and then regret it immediately... It reminds me a lot of how my father would react when drunk, and I don't want to be yet another one of those inconsequential guys in the world. Hopefully meditation can help me.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

Looking to chat with meditation practitioners

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 11:18 PM PDT

I'd like to get on a 15-minute call with people to chat about short videos I do for meditation. Here's a calendar link!

    tl:dr

    • Short videos for meditative breathing exercises (e.g., box breathing) accompanied by a nice visual and calm music (happy to share a link to that if anyone's curious)
    • I've personally found it quite relaxing
    • I'm curious to know if it's helpful for others, and how to improve on it

Background: I started looking into meditation this year to try it out. I personally found it hard to say focused during meditation. I'm a visual person, so I thought if there was some sort of visual guide, it could help me get started. I didn't like the visual guides available only (I'm visual and fussy), so I wanted something nicer.

As I did the videos, I really enjoyed them! It feels like doing some art and meditating at the same time, so it's been a good creative exercise for me as well.

Breathing in Positivity, Breathing out Negativity: A simple meditation that works really well for me

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 02:03 PM PDT

*I BELIEVE WE ARE ALL CREATORS*

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 12:24 AM PDT

I believe we have all already ascended out of this Universe and are already creating our own Universes.

If there is no such thing as time in the spiritual and energetic world, the past, present, and future are One.

We as planetary beings, observed the cycles of the Sun and distinguished one moment from another, planning seasonal harvests and changes in the weather for optimised survival. These are human observations based on human needs that do not translate to higher dimensional or energy-based forms of life.

We experience and observe some form of end or death of our human vehicle and we therefore believe in the finite nature of life. We are not taught to exist as immortal energies, we are taught to define our patterns and limit ourselves in every possible regard.

What if we were more accurately Suns?

What if your soul was a constant burst of light that nurtures others around you?

When we observe an infinite spectrum of lives, swimming in and out of reincarnation, our significance for what we believe is important changes.

The ego can only exist in the finite where it can compare itself to others. In the infinite however, this Universe already happened and we have already recognised ourselves as Source.

There's nothing to forgive when you are meant to be exactly the way you are, and not a single line of code different.

Recognizing the infinite self is the explosion of enlightenment that ascends us into truly loving beings.

    We Create because we Love.

I really need help to start meditating.

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 07:06 PM PDT

Title basically, I wanted to get into meditation for some months now but I could never find a reliable source of information so I chose to come here. I would like to meditate to fix my attention span problem, to help with my panic attacks and help with my anger and sadness that comes up almost every day. I just want to be calmer overall, I had a Reiki treatment done and it really helped for a while but then my feelings prevailed. Thanks for your help in advance.

Yoga nidra and deep sleep meditation

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 08:19 PM PDT

For the last two weeks, I've been adding yoga nidra to my meditation practice. I meditate for about 15 minutes before doing a 30 minute guided yoga nidra video from YouTube. I am getting some really good results but any advice on how to get more from practice? Does anyone recommend any good yoga nidra videos? As well as today, for the first time, I fell asleep while in the middle of a yoga nidra video, but when I woke up from this sleep, it felt different. I felt completely refreshed and clear headed, but dofferent in a way I've never felt too. Almost like a clean, reborn feeling. So odd but extremely nice, was wondering if anyone has expierenced that before? Was that because of the yoga nidra or was it casue it was one of those naps that just hit right

    Physical reaction to visualisation.

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 04:55 PM PDT

So I've been meditating consistently every day for about 10 months now, but this morning something different happened during my session. I was clearing my mind and relaxing my body when I suddenly got a very vivid visualisation of a strange looking woman in what appeared to be like a cave or a garage. She had tan skin that shined almost like plastic. Deep, dark, almost sunken eyes and hair tied up in a high ponytail. I cant recall if she was clothed or not, but I'm pretty sure she was.

She was standing at the otherside of the room and she looked right at me. There were no feelings of fear or any emotion for that matter. It felt more like she was just as confused as I was that we could "see" eachother. She stood there for a moment and then began to walk to my left. The part that was really jarring about the experience was that my head actually physically turned to follow the direction of her movement. My conscious mind immediately recognized that I was moving when I shouldnt be and I snapped back into my starting position, effectively ending the vision.

I'm wondering if having physical reactions to visualisation means anything and if it's at all usual. It's never happened to me before, but now I want to try to create these intense visuals again. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Meditation without retreats.

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 08:18 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I've been listening to a lot of meditation experts recently as a motive to keep practicing. I've noticed they all talk about going on retreats for weeks/months at a time and really studying the practice with gurus in the far east.

I find it a bit demotivating as this kind of getaway just isn't an option for me.

I'd like to hear some peoples thoughts on how meditation has worked for you without the need for lengthy retreats.

    Thanks in advance.

Deep state of meditation my first time?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 12:40 AM PDT

So i'm completely new to the world of meditation. I suffer from anxiety and depression and my mom told me that i needed to meditate. i've never meditated before; i think i tried to do it once when i was like 14 but i couldn't make my thoughts stop and i hated being frozen in one spot for so long so i never did it again today i was smoking (very light not enough to make me really really stoned, just buzzed) and i randomly had the urge to meditate so i played 741 HZ to clean my energy and get rid of negativity so i sit down and i start breathing and slowly i start to fall into a deep trance— i was not in my body anymore and i literally felt like a soul of light in the sky. i saw lights and the galaxy and i was swaying back and forth bc the emotion i felt was so intense. i felt like something was tugging at my chest even though my soul was floating in space?? and i just felt my breathing take over and there was a voice in my head guiding me through it and i was going through trauma and attempting to heal it while still in this trance state and i got so scared but the voice kept calming me down. my phone died so i snapped out of it but it was so beautiful. i'm just fearful (like i always am) that i might be going Crazy???? i try googling this but idk if i'm wording it wrong bc i can't find anything.

I have debilitating OCD (fear of hell), can meditation help me find peace with this horrible disorder?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 01:06 PM PDT

I have debilitating OCD, my life has been hell for the last 2 years since I was diagnosed, I don't see a reason to continue on this journey called life. This illness is constant suffering, I can't handle this for much longer, I'm desperate to find peace and calm once again. Will meditation help me? I'm already 3 months into doing 40min a day of breathing meditation, it's my last hope in life...

    Meditating with sacred geometry?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 12:17 AM PDT

Hey guys, so I have been researching about sacred geometry recently and I have read that people often meditate using them. If anyone has tried this method, what exactly is it that you do with the shapes? Do you simply look at them and practice breathing?

I was also wondering if there was a sacred geometry themed playing card set, and you play that with your friends, will it have any subconscious meditating effects?

Fly Fishing is more about meditation than fishing for me.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 12:13 AM PDT

I really don't fly fish to catch fish, if I do it is just a bonus, I do it for the fluid motion of my body and emptying my mind, does anyone else have activities that put them in a meditative state?

How do you meditate on something?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 05:59 AM PDT

I hear quite a lot about people 'meditating on' a question or issue or decision they have to make. How do you meditate on an issue or decision? For instance, how would I meditate on figuring out which degree I'd like to do, or whether I want to quit my job etc.

Letting go of thoughts vs suppressing

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 12:08 PM PDT

I've become better at noticing negative thoughts before spiralling, however, how do I know I'm not just suppressing my negative thoughts? I Try to honestly let them go but I find it hard to tell the difference between letting go and suppressing/ ignoring
