Ashtanga yoga: Lower back and PPT question |
| Posted: 08 Apr 2021 05:26 AM PDT Hi everyone! I am pretty new to Ashtanga and have been practicing regularly for 5 months now. I have a posterior pelvic tilt and have been working on it since the last month; doing some quad and hip flexor strengthening drills and passive hamstring stretches. The main issue my teacher is always pointing out to me is that my hamstrings are so tight they are pulling everything and my lower back is taking all the work; as my lower back is pretty much folded in all forward folds in the sequence so I imagine it is somehow overstretched and weak; even in downward facing dog I cannot seem to get my sit bones very high or even sit on them due to my hamstrings. Did anybody experience this in their lower back? I am starting to engage it during the day and in the couple of backbends in the finishing sequence to see if it gets better. Does anybody know any strengthening exercises to help improve this? Thank you so much! [link] [comments] |
