    Just finished my Online YTT

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 07:30 PM PDT

Just finished an online 200H YTT and it has been such an amazing and fulfilling experience!

This sub has been such a wonderful resource for me learning all of your experiences especially before I signed up. I had 1 billion questions and doubts about if I was ready so this helped a lot :)

No doubt that when picking an Online YTT - you must be very very picky with who you do it with. I highly highly recommend Awakening Yoga Academy (carling harps, patrick beach).

Open to sharing my experience if anyone wants to hear!

Fell out of Yoga, convince me to start anew!

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 03:54 PM PDT

So I LOVE yoga, I love the feeling in my muscles and the progression of the poses, I love doing it outside and feeling the nature! BUT I fell out of it because of "yoga culture". Every time I go to a class it's a bunch of vegan 18 ur olds gibbering away. Or older ladies who just want to stretch and wear lululemon. I know these are mean generalizations but it's ruining my connection, everytime I tried to get back into it I felt silly like I was dumb for trying to hard or caring about this hobby/exercise/meditation. I know u all understand what I mean! I want to get back into it everyday as a SOLO yogi, but I just can't seem to make myself do it. I have a wonderful spot in the yard that would be perfect and I have my mat propped up next to the door. Help!

Thinking of replacing dirt magnet Jade mat

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 04:41 PM PDT

I've had my Jade Harmony mat for maybe 7 years now, practising on and off during that time. It is an absolute dirt magnet and I find it very distracting. I vacuum once or twice a week, but it still attracts every bit fluff and hair in the room. Are all mats like that? My previous one was a cheapie, so can't really compare. I'm thinking of getting a Manduka Pro 85" because I'd like a little more room, and not sure if I can justify the purchase. The dirt magnet factor would cinch it for me. Thanks!

Mat Review: Disappointed by the $50 Solaris cork mat

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 12:41 PM PDT

I'm the one who posted my worn out on the right side mat a few weeks ago. I spent $50 on the Solaris cork mat thinking it would be perfect for me as I practice outdoors in a high humidity climate. Turns out the mat is very thin and not dense enough to provide enough cushioning. The cork looks cool but doesn't provide the anti-slip properties promised. The corks also feels loosely glued on and will likely crumble off soon.

A mat is a mat. For the price point though I can stick to the $4.99 ones sold at drug stores.

I've been practicing yoga for a few years now but what I really love is Restorative and would like to be trained to teach it. What I would like to know is:

    1. Do you have to have regular yoga training to be a restorative instructor
    2. Any suggestions on a program I could take

    Thank you

    Best custom yoga mats?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 10:16 AM PDT

Hello everyone! After two years I think its time to upgrade my yoga mat. I have a cool idea for a custom design I really want. But there seems to be tons of different websites that do custome mats and I dont know which to go with. Im looking for a very high quality mat that stays grippy without having to put a towel on top during hot yoga classes. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Struggling to have full hands contact with matt

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 05:20 AM PDT

Hello everyone! I am very new to yoga, and I noticed that I am struggling to have a full hand contact with yoga matt. My fingers start bending and the pressure is really hard on some point of my palm. Do you know if there is a way to make my hands and fingers more flexible?

Can you look at this workout and see if I could improve on it?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 10:16 AM PDT

Getting back into running this year and bought a watch, Garmin Venu, that has yoga workouts for flexibility. I kind of was cool with the one they had but it was a little confusing on which side I was supposed to be working on so I used that one as a template of sorts and made one up. Only real problem I have is that I'm super new to Yoga and not sure if my deviations are ok or dumb. (All came from the garmin flexibility workout unless noted.) Please let me know if you would add anything that would help with running or injury prevention. And I would like to add in a couple that help with posture.

    1. Easy Seated Pose 00:15
    2. Seated Easy Side Bend Pose 00:15
    3. Seated Easy Twist Pose 00:15
    4. Seated Easy Side Bend Pose 00:15
    5. Seated Easy Twist Pose 00:15
    6. All Fours Pose 00:20
    7. Cat 00:10
    8. Cow 00:10
    9. Cat 00:10
    10. Cow 00:10
    11. Cat 00:10
    12. Cow 00:10
    13. Cat 00:10
    14. Cow 00:10
    15. Thread The Needle Pose 00:45
    16. Thread The Needle Pose 00:45
    17. Downward Facing Dog Pose 00:30
    18. Upward Facing Dog Pose 00:30 (I added this.)
    19. Low Lunge Pose 00:30
    20. Low Lunge With Knee Down Pose 00:30
    21. Runners Lunge Pose 00:30
    22. Standing Single Leg Forward Bend Pose 00:30
    23. Standing Single Leg Forward Bend with IT Band Opener Pose 00:30
    24. Standing Forward Fold Legs Crossed 00:30 (I added this one because of IT band benefits.)
    25. Low Lunge Pose 00:30
    26. Low Lunge With Knee Down Pose 00:30
    27. Runners Lunge Pose 00:30
    28. Standing Single Leg Forward Bend Pose 00:30
    29. Standing Single Leg Forward Bend with IT Band Opener Pose 00:30
    30. Standing Forward Fold Legs Crossed 00:30 (I added this one because of IT band benefits.)
    31. Standing Arms Up Pose 00:30 (I added this one as a breather of sorts and to transition into the next.)
    32. Standing Wide Leg Forward Bend Pose 00:30 (Added this for hamstrings.)
    33. Garland Pose 00:30 (Added this because I read where it could help with Plantar Fasciitis.)
    34. Toe Squat Pose 00:30 (Added this for the same reason as above.)
    35. Child Pose 01:00
    36. Bound Angle Pose 01:00 (Added this one for some groin stretches.)

I feel like its good and I have noticed improvement in some of the exercises, being able to go deeper into some of them. Improvement in flexibility at work. My calf and butt is less tight than it was a few weeks ago. I'm afraid I have missed something obvious to you. Any insight will be appreciated.

Can you recommend some (gentle) poses to help shoulder impingment?

My left shoulder is pretty screwed up thanks to, I guess, the way I sleep. Never had this issue before, but there you go. Nothing too stressful or advanced, please. Thanks

    Corepower Yoga for beginners?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 06:41 AM PDT

I struggle a lot with exercising and am not very fit. I'm looking for a way to break out of that routine and was thinking of trying Corepower yoga since there's one very close to me. Would it be a good idea for a beginner with a very low fitness level?
