- [COMP] Daily yoga 2 months in, trying to focus on mastering basic poses instead of more advanced ones. Which downward dog looks better? Criticism highly appreciated.

- I recently read in the comment section on post here that modern hatha yoga isn’t really that ancient and not even that Indian. Like 100 years ago some savvy Indian exercise scientists combined elements of yoga with Swiss calisthenics. Is this true?

No yoga studio near me. Is watching YT tutorials effective? Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:50 PM PDT Hi. I am from the PH and there are no yoga studio near me. I have been doing yoga stretching for a month now and would like to learn inversions. I only have YT to guide me in my yoga sessions at home. If i were to learn inversions, is it safe to follow YT videos? Has anyone here successfully learned inversion by just watching videos? Thank you in advance. [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 Apr 2021 07:07 AM PDT I have a mix of 3 diffeerent anxiety disorders and I have been doing yoga daily for just over 3 weeks and I have almost no anxiety anymore. Is it simply because it is exersise or does it have to do with exersise and the breathing motions that come with doing yoga? [link] [comments]
Advice on getting through yoga teacher training when you want to quit Posted: 09 Apr 2021 02:35 PM PDT Hello yogis. I'm currently halfway through a yoga teacher training program and to be honest, I hate it. Being forced to practice twice a week has ruined the joy of my own practice, and I find that a lot of the class is about philosophy and spiritual wellness, which frankly feels forced for me. I am not connecting with the material. I cannot quit, as I cannot get a refund. I have reached out to the mentors about my struggles but other than suggesting I join a later cohort, they had nothing helpful to offer. They treat yoga as a business so it doesn't matter to them that I am miserable. I would appreciate any uplifting advice to help make it through. Thank you. [link] [comments]

Recommended practices/sequences (I am a beginner) Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:58 AM PDT I have a muscle strain from poor posture and overuse (played drums in a band for 4 yrs) in between my shoulder and spine, it affects the lower and upper traps, lats, rotator cuff and serratus. Childs pose is particularly effective when it comes to stretching this painful area, I was hoping for a recommendation, thanks! [link] [comments]
