| I can't stop crying every time I practice Posted: 28 Apr 2021 03:46 PM PDT I lost my partner several weeks ago and am only recently getting back into a routine of sorts, which for me included yoga every evening. Lately no matter what I do, whether it's following a video or an app or just flowing on my own, I find myself sobbing like 4 or 5 minutes in, especially if I do any stretching of the hips. I've never experienced anything like this before, yoga has never been emotional for me. I don't cry when I do other routine things like run or walk or journal even. I know it's partially because I'm sad about my partner but I could go all day without thinking of them and then as soon as I get into yoga the tears just start coming. What the hell? | Question about a slightly NSFW trend I see in yoga social media pics lately Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:11 PM PDT So, maybe I'm crazy but I have to ask someone else who might know what I'm talking about. On Instagram and Facebook, I'm noticing a trend where women are doing yoga poses so as to obviously and shamelessly show off, well, their vaginas. Fully clothed of course. But what is up with this? These are yogini influencers and I don't think this trend reflects well upon yoga in general. Maybe I'm just a prude? I just dont get why anyone wants to see that. I won't link any pictures so as not to single any specific person out. But does anybody else notice this? Am I just being old? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:17 PM PDT Hellooo!! What are your thoughts on hot yoga? I'm a novice yogi and wanted to try it out, but I've heard loads of mixed reviews. What are some things you might advise me on before trying it? Thank you 💜☮️ [link] [comments] |
| coming back to yoga. advice please Posted: 28 Apr 2021 01:08 PM PDT sorry if this is long at all but I want to be honest and just explain the situation i am figuring out! So I have been trying to take better care of myself for a while and wanted to get super into fitness so I kinda stopped doing yoga and kinda got into some restrictive things like forcing myself to work out multiple times a day, calorie counting, never having any "cheat" meals, etc. last night i had a really horrible experience with a group of fitness people on facebook, with body shaming and pretty much telling me my bloating gets so extreme they think i'm photoshopping my pictures and that I was a liar etc etc. it's was very weird, and i have been confused and lost about how something meant to help people turned into something so awful. was just really hurtful because I wasn't lying about anything, was just trying to show people how bloating is normal, and was being raw and real because I thought it could help people. long story short it consumed my night, and quite literally just turned me off the fitness program i was doing, as life is too short to allow negativity like that into my life. anyway, sorry for the rant, just thought it would show you a big reason of why I want to fall back to yoga again. as of today i've kind of realized I miss yoga and don't want that to be how I treat myself and health anymore. so I guess I was wondering if you have any tips on having yoga as like my main form of workout and then doing workout vids and the gym on the side too type thing? I just want to have a good relationship with food, my body and mind and I think I need to let go of the restrictive habits and focus on yoga again but also would like to get in good shape if possible in a healthy way. any tips about yoga benefits you physically, mentally, etc. or how you balance It with other workouts are all appreciated. or anything really! thanks in advance. | Yoga is the art of giving yourself what you need Posted: 28 Apr 2021 02:12 AM PDT Once you allow yourself to enjoy the first benefits, body and mind will ask for more. Then, just let it happen. Namasté [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 28 Apr 2021 02:33 PM PDT Hi! I notice when I do yoga consistently the bottoms of my forefeet hurt. Although some of the soreness makes sense because I'm using this area more I am confused because my skin is "shredding" a bit under my big toes as well as at the edge of the bottom on my pinky toes. I have a feeling this has something to do with the way I'm distributing weight in my feet because these are also areas I have callouses. Am recommendations? I'm pretty proud of my current yoga streak and I want to keep it up. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 28 Apr 2021 05:32 AM PDT I have been practicing on and off for about a few months. Like the title says, I tend to have slippery palms on the mat while in downward facing dog. Am I not gripping right or anything I can put on to avoid slips? Edit- Thank you for all your replies. As almost all of you recommended a new mat, I'll definitely get a new one and see if that helps. | Question — what is the spiritual or emotional significance behind extremely tight hamstrings? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:01 AM PDT Hello all, as the title states i'm curious about the meaning behind tight hamstrings. It seems I have an emotional blockage or something preventing me from fully letting go and deepening my hamstring stretches but I don't know what it is. I'm hoping that maybe some thoughtful responses could give me a hint. Thank you 💜 [link] [comments] |
| Trying to build stretching into my routine but just freaked myself out! Is this normal? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 12:20 AM PDT I was just stretching out my neck following a sun salutation. I did some neck rolls both clockwise and anti-clockwise, both of which made me really dizzy. After this subsided, I did an upper trap stretch by tilting my neck to one side (towards my right shoulder) I started to get really dizzy, as if I was going to pass out, vision went funny and I quickly came out of it and noticed my left arm was super tingly. It really scared me and I'm not sure if it's normal. I have booked an appointment with my GP but I have health anxiety (one of the reasons I'm trying to build yoga into my routine) and don't know if I'm freaking out for no reason. Anyone have any ideas about why this could happen? Thanks!! [link] [comments] |
| has anyone had success flattening a portion of grass? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:56 AM PDT i wanna do yoga outside but my ground is too bumpy and not level. i was wondering if there was an easy way to fix this. i was thinking of just trying to put dirt down, but i dont know how good that would work. | Posted: 28 Apr 2021 05:44 AM PDT I broke my toe last Friday. Right foot, the one next to the pinky. I can walk, but fitness has been put on hold. I'm a plus-size yogi who has been doing yoga in my living room for the past three months. I have put together a list of poses I run through in the mornings. Each day is different. I've got props and straps for modifications. This morning with my broke toe, I did some floor stretches and twists. I tried Mountain and Forward Fold. Child's pose and Puppy Pose were fine. Mostly I am drawing a blank on poses that I can do in the meantime that won't put pressure on that foot. Downward Dog is out. Warrior II is out. Maybe Camel? [link] [comments] |
