[COMP] This was a super fun free flow. I have been loving playing with different transitions and adding in some more strength poses!

r/handstand is pretty empty. Any handwork experts in here? I cannot, for the life of me, balance on one hand. Any advice/secrets/tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Newbie with weak wrists

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 06:54 PM PDT

    👋🏼

I've dipped into yoga on and off for the last 7 years but have been doing a 30 day yoga challenge and really want to transition my practice into a long lasting habit. I'm already seeing the benefits from a mental health and flexibility perspective (ie my body doesn't just hurt for no reason haha).

I have been predominately strength training at the gym for the last few years, but something I struggle with is strength and stability in my wrists and shoulders. Considering many yogis "resting" position is downward dog, this can be quite the challenge for me! Does anyone have any advice or guidance for strengthening the wrists to make these poses more comfortable?

    Thanks!

That moment when your body figures out how to control a part of a muscle that you never realized was there before.

I love the fine-tuning element. There's always something to reach for in each pose; so much to analyze, yet relax through.

I feel like I grow with every session, in little ways each time. I remember to keep that part straighter, square off here... but then I suddenly realize I can ease into the joint a little more than I thought, it feels good and right and I don't even remotely care that I can't stretch my arm up that high yet.

    I'm just enjoying the ride.

Finding a studio, that's not repetitive

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 01:56 PM PDT

I started doing yoga at home following YouTubers and found I loved it. A studio opened very near the house and I went for the introductory month. It was fantastic at first but the 3 classes quickly became repetitive. A substitute beca the best thing ever. I stopped when covid blew up in my state but I'm ready to get back into it. How do I find a studio that will keep poses and flows interesting?

i do hot power yoga in a local class twice per week, but seeking to do a more mindful, meditative, and stretching type practice at home maybe 2 times per week at night

How often/how do you clean your mat towel?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 12:14 PM PDT

I purchased a mat towel and used it for the first time today. It didn't get too sweaty other than a spot or 2 so I'm thinking of using it twice and then washing it. Does anyone have advice on how to spot clean between washes or HOW I even wash it? I don't want to ruin the material of it.

I was thinking of spraying Lysol on it just in between washes but I'm not too sure if that's safe to do or not. Let a girl know please!!!

    The Voice of Babaji

Chapter XI of "The Voice of Babaji—A Trilogy on Kriya Yoga," by V.T. Neelakantan, S.A.A. Ramaiah, Babaji Nagaraj.

The first paragraph on page 211 clearly shows how the One plane allows for freedom. In a single frame, every aspect is whole. Through the seeming conflict of the of the world, there is a plane which every one is in. "The light shineth in the darkness and the darkness understandeth it not," or close to the quote (don't remember exactly). Suffice it to say, the darkness is a mere shadow of Light, with seeming consciousness. Yet, just as a shadow moves in reference to an object in the sun, it is not separate. The plane is all encompassing. For this reason, it is a privilege to be in. To leave is to change the delegation of Love and alter the character of a person. For this reason, it is not a responsibility or a privilege to communicate with darkness, for in being darkness It has complete dictatorship of what vibration it is in, seemingly. To communicate Light to Light is the method, for it is the only thing which is True. If apparent darkness is there, see it only in reference to Light, for that what the apparent darkness is. God is all; "Aum Kriya Babaji Namaha, Satguru deva Namaste, Satguru deva dayakapara, satguru deva kshama." God is all—Do not give the darkness the privilege of your precious love. The God is all—their mere vibration should be seen as such. Allow the never-ending clarity of Light to be the in residence, do not listen or take queues from darkness, for it is acting in a single vibration, not clarity, which is synonymous and the same as Light.

Anyone got any good yin sequences one can do alone at home?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 10:24 AM PDT

I'm trying to get back into yoga to help with my chronic back pain and need some simple yin sequences.

Focusing on the back as much as possible would be great, and if there's anything for wrists and forearms that'd be awesome too (constant piano practice and rock climbing means my hands and arms are perpetually sore and tight)

I know most of the common yin poses already so if anyone would be willing to just drop me a sequence or two, maybe with a general length of time for each pose, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm thinking around an hour is what I'm going for with each session.

Or if anyone knows of any good resources that'd help that'd be great too.

I've been trying to make my own sequences but since I don't know what I'm doing I'm worried I might mess myself up worse doing incompatible poses or whatever.

    Thanks anybody!

    TL;DR

I could use some simple yin sequences I can do at home. Names of poses in order is all I need.

    Knees pain

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 06:54 AM PDT

Hi all, I've been doing yoga for the past 4 years, always vinyasa and power yoga. Now I'm switching to ashtanga, I have to say I really love it, but from a couple of weeks I'm experiencing knee pain, I feel it inside the knee. The matter is that I don't feel like I'm pushing too far during the practice. Any suggestion people?

Yoga + guided meditations - is that a thing?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 09:21 PM PDT

    Hi r/yoga! 👋

(I did a check on the FAQ and searched, couldn't find an answer, so I'll ask now).

I do both meditation and yoga every day. While doing yoga, I usually have meditation music/beats on. Is it possible to do a guided meditation (or listen to that or affirmations) at the same time? Does it take away from the purpose of yoga if there's some type of other background noise that isn't chants/light instrumental music?

If it helps, I'm mainly practicing yin right now.

    Thank you in advance!
