Why does it take everyone 2 weeks to a few months to get their splits on this subreddit/YouTube, except me?

    Posted: 16 May 2021 08:30 AM PDT

I've been doing yoga for 3.5 years. And have been working on my splits for a over a year. Yes I'm using proper technique, yes I'm taking breaks, but also increasing intensity in intervals. Yes I've taken time off during plateaus. Yes I've done PNF. Yes I've found all the best stretches. Yes I've committed months and months and months of time. Yes I warm up before stretching. And I still don't have the splits. So what's the issue? Is my body that inept? Am I the only person who can't get the splits the same year they started? Is there anyone else out there who's been working over a year and still doesn't have their splits? Just me, okay. It's frustrating to see how little time others have to put, while I'm using years of my life to get the splits, and still can't. Then there's people up here who've "never stretched", but by the end of the month, they can do the splits. Is this normal? Or am I just being fooled? Can someone please give me some support that I'm not alone lol. I feel like crying because I've put so many hours into this, just to not reach the goal. Yes I'm ranting, and not adding anything helpful lol. I've just been focused on this goal for so long and so many things have stood in my way during it (sciatica/emergency surgery, etcc), yet I kept/keep coming back and pushing. I've stuck to it with all my might and passion, and still, no splits. ):
