Good 10-20minute routine for beginner? Posted: 20 May 2021 08:42 PM PDT Hey all! Sorry for the basic question. I have been trying to start yoga as a daily routine to improve wellbeing and mental health. I looked up a lot of YouTube videos for short routines and tried many, most I don't feel much from it because it's too light and some have a lot of repeated techniques. I know it's probably down to length and the less focused aspects like breathing that give the benefits but I want to make it a habit over time. Are there any short routines I can try that get straight to the point and have the 'major' movements I can do every day? [link] [comments] |

Tips for transitions (step-through/ jump-through) with long femurs? Posted: 20 May 2021 08:47 AM PDT I've practiced various types of yoga on and off for 20 years. I've dealt with several frustrations over the years, most of which I've been able to find solutions for. The one that I've never been able to find a solution for (and nearly threw me into a rage today) is that my femurs are disproportionately long: really long. I can't physically do step-throughs or jump-throughs, as my arms are just too short in relation to my femur length. I've tried to modify my step-through over the years, but I've never found something that actually permits me to get my foot between my hands. I've never even come close on a jump-through. Blocks give me enough length in my arms to do a step-through (getting up on my fingertips doesn't), but I don't need the blocks for the poses that I'm generally transitioning out of (usually downward facing dog). I would have to place blocks under my hands for downward facing dog, or place them under my hands before performing a step-through or jump-through out of DFD and into a forward fold (or similar). That just seems silly to me. I'm perfectly happy to use blocks, bolsters, blankets, and straps to get into (or hold) a pose, but to do so for a transition seems an unnecessary distraction from the practice. Does anyone have any tips they could share? I'd love to be able to pull off a more graceful transition. Maybe I just need to stop trying and just walk to the top of the mat? [link] [comments] |

Looking for best routines for kyphosis and forward head posture Posted: 20 May 2021 07:42 AM PDT Looking for suggestions for the best routines on youtube that focus a lot on kyphosis and forward head and neck posture. Preferably at least 30 minutes long. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
People with social anxiety have you ever tried yoga?? Posted: 20 May 2021 12:42 AM PDT I have always heard how meditation can impact social anxiety ,but never heard yoga can have impact on mental health too ...has any experienced any difference in social anxiety with yoga ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 May 2021 09:00 AM PDT Hi everyone. I've been using the app down dog to do yoga and I've noticed that whenever i fold, my spine and back curve. I've been trying to correct this but cannot keep my back straight. This isn't a little bend in the back either, I can fold completely but the majority of the fold is done by my back. Any advice would be apreciated! [link] [comments] |
How to "progress" in yoga? A stupid question from someone who lifts Posted: 20 May 2021 04:59 AM PDT I lift weights so its easy to see my progress based on how much I can lift and energy levels and generally whether I feel good or not. I've tried yoga a few times but I get demotivated because unlike lifting or running, I don't see progress. I know it may sound stupid to ask you about progress in yoga .. But is there a yoga routine or programme that would help me track that? Is progress even a thing in yoga? What constitutes progress in yoga? [link] [comments] |
I made progress this week and I wanted to share!! Posted: 19 May 2021 09:23 PM PDT I've been practicing yoga on and off for two years but I've only been doing it regularly again for the past five months. I was struggling with my dolphin and getting my feet flat on the floor, but I managed to get them down a few days ago! I also did my first successful headstand against a wall, hopefully I can do a proper headstand soon :) [link] [comments] |
