| Am I approaching ashtanga correctly? Posted: 16 Jun 2021 08:15 AM PDT I have been doing random yoga videos online for the past ~1.5 years. I started with two 30-day challenges to get a good foundation, then watched a stand-alone 20-40 minute yoga video 2-5 times a week. I want to move to Ashtanga because I am very interested in how there is a progressional element to it. The 30-day challenges were progressional, but after doing a couple of them, I found them to get boring and focus too much on the fundamentals for me (I guess there is no such thing as too much fundamentals, but I wanted something more lol). How I plan to approach ashtanga:
Is there a certain way to approach this? I just chose that method because it seemed intuitive, but I am not sure if there is a specific way in this lineage to approach asanas. Thank you yogis [link] [comments] |
| Are knee injuries common on Ashtanga? How to avoid them? Posted: 16 Jun 2021 08:55 AM PDT Got completely addicted to Ashtanga during Lockdown 1.0 consistently doing half primary 6 times a week. Noticed a small cyst appearing behind my left knee completely benign for 2 months. Last 6 months my practice has been completely limited by this cyst, suffering with a lot of pain on the knee after the practice, even walking is a struggle now. For a while doctors thought it was a Baker's Cyst, exams shows its not and no one seems to be able to explain why its there or what cause it... Is this a common injury anyone heard about? Can anyone provide any advice to avoid this getting aggravated? Ashtanga changed my life, I need it back so bad... [link] [comments] |
