    Newcomer question: is forward bend stretch good or bad for my back?

    I have recently started doing some stretches (for splits and back through app) and I've been wondering whether stretches that are supposed to bend your spine forward (hamstrings?) have a good, neutral or bad effect on my back. If bad, how can practise such exercises in more healthy way? Thanks in advance.

    My Legs

    I sat down and put my legs in front of me. I haven't stretched for days, and as I'm pulling myself forward, the bones connecting my hips to my thighs feel like they're being pulled out of their sockets. When I get to a certain point, my legs jerk inward, and I'm so scared. Am I breaking something? Am I hurting my body in any way? What should I be looking for when reaching for my toes in this position?
