| I really need some help, life collapsing Posted: 15 Jun 2021 11:11 PM PDT I've had a fairly terrible last few years . I took care of my only parent while they were dying of a newly diagnosed terminal illness.. while being forced to finish school. The stress compounded when they passed away and I had to not only take over every bill while finishing school, now get ready for the bar exam. I almost lost my home recently and spent 2 days fighting against that. I'm so physically stressed that my body is beyond tight, I'm tired, it's difficult to breath given how body tight I am. It's like I'm in a fog of shallow breathing all day. Even my hips just refuse to cooperate I know breathing from the belly can help, instead of having that shoulder breathing going on like me. I know so little about yoga poses . I'm asking for some beginner help. Can someone recommend a routine? My main issue is the breathing steaming from a really tight back. Today it got so bad that my neck was just frozen thrusted forward in pain. I just want to not feel like a statue who is always on edge from shallow breathing.. I don't want a handout. Just...some guidance . [link] [comments] |
| Hard surface for yoga on carpet? Posted: 16 Jun 2021 02:15 PM PDT Hi friends! We just moved to a house which has a lovely room that I can dedicate to yoga. However, it's carpeted, and this doesn't work for me. Does anyone have experience with this? How did you solve this issue? I've looked at a few portable flooring options but I'd like some experienced opinions. [link] [comments] |
| Weakness in scapula, abs, adductors? Posted: 16 Jun 2021 12:48 PM PDT Hey I've been having shakes in those areas all of a sudden, anyone experience something like that? It's been giving me heart palpitations and some difficulty breathing. Also having pain in my hip. I've been to doctors and nothing [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 16 Jun 2021 10:28 AM PDT Hi! The other day after I finished my (gentle) yoga practice I felt dizzy for like half an hour, like getting a headrush that persists longer. I'm wondering if I was doing something wrong? Did other people have a similar experience? I wasn't doing any crazy poses like inversions, the only poses that could be problematic were forward fold and downward dog. I did realize after trying to look up the causes that I might have been dehydrated. I'm just wondering if anyone else had this experience or if anyone has some input. I have put off doing yoga since then because I'm worried I'm doing something wrong but I really want to continue because it's my number one self-care routine for anxiety. Thank you! | Posted: 16 Jun 2021 08:53 AM PDT Hello all! I have dabbled in all sorts of yoga and meditation over the past few years from basic flow, vinyasa, and ashtanga practices. My meditations have stemmed from reading through Hinayana and Mahayaha and Dzogchen texts, and mainly practicing breath based and concentration meditations. Recently, over the past 8 months or so, I have only been doing sitting meditation and found my practice to be very rewarding at some times and other times a bit of a drag (although ups and downs are to be expected). My physical and what I would call kriya and/or sort of bhakti flavors of practice have been absent. I am looking to get back into physical and some devotional practices to help keep me on track and help improve my overall relationship with yoga, and have heard good things about the book mentioned in the title. I am asking about it because it seems like an all in one course on yoga and kriya that takes you day by day or week by week with lesson plans, etc. I am looking for a package like this that will help me develop a practice and have it relate to many of the other paths I am interested in (in meditation specifically). Wondering if anyone has read and followed this book, if they enjoyed it or not, or if they recommend another book that serves a similar purpose in taking someone from the beginning of physical practice and helps develop their practice overtime by this kind of lesson plan regimen, and tying it all together within the systems of yoga. Many thanks. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 16 Jun 2021 07:26 AM PDT I was never aware that I was stiff until people told me. Not sure if me also not having a good posture also add to that problem. Could it also be my confidence in myself? [link] [comments] |

| Sleeping swan/pigeon pose pain during yin yoga? Posted: 16 Jun 2021 06:57 AM PDT Hello, I've always had difficulty with the sleeping swan (aka pigeon pose) over the years (especially during yin where this position needs to be held for a few minutes). Is this an indication of lack of flexibility in my hips or just a factor of my anatomy? How can I modify this pose to make it less painful? Thank you [link] [comments] |
| Seated forward fold, lower back, HELP!! Posted: 16 Jun 2021 04:29 AM PDT I was going through some simple stretches this morning. I was doing a seated forward fold. I was lengthening my spine and trying to go a little deeper when I felt (not heard) something pop in my lower back. I definitely went deeper, but I immediately shot up from the pain. From there on, almost everything hurt: plank, cat/cow, mountain pose. I can't even really stand up straight. I don't want to miss out on practice tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to counter this? | Are my knees to big/wide for crow pose? Posted: 16 Jun 2021 01:33 AM PDT I feel a bit dumb for posting this but this thought has haunted me for 2 years now. I have been trying to get into crow pose for a long time but I feel like my big knees literally go over my (super) tiny arms and I can't seem to find balance. Is this normal? I've always had a way bigger lower body than upper body. Would love to hear if any of you had this issue and managed to work your way through it. [link] [comments] |
