[COMP] Long time no arm balance for me after an injury!

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 03:30 AM PDT

[COMP] Last yoga session with my wife was two weeks ago in Abu Dhabi. Here's a nostalgic look at the foundation of my life. We called this the 10 limbed handstand it requires, practice, patience, trust and union. Just like any good moment of yoga. ✌

[COMP] Headstand after a year of work! Any advice on where to go from here?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:51 AM PDT

Anyone else no longer practice Chaturanga Dandasana? I have a shoulder injury that I’ve learned becomes worse when I include the pose in my practice. I also met a guy in class the other day that severely injured his shoulder doing Chaturanga wrong.

How do I go about starting arm balance and inversion poses?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:21 PM PDT

    Hello,

I started doing yoga a few months ago when I subscribed to Yoga Download. I am loving it so far. My question is, how do I know what poses to do and how to progress? The subscription service has access to so many video's, but I haven't found much education on what they are. If I want to start working on arm presses or inversions, how would I go about that? I know I can filter the videos to show those, but I haven't happened into any that are very educational on what I'm doing and how I should be doing it.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to get the education I need to do this? I have looked through the resources in the side bar but I haven't found what I am looking for.

What school(s) of yoga follow the same sequence of moves in every practice?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 02:28 PM PDT

I've been doing yoga every day for ages now. I mostly use Adrienes videos. It is truly a life changing practice and I'm so glad I started it!

I want to begin a practice that is the same sequence every day. My goal is to move away from videos and just learn a good sequence.

Any suggestions would be super appreciated 🙏

30 days of yoga - bad experience

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:53 AM PDT

So recently I've tried doing 30 days of yoga and really didn't find it very beneficial for me.

The main thing I found really difficult was bringing together the stretching and exercise with the meditative side of it. I've had significant knee injuries over the last 5 years, which have caused me to have massively tight muscles and my balance has really suffered for it. During my 30 days experience, I particularly found it hard to focus on the more spiritual side of things, and while the stretching was beneficial, I didn't feel like I got the full experience.

I was wondering if anyone else had particular difficulty getting into the exercises from a calming and meditative side of things, and if there's any further advice. Is there a way to split them up initially and then bring them together, or any specifically good tutorials for complete beginners who struggle with stretching/muscle work?

    A delicate situation

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:54 AM PDT

My partner and I have started doing yoga sessions together, however he has raised an issue regarding his uh.. genitals. The genitals are getting in the way. As he has discovered, certain positions such as cobra can be quite painful for those with male reproductive organs. Any advice from those who have found themselves in the same situation? He really wants to continue the practice, preferably without the discomfort.

My runner's lunge is asymmetrical in the front

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:06 AM PDT

    Hi!

First time poster, long-time reader. I've picked my yoga practice back up over the last month or so, and in following Adriene's "Home" series I do runner's lunge fairly frequently. I'm always struggling with this one though - and I'm not sure if it's a matter of flexibility, alignment or just my proportions aka big boobs getting in the way.

The legs are fine, but I'm not sure if my torso is in the right position. I can lower my upper body so my knee is resting against my chest/armpit, but I can only get the very fingertips to the floor - and forget about the prompting of lifting the chest, it feels very cramped once I'm down there, and my hands lift up if I try. The arm that extends outside the front leg also feels like it has a harder time connecting to the floor than the other one.

Is this just a matter of having to adjust over time and become more flexible to sink into it, or is it a common problem that others experience too?

    How often is too often?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 08:08 AM PDT

Trying 30 days of Yoga with Adrianne on You tube.

I have been doing everyday except Fridays. I have done one set of 30, about 20 days into the 2nd.

I have been making amazing progress but in the mornings I have started to get terrible pain. I used to weightlift and it's very similar to something called DOMS or Delayed onset muscle soreness.

One of my big mistakes with Weights was "powering through" the pain the next day. I don't want to make the same mistake with Yoga.

How can I tell if I am sore "normally" (good soreness) or I do not rest enough?

Does ancient yoga techniques help build bones (and muscles)?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 12:37 PM PDT

I feel my mom does not have strong bones. She is doing yoga for many years now. However still the issue of not so strong bones persist. So I was thinking whether yoga helps in strengthening bones in any way. As per my understanding yoga has solution for all health issues and should have some asanas that help build strong bones.

Strength training help build muscles which in turn build strong bones. So I was thinking if there are asanas which can build strong bones like strength training. Also I want to know if there are asanas originally taught by ancient yogas (say hathayoga or astang yoga) for bone and muscle building and not those derived by modern teachers / trainers.

Does anyone have any experience with Alo Yoga's sports bras/tanks?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:06 AM PDT

Like the title says, I'd like to hear from anyone how they feel about Alo's bras? I have some of their longsleeve products and some leggings, but never tried their bras because I typically buy that kind of thing in person. The only reviews for this kind of thing I can find are always Lululemon (I have one of their bras but not a fan of rest of them)

I am smaller with a bigger chest (32 DD) and it is hard to find tops that support and as a bonus look cute or flattering. I'd like something I can do my home practice and also teach in!

Program or app that includes yoga AND weight training?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 10:27 AM PDT

Hi! Is anyone familiar with an app or program that has scheduled yoga and weight training days (like dumbbells)? So it's not necessarily doing yoga with dumbbells but they build off each other. Just curious, thanks!

    What should I do ?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 04:09 PM PDT

I fell in love with yoga 6 months ago , completely changed my life and body .

But I'd like to take it a step further , I see some of these guys on Instagram doing cool looking poses with tons of followers.

What are some ways a person can explore yoga even more and get themselves out there ?

Should I make YouTube videos ? Just Instagram post ?

Need help. Stretching diaphragm makes me collapse.

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 06:08 AM PDT

so ever since about a year ago ive had this issue where when i stretch the front of my abdomen for example the muscle group one would stretch in the cobra position, if my lungs are full of air and i stretch this overwhelming feeling hits me like a truck. its like everything starts shaking and ive fallen on the floor a couple of times while doing the standing stretch. while it happens i can hardly process anything and i cant even stand. the only way i can describe it is like everything starts spinning and i cant think straight. it only last for a couple second and afterwards i return to normal. ive tried looking this up on google but i cant find anything. has anyone else had this? does anyone know what this is or whats going on?
