Ashtanga yoga: Keeping up with my practice with a broken toe (cast) |
Keeping up with my practice with a broken toe (cast) Posted: 21 Jul 2021 01:45 AM PDT Hi everyone, 10 days ago, I broke my big toe (intra articular fracture of the proximal phalanx if anyone cares) while jumping back from a tuck handstand to chaturanga. I now have my foot and ankle in a cast for another 4-6 weeks. Besides thinking about how silly this injury is, what do I do? I recently started practising the intermediate series and the day before the injury finally got to my toes in kapotasana (with the teacher's help). I know I can use this time to focus on pranayama and meditation, but I feel physically bad from not moving at all/enough, and I would also like to at least somewhat maintain my asana practice. Today, I tried just hanging out on the mat to see what I can do - it's not much since I can't lean on or push into the foot. So I thought that making a little plan might be nicer (and give me back some of the structure I miss) than trying to figure out a flow while on the mat. Any ideas on what I might include in my one-foot practice? Any other advice or ideas that might make the next 4-6 weeks a bit nicer are also very welcome :) Thank you for reading x [link] [comments] |
