Ashtanga yoga: Returning to practice |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 08:31 PM PDT After months off for no real reason except covid fatigue and lack of motivation, I am now trying to return to my daily practice. Sore as hell and have 'lost' my bind in Mari D but trying to take it one day at a time and build strength. Any tips to keep going or re-program my body to get back into the lifestyle would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 06:53 PM PDT I started Ashtanga about a month ago and I've noticed my energy levels go to complete shit. I've always been a hyperactive guy but this is the first time a physical activity leaves me on my ass. I have a BMR of about 2k a day and before I started Ashtanga I would burn about 1k calories a day 5x a week if that helps any. I would workout at the gym for about an hour and then head over to the studio for a Vinyasa flow and I maintained this for a while but started doing Ashtanga as I found it was a deeper practice at least for myself. But once I started my energy levels sunk like crazy. I've dropped weightlifting altogether to focus more on Ashtanga yet my energy levels are still out of whack being that I have to sleep an extra 2-3 hours during the day. I've gradually been increasing the frequency per week until I reach 6 days like its intended to be but I want to know if this is a normal thing and what suggestions you guys might have. Thanks!!!
