Ashtanga yoga: Shalas in Brooklyn? |
- Shalas in Brooklyn?

Posted: 27 Jul 2021 06:19 AM PDT Hello! I'm looking to move to Brooklyn or Manhattan and really want to find a Mysore shala in either (don't laugh but this might be what makes my decision between the two). In Manhattan I know there's a few (Ashtanga Yoga UWS, Alphabet City, and Michael Guiou at Kula Yoga in Noho). I saw a listing for one shala in Brooklyn a while back. It looked closed and I can't find it again. If I did move to Brooklyn, it would be around Williamsburg, maybe Bushwick, but definitely within that proximity to the city. Anyone know of any shalas? And if there are more shalas in Manhattan that I haven't listed please let me know! Thank you 🙏🏽 [link] [comments] |
Need reassurance and guidance, please Posted: 27 Jul 2021 09:01 AM PDT I'm almost a year into my Ashtanga practice and I'm stuck on marichyasana D since November. I've injured my right knee pulling a ligament in lotus, and now I'm having shoulder pains in both my shoulders, and both injuries have been holding me back a lot from being consistent. My knee injury hasn't fully healed six months in. My practice is so modified at this point that all the challenging and fun stuff I like to do is no longer accessible at this time. And I just feel so incredibly frustrated, wondering if this is the right practice for me. Doing the same routine and never going anywhere, this practice feels like three steps forward three steps back for me. And I'm spending SO much time doing this practice. Additionally, I just feel like Ashtanga favors body types that aren't like mine and I have no role models in this space. Should I quit? Or keep going? Any advice is greatly appreciated as I just feel so entirely frustrate right now. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone want to work out together and keep each other Accountable? Posted: 27 Jul 2021 01:29 AM PDT Hey guys! I was just thinking how hard its been to stay consistent with a workout routine especially after the last couple of years. So I thought why not start partnering people who have the same fitness goals like doing ashtanga yoga every day, or just staying fit. I've been matching people for three weeks now. The goal will be to be to keep each other motivated and accountable by logging your workouts on the chat immediately you do it and nudging your partner to do the same. If you want to partnered up, you can send me a PM or just leave a comment if your interested and I'll find you a fitness buddy. [link] [comments] |
