Is it bad to stretch right after a heavy workout?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 03:22 AM PDT

After I workout I always stretch but when I'm done my legs feel funny and they hurt a bit when I walk. Although the pain quickly goes away I still wonder if it's bad.

Sharp knee pain and pop after sitting cross legged.

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:31 PM PDT

idk if this is the right place but this was the only subreddit that came up when I tried to google it lol. Needless to say I couldn't find what I'm looking for exactly.

This isn't a chronic pain or issue, it happens very rarely. Sometimes when I sit cross legged, mainly in a bed, all of a sudden there's a sharp pain and I have to extend my leg. It feels as if I don't something will pop. And when it does extend something shifts and makes an audible noise. It's definitely cause I somehow extended or contracted something too far. I think i bent over before pain? idk cause it's so sudden I don't remember the movement that preceded the pain. I don't think this is an issue or anything I just want to know what's actually happening. What bones and ligaments/tendons are moving and being affected in that position that were at risk? idk if this makes the difference or if it's happened to both. But at least this time it was the leg on top.

This isn't even a flexibility question and more of a pure anatomy one lol. Other adjacent subreddits seemed less active though.

    Does running impede ankle dorsiflexion?

    Posted: 20 Jul 2021 12:18 AM PDT

    Specifically daily running?

I have really tight calves and have issues with ankle dorsiflexion. I am doing a stretching routine to improve this and after only a week, I'm seeing big gains.

I'm trying to improve my ankle dorsiflexion so I can stand up by rocking back onto my feet (right now all the weight goes to my toes and it's no bueno).

I would like to be able to run at least every other day. Would I be impeding progress made with my ankle flexibility?

    Obesity and flexibility

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 02:53 PM PDT

So I've been losing weight and stretching 5 days a week since February. I notice that the very flexible people on here are usually pretty thin. Is there a correlation? I can't tell with myself because, although I've lost 40 pounds, I've also been stretching a lot which SHOULD increase my flexibility on it's own. I'm still not "thin" though.

    Towel hamstring stretches help

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:05 PM PDT

I went to physical therapy and they had me doing towel hamstring stretches. I must have misheard the instructor and I did 10 reps on each leg instead of the 3 reps that my exercise sheet recommends. I don't feel too bad but I was wondering if I could've done any damage by doing too many stretches.

How often should I do the starter stretch? And is it necessary for me to advance from it?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:38 AM PDT

I'm starting to try and improve my flexibility along side weightlifting so I don't just because a huge rock that can't move. How often should I do the starter stretching routine (this and do I need to graduate onto another eventually? I'm not planning on being extremely flexible but I need to be more flexible to do some exercises on my routine.

    Interlocking fingers behind back slippery

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 06:26 AM PDT

I'm not sure what to call it, but a move incorporated in a lot of warm-ups/stretching is where you stand up straight, interlock your fingers behind your back, bend forward (chest to knees) and raise your arms up towards the ceiling. That's not really an issue for me mobility-wise, but my fingers are so slippery, I can't keep them interlocked! I don't really see anyone else ever having problems with this.

I can keep them together for a bit, but eventually I just have to iron-grip my fingers to keep them from sliding apart (and after a while it's pretty much impossible). Is this simply a shoulder flexibility thing, or is it just that other people don't get as sweaty fingers as I do?

    PSO-RITE

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:25 AM PDT

I was wondering what your opinions are on the PSO-RITE. I pretty much have the mobility of a brick. I used to lift and run with basic half assed BS stretching. Now, in my 30s, and trying to get back into shape. Not stretching isn't an option. I try to stretch and foam roll daily(TRY). I usually lay face down on a yoga block, on my atomic. That seems to help with my lower back. If it's a good product, I'd like to get a PSO-RITE.
