[COMP] Headstand flow in my backyard

[COMP] first successful tuck away from the wall.

[COMP] chattarunga to pinchu mayarasana. I've been requested to do a tutorial for this transition. Anyone else interested? It's definitely not something that flows that well and in my imo some strengthening work would be helpful to avoid unnecessary injury.

[COMP] hello all! After three years of practice, I’ve finally gotten into crow. I’ve never been to a live class so this feels like a big step for me. (I’m not looking for critique or pointers - I’ll get to the “perfect” posture when I get there. ☺️)

    Yoga practice in Hollywood

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 04:38 PM PDT

Hi does anyone know of any small in person or video groups in the LA area. Beginner or intermediate groups preferably. I've been watching youtube video to guide my practice but would like to meet up with people for free if you guys are down. I would love to meet some new yoga buddies 👍🏼🦋

    Sore Lats?!

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 02:40 PM PDT

Hey everyone, rotating currently between heavy leg practices and heavy upper body vinyasa classes. Yesterday I did a 60 min strong flow with maybe about 50 total down dogs to chatarangas. My lats are on fire today! :)

I didn't know down dog worked lats so much? Or is it just me

    Practicing yoga for 1 hour, 1x a week vs 20 minutes, 3x a week?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 09:48 AM PDT

I recently switched my practice from doing an hour session, once a week to doing 20 minute sessions 3x a week. I was wondering if there's any benefit in spacing the practices out like I've been doing, or if it all ends up being equivalent? Just curiosity, thanks!

    Virtual practice partner(s)

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 09:35 AM PDT

Hey yogis! I have been going to an iyengar yoga class consistently for the past year. However I have never been able to establish a daily home routine.

To overcome this, I was thinking about finding virtual practice partner(s) with whom I can do a 30min yoga around 7:30am central time. Needless to say, I am not looking for an instructor, I just need the sense of accountability and the joy of sharing my practice time with another yogi.

If this interests you, please send me a message.

    Namaste 🙏

Holding to a standard of grace

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 10:03 PM PDT

With yoga I learn all is grace, not perfection & grace is all that matters . I don't need to be perfect in my posture or in the way I deal with evryday life but I'm at grace as I'm at my best possible effort , and that's good enough. So yoga is embracing your best self, your best effort … it kills anxiety as you're no more focused on perfection, or competition , or end goal .. you can relax & be graceful as you're jus focused on your own way of doing things in the the most possible perfect manner. & that's all that matters. So much of burden has gone off me in everyday day just as I embraced yoga & embraced grace !

    Shoulder bursitis

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 07:47 AM PDT

Hi. I have a daily practice and have been doing more intense sessions lately. Now I've got bursitis in my left shoulder, so I'm telling myself no down dogs or planks and the like for a week. 2 questions: can you do sweaty yoga without those types of poses and does anyone have experience with shoulder bursitis? Thanks!

How do you train your hands for yoga?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 05:36 AM PDT

I'm generally fit and healthy (F27) with an on and off asana practice, but my hands are hyperflexible and apparently too weak for yoga. They have been hurting ever since I tried to set up a daily practice in February. I didn't do anything extreme - just some chatturangas, but somehow my thumb joint got injured and never fully healed because it's hard to rest your hands. Now an MRI shows widespread inflammation and I'm in constant pain when washing my hands, getting dressed etc.. my doctor prescribed ice and hand physiotherapy and we're all trying to figure out a way I can gently strengthen my hands for push ups.

While I can't wait to get back on the mat for the rest of my body, I thought I could gently train my hands in the mean time.

Does anyone have advice on strengthening your hands for yoga?

And yes, I always focused on distributing the weight through my fingers.

    Thank you!

I made my first ever solo practice. It was hard.
