Thoughts on Mysore Krishnamacharr Yoga Foundation? Posted: 29 Apr 2020 05:03 AM PDT Dear Fellow Ashtanga Yogis, I have narrowed down my options to study/practice yoga at Mysore Krishnamacharya Yoga Foundation. Was wondering if any of you had practised there before? If so, would you recommend the school to aspiring ashtangis seeking to deepen their practice? I started Ashtanga in August 2018, and currently at half-primary. Tips/Advice are greatly appreciated! :D [link] [comments] |
Jump-Back and Jump-Through Pre-requisites Posted: 28 Apr 2020 10:42 AM PDT I thought some of you might like this. I spent about 20 minutes transcribing this from Kino's video on Jump back and Jump through: "How do you know you're ready to try the full movement? The body will almost naturally tell you that it feels like it really wants to do the lift up. So, I usually say that there are a couple of tests that you want to do to make sure that your body is ready to jump back and jump through. You need 3 lift ups:
Check in, if your strength isn't there yet, keep working on the strength. If you got all three, your body may be ready to do the complete movement of jumping through and jumping back. Which you can do with crossed legs or straight legs on the way through, depending on your flexibility and what feels more natural for your body. ========. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2020 05:23 PM PDT I might be overthinking this. But my mat is very old and I'm planing to buy a jade mat. My country's distributor only has an XL mat (74") and I'm 64". Are there any disadvantages in buying it? I fear it might take a lot of space in the yoga studio. [link] [comments] |
Helpful Stretches/Asanas for those In-between Moments Posted: 28 Apr 2020 03:25 AM PDT Hi All, I was watching a tutorial on sirsasana, and one of the items (among others) recommended for beginners was hamstring lengthening, to eventually get the trunk into a more vertical position before kicking-up or raising legs (hope that makes sense). For the hamstrings it was recommended that uttanasana be done once or twice a day for 2-3 minutes, where gravity is allowed to ease the trunk down gently over time. I wanted to ask if anyone could recommend any other key stretches or asanas particularly useful to Primary series which could be done similarly during those free moments throughout the day (while working from home). Thanks in advance... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2020 07:43 AM PDT Pulled my IT band muscle during upavista konasana. Now utthita hasta padangusthasana (which i was already bad at) seems impossible along with other asanas. HELP [link] [comments] |
A pain in my right knee has started to develop with the Adha-badhas (half lock) asanas Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:30 AM PDT Has anybody experienced this? What can i do to cure it. I was thinking foam rolling? [link] [comments] |
