Meditation: I set myself a challenge of doing 20 minutes of meditation a day for 30 days. I decided to extend the streak and today will be exactly my 500th day of meditation! I’m so glad that I’ve come this far. It has been totally worth every minute of it and I have no plans to ever stop meditating every day!

You want to get out of your mind?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:53 AM PDT

Then get into your body! If you make your body an enjoyable place, your conciousness will prefer staying there. Dont just sit down and wait for things to calm down. Get up and do something that feels good: walk, dance, workout, stretch. -"There is more wisdom in out body than in the deepest philophies."-Friedrich Nietzsche

You have heard it said "if you think you're enlightened go spend some time with your parents"

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 05:00 PM PDT

I think this is to show that in such a situation there is a misunderstanding of what enlightenment is.

The quote should be "if you think you are immune to stress and have mastered your emotions go spend a week with your parents."

But enlightenment does not have to mean the loss of human emotions, or even having control over your emotions.

It is better to be a living buddha than a stone buddha.

Losing focus on breath but still counting?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:58 AM PDT

Does anyone else over-count when they get lost in thought? I will lose focus of my breath but continue counting each one automatically, so if I'm supposed to be counting to 10 breaths and then resetting to 0, I'll find myself at 12 or even sometimes as high at 17 before I notice I've lost focus on the breath and have drifted off into unrelated thoughts. I don't see this talked about anywhere though - does it happen to you? How am I able to keep focus on counting each breath while simultaneously losing focus?

Also on Headspace, you get a 'free thinking' period at the end where you're allowed to let your mind think if you want, and I find this is the quietest part of the meditation usually as my mind is still. Is this the point - reverse psychology? Or am I just weird?

I started writing before meditating and it has helped me a lot

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 11:16 AM PDT

Meditation was the first thing I was doing after I woke up, but lately my mind was too active at that moment so I have been recommended to write before meditation, and actually it helps my mind to be more clearly. It also helps me to realize how I'm talking to myself that is actually pretty hard and negative. This writing is called Morning Pages and is a technique that Julia Cameron recommends in her book The Artists Way. If any of you have troubles with the monkey mind during meditation, I do recommend writing before. It works for me, and I hope it works for you too.

1 hour meditation 2x a day for a week update

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 07:36 PM PDT

The peace of mind I have achieved and mindfulness I have gained from doing these meditations is where I see the most improvement. Consistency is KEY! When I first began these meditations I didn't per say have any particular goal in mind nor do I still. However, what I have learned most during these meditations about myself is that by letting go of your ego and fears— then you will find the ability for the most self improvement. Fear and insecurities have controlled your life for too long. Let go of all those fears and accept them and dig deep. Your mind is fucking powerful and it has the ability to do things beyond your wildest dreams and imagination. However don't lose sight at what is right in front of you and don't forget to follow your heart. Your mind and heart sometimes can cause conflicting battles within. Make sure you can differentiate between the two. Once you can do that with confidence I believe you will reach enlightenment. However being humans, we are sure to make mistakes. I'm not sure if it is possible to always make the right decision, but rather to do what you truly believe is right and let your higher power guide you and have faith in your beliefs.

The 4-7-8 breathing technique involves breathing in for 4 seconds, holding the breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds. This can help calm any anxiety that you may be experiencing and can also help you to sleep. :)

For those that do Wim Hof method, 2 question:

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 07:38 PM PDT

Is it possible to prolong time effect? I never did more than 3 rounds, about 11 minutes. I really wanted to prolong it.

Also, what happens in my body in the long term of WHM practice?

I've been doing it for a week now.

    Thanks in advance.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 01:18 AM PDT

I focused on my breath but I felt like pressure on my synapses like fire went there. Did it for 30 minutes straight Wtf happened next? After that session I couldnt focus on anything, was restless, couldnt express myself, felt my IQ decreasing with 30 points.

Is my brain already damaged or what, im I imagining things?

Im already low iq (110-115 VIQ, 64 PIQ)so idfk what I experienced. Can a high iq member explained what couldve happened, what I experience? Is it like energy coming out out your inner self?

Or wtf is it legit anxiety, stress?

    Getting startled

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:02 AM PDT

I've been practicing mindfulness meditation on and off for about 4 years, and around a month ago I started meditating daily, after messing around with psychedelics a bit too much for my taste. I've been slowly going deeper, however, for the past few days I have gone much deeper than ever before, immersing myself in the moment completely, but soon after I reach this state I get a mental image flash before my eyes, experience strange sensations all over my body and feel like I'm dying and I get really overwhelmed by all of this hitting me suddenly and I just jump up and stop for the day. Usually happens somewhere around 40-50 minutes in. It's slowly making me afraid of meditation out of fear of experiencing this again. Any advice on how to overcome this?

I have logical questions, I need logical answers

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 12:03 PM PDT

    1. Position - why do I have to sit? Isn't meditation all about breathing, clearning mind and not-thinking?(not only this of course) Logically - I should be in the positon I feel most comfortable at. So why sitting is so important?

    2. Most people recommend to meditate right after waking up or generally - in the morning, explaining, that it will help us later on that day to focus etc., but logically meditation is also for improving control over our mind/thoughts - so isn't it better if I meditate exactly after whole day passed? Won't I have a lot more results from trying to sort out messy mind rather then mind who's barely awake so it's already peaceful by itself?

    3. This question is a bit different then the first two. It's more of a problem then a question. So generally - I fall asleep during meditation. I have physical job + I really don't like the people there, they're very negative and rude. So it's quite straining both mentally and physically, that's why I'm always tired (except my days off). I meditate right after work - and I'm the most awake at that time. So - what would you recommend to stay awake and focused? It's a logical issue for me as well, because one of the points of meditation is feeling relaxed, but if I'll feel that way - I'll start falling asleep!

Note: Please don't give me answers like "You can meditate anytime you want or you can choose any position you want", because if it was true, everybody would just lay in their beds and be meditating 5 min before they go to sleep - but no one's doin that, right?

    Weekly Virtual Meditation

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 04:39 PM PDT

A few of us have started a one-hour virtual weekly silent meditation sit. There is no guidance during the one hour but we discuss techniques beforehand and close with a group discussion afterwards. No agendas and no cost - just a group of us keeping each other motivated. The technique most of us use is bringing our awareness to our breathing. We sit every Sunday evening at 9:00pm Pacific Standard Time US. Let me know if anyone is interested in participating. Have any of you dedicated substantial effort to meditating but experienced no benefit?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 10:30 PM PDT

I would be curious to hear your stories, if you exist. It's clear there is an overwhelmingly positive consensus with respect to the impact of meditating, at least from those who share. Though all perspectives lend value in the endless search for the truth!

My 3rd eye was getting “Shocked”...? My forehead was touching my GF’s and she’s suffered mental illness and said shes had a past with demons plaguing her.... and her mom used to talk to demons...Anyone who’s ever felt the “shock” i’m referring to, please read below and share your experience -

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 10:19 PM PDT

My 3rd eye was suffering "Shocks"...? When my forehead was touching my girl's forehead who claims to have heard/seen demons in her past (heavy sexual abuse within family)... has anyone experienced this?

It felt almost like an attack on my 3rd eye, thats the only way i can describe it.

So I do not AP, but I transcendentally Meditate, which allows me to ascend to the astral plane (where you go when you do DMT) on a much smaller, more manageable and understandable level. I've seen everything from aliens looking back at me to millions of eyes staring from everywhere to the fabric of my reality ripping itself - all stone-cold sober, due to nothing but me meditating to an audio track dedicated to stimulating the 3rd eye/crown chakra...

Now I consider myself a pretty experienced and skilled navigator of this plane in that I can almost "turn on" my 3rd eye at will... I can almost flex it like a muscle (its similar to how it feels when you flex the muscle that wiggles your ears, for those of you that know what I mean) and I'll start feeling it gear up...

Anyway, my GF was literally just diagnosed with schizo affective disorder. She tells me that she used to hear her mom talking to things in her house and she would ask her "what did you say?" And her mom would just be like "nevermind" as a kid... now that she's an adult, her mom has admitted that she used to talk to demons, as her mother is also schizo/bi-polar...

My GF snapped totally and completely only once - and that was before i met her, about a year and a half ago. She said that she could feel a demon throw its robe over it's shoulder and sit next to her. She said that sometimes she hears voices and doesn't know whether it's god talking to her, or the demons posing as god... All this to say? She's obviously got some dark stuff that runs generationally deep thru her family... without giving too much of her info out, her father was all but a devil of a man, and if demons were to prey on anyone? She would be a prime target for them...

They say the mystic and the schizophrenic reside in the same waters...

A mystic (someone who uses their connection to higher realms/their higher self as a tool for self-exploration and spiritual growth) has spent time and energy developing a way of USING their gift, to swim gracefully and poised through those waters...

The schizophrenic? Flails in that same water the mystic swims in... Always being told their gift was a curse, and never having tried to hone their gift - or maybe their gift was just too much for them to handle.. Anyway.

We passed out with our foreheads touching each other's (commonly referred to as a "3rd eye kiss") and as I was drifting off to sleep, I found myself going into a slightly meditative state by habit ...

Out of nowhere I felt a "SHOCK" to my spiritual self... it happened again.... it HURT... It felt like something was trying to fuck up my shit...

The more it dawned on me that an entity could very well be attacking me? The more I started trying to picture a shield of white/Holy light around both me and my GF to protect us? The more I would suffer these "Shocks"... it was like I was being forced out of my own body by something - painfully, I might add. Terrible terrible sensation. And the more i fought it and tried to protect us? I noticed my girl would twitch in her sleep more.. Which is nOt something she does... Idk, call me crazy if you want, but i REALLLY would like to know if anyone else has any experience with this "Shock" sensation to their third eye? And if so, what caused it? This was concerning as fuck for me.
