Which 30-day challenge from “Yoga with Adriene” should I start with?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 12:17 PM PDT

I have about 3 months' yoga experience with CorePower classes (C1 and C2). Since it's the first of the month and I'm self isolating I'd like to start one of her 30-day series, but not sure which one. I am still very much a beginner.

    Any advice?

    Tripod Headstand

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 11:07 AM PDT

Just wanted to share an accomplishment with people that would get the satisfaction. One of my goals with my yoga practice is to do inversion yoga. Today was the first time I've had a controlled and stable tripod headstand. I am so excited to hit a milestone like that even if it's small.

Something to get off my chest

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 03:28 PM PDT

Hello all. I just wanted to tell someone, anyone, that I am getting to take a college yoga class this term because someone is anonymously paying for someone's (my) tuition. I have been auditing this iyengar yoga class for the better part of the past 5 years. My yoga teacher has seen me go through some real challenges in my life. I have left the practice numerous times only to come back and try again. I have gotten deep into my yoga practice and felt the peace and alignment and connection that I continually seek. With all the things going on in the world and in my personal life I feel like this is a sign. I want to do this. I feel humbled that my teacher thought of me for this tuition grace and I feel humbled that she has watched me again and again come back to the practice. Falling and rising again and again. I'm ready to feel connected to everyone and his earth, as well as myself. Namaste.

My little success: I did some sun salutations after a long stint of not practicing yoga

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 07:59 PM PDT

I've been meaning to get back into yoga for a long time now. My yoga practice petered out as I went through university (blame school for all of my problems!) It's been almost 5 years since I've done yoga in any kind of capacity, that's why this is such a big thing for me right now.

Yesterday and this morning, all I did was some sun salutations for 10ish minutes. Before, I have told myself that I should do a whole set, but finding a yoga video to follow or planning my own set was too much. So I just did sun salutations - and I feel great! My body is pretty stiff, so I'm feeling the stretch now. But they made me feel good, my shoulders stopped clunking, my breath got smooth, and I was almost able to touch my toes again, but not going to push it! I think I've kind of forgotten how good I felt in my body when I did yoga.

I don't expect many comments, and I'm just posting mainly for myself to acknowledge my little success. If anyone has any cool stories about how you got back into yoga/how you started I would love to hear! All you guys are really impressive and inspiring on this sub! With everything that's been going on, I'm hoping to keep going and add more moves to my sun salutations.

    Uneven shoulders

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 03:23 PM PDT

I have recently noticed that my shoulders are uneven. My right one is about 5cm lower than the left. I don't know which is 'correct', but the right's where the pain is, and it hurts to turn my head right too. I've had neck pain since last June, which intensified a lot in the last few days, so I really shouldn't be surprised something like this happened.

Does anyone know any specific yoga moves to try and even them out again? I obviously can't see a physiotherapist right now.

    Yoga Strap Help!

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 03:35 PM PDT

Hi everyone! I want to purchase a yoga strap but I'm new to yoga and am not sure which length I should get. For reference I'm 5'2 (157.5m) and not very flexible yet. I have my eyes on some hugger mugger ones but don't know whether to get 6', 8', or 10'!

    Day 8 of #30DayDBTCChallenge

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 06:06 AM PDT

    Shoutout:

Congrats to challenge members u/ChloeMarie159, u/claptrapglitter + husband, u/engineer_ellena, u/GarbagePailKid90, u/Caliyogagrl, u/ShadowSylph for completing the first week of the challenge, u/electric_real, u/MsMimosa420 for completing 6 days, u/jeffbloke for completing 5 days, and u/EmsPalala for completing 2 days.

    Question for everyone:

I have been doing daily shoutouts in an attempt to keep us motivated, which I hope has been helpful. Going forward, would you prefer

    1. keeping to daily shoutouts,
    2. reducing it to a weekly shoutout, i.e. have a total tally at the end of each week of the challenge and do a shoutout then (e.g. u/methanecow completed 14 days of the challenge)
    3. No more shoutouts

Also, if you any suggestions on what you would like added or changed in the daily posts, feel free to let me know.

    Carpal Tunnel

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 03:58 AM PDT

I had carpal tunnel surgery 14 months ago and still finding poses such as plank, downward dog or anything weight bearing aggravates my wrist and inner palm. What poses would you recommend I do to help with healing and restrengthening this part of my body for my practice?

    Tia! :)
