I got this note in the mail today from one of my favorite instructors. I haven't been practicing as much, but this detail reminded me of this awesome community. Thank you!!

    Help with camel pose

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 08:12 PM PDT

Hi there, I'm newer to yoga and struggling with camel pose. Every time I do it, my heart starts racing faster than is comfortable and my vision goes black, almost like the sensation when you stand up too fast. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to alter camel pose or a substitute I could do to avoid this? Thanks in advance!

Help! Coping techniques for constant distractions during my practice?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 12:40 PM PDT

Hi. I just recently had a baby and she is almost 2 months old. Since I've had her, I have struggled to find time to do yoga without distraction or interruption.

It seems like she has a "sixth sense" that her moms doing yoga because she will be perfectly content before I do it, and then two minutes into my practice, she starts crying. When my husband is home, I try to put aside 30-60 min of my time just for my practice. I can't catch a break however- either he's loud or she's crying. Because of this, I've had a hard tome being present in my practice.

It's clear that I have to find a way to remain calm during these interruptions and not let myself get worked up. What are some things you recommend?

Yoga to loosen up sore muscles and joints.

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 01:50 PM PDT

I have a job where I am on my feet for 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week. When I get home from my shift my shoulders, neck and knees are often in so much pain I don't do much but lay down for the rest of the day. Are there any YouTube videos or specific poses anyone can recommend to help loosen me up? I don't want to rely on ibuprofen to make me a functioning human after work, thanks!

Tall, tight hamstrings & new to yoga - looking for pointers on a few poses

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:44 PM PDT

    Hi all,

Just another person trying Yoga w/ Adrienne during the quarantine. I'm a **6'2 male** on the skinny side, and I just want to check for some tips/guidance on some poses. I don't understand much about flexibility, but from doing some searching online I would say I have some **typical signs of tight hamstrings & lower back** \- makes sense as I spend a lot of time seated for school & work and have never had great posture.

Accordingly, I feel like I need to bend my knees on something like half the poses, and I can't always find good guidance online for how to make these modifications / what I should be focusing on. I know, ideally I would be working this out with a teacher in a class, and I've been enjoying the experience enough I definitely want to go to some in-person classes when that's an option again.

I'm going to throw out some of the questions that have been popping up for me - any specific answers, or general tips for practicing with similar body shapes / experiences appreciated!

    1. Downward dog - Based on [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFCIT1Y7HmI) and other info I've found, I've been focusing on keeping my back straight. This calls for me to apply a moderate bend in the knees. What am I supposed to be feeling here? I would say I feel most of a stretch in my rear legs, and some in the top of my shoulders (which I'm trying to draw away from my head). Anything I should be looking for? How should I work on progressing with this pose?

    1. Three Legged Dog (or whatever moves involve lifting a leg from Downward Dog) - Is my back still supposed to be straight here? I often find my head or lower back start moving when I try to do this - any tips on what to focus on, or adjustments for the pose w/ a bent knee?

    1. Adrienne appears to be a big fan of doing a sort of cycle of forward fold, flat back and fully raised full body stretch. (For one of many examples, she does it [around the 13 minute mark here](https://youtu.be/TB2ISQZ5Mb0?t=787) ).
      1. In forward fold, I bend my knees slightly and sort of, well, fold forward - my head falls around/just below my knees, my back is bent, and I feel a lot of stretch/work in my back thighs.
      2. Flatback position is where I'm having the most uncertainty. My body is simply not going to make a 90-degree L shape. My two options are to (a) keep my knees bent and make my back straight - which kind of looks like a <, with my head and torso angled upwards or (b) straighten my legs and try to straighten my back. I'm guessing (a) is closer to being right, since i'm keeping my spine straight and it's called "flatback" position - but it's not flat in the sense of being parallel to the floor

    1. Last but not least, I have a huge issue with any seated folds. This is true in sitting with my legs straight, spread, or there's one I've seen in sort of squat (example [here](https://youtu.be/q17VxeBtKeY?t=1289)). Hell I can't even sit up with my back and legs both straight at the same time. Is bending my knees just the name of the game here?

tl;dr trying to figure out adjustments for certain poses and generally for a tallish body with what I assume are tight hamstrings. All advice, specific or general, appreciated. I know this sort of question gets asked a lot, I did read a lot of old posts so I hope this isn't too duplicative!

    Jade mat

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 05:06 PM PDT

Okay, how do you clean your mat? The open cell absorbing moisture and making it prone to bacteria makes me not want to get the mat but I'm curious as of how do you guys keep it clean?

    Online Yoga Training?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 09:27 AM PDT

I've been considering signing up for an online yoga teacher training. The one that i have linked here seems to be the most extensive one, but I was hoping to get some opinions before signing up for something that could be a waste of time.

Does this seem like a good program? Would it be a better idea to wait until the quarantine is over and do an in person training?

    thanks!
