Led Primary Series with full Modifications (video)

    Hi All,

This video was made recently of the full Primary series using modifications all the way through. It's an excellent resource for beginners, moon-day girls or those who are tired/injured. (Instructions are given as if you are mirroring the teacher.) The center are slowly putting stuff on to their YouTube channel so if you wanted this on YouTube leave them a comment and they may be able to help.

They also have lots of other really good led classes, incl. more full Primary and also one led Intermediate (scroll down to Live Streamed Classes)

    All the best.

Weekly Plan Jump thru-back Prep Exercises

    Posted: 01 May 2020 06:32 PM PDT

    Hi there,

There have been a few posts on what jump through jump back preparatory exercises are useful [eg, L-sits, lolasana, utpluthih (tolasana)]. I would like to practice these routinely and just wanted to ask what a useful daily routine would be (eg, how many reps per session for beginners, are rest days needed, how to build up over time).

The other thing I wanted to ask is how long do these postures realistically need to be held for to receive the benefit for jump-thru/back? The jump-thru/back vinyasas only last for a second or two, so would it be OK to do reps (eg, 2 breaths) of the above prep. postures rather than try to hold them for a long time???

    Many thanks.

Ashtanga teachers/studio recommendations in Chicago's North Side?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 07:45 PM PDT

    Hello Everyone

Like a fair few people I've found myself adapting my fitness routine in these suspended times to ashtanga. In the few weeks I've learnt I have not much core strength and pretty weak shoulders too, and yet, I am hooked. I've been following along videos by Kino (the basics), Adrienne and Five Points. Once this phase is behind us, I would love to enrol in a class. My limitation is location. So if there are any Chicaho ashtanngis here, do you have any yoga studio recommendations in the North Side? Or specific teachers? Much obliged.

    Plow and Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana

    Posted: 01 May 2020 01:12 PM PDT

A couple of questions. 1. I have never liked plow pose, it doesn't feel good for me and gives me serious discomfort in my neck. Shoulder stand has the same effect to an extent. Should I be making adjustments and pushing through or risk not being a "proper yogi" and skipping it? 2. Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana. (Standing, leg in lotus and forward bending) It feels good for me and whilst i don't have my bind i feel comfortable except for my standing knee which hyper extends, do i need to correct this and bring a slight bend in or is it ok?
