| Weekly Practice Discussion - July 19, 2020 Posted: 19 Jul 2020 06:09 AM PDT Welcome to the weekly practice thread. This thread is dedicated to discussion of how our practice is going, where we would like it to go, and where it has been. Have a great week. Mod Team [link] [comments] |
| Why are the Yamas and Niyamas a necessity? Posted: 19 Jul 2020 08:47 PM PDT Why must these stages be mastered in order to go into samadhi? Why can't someone just get good at meditation in order to attain samadhi? [link] [comments] |
| Asana groups in Primary Series - order of priority if skipping when tired Posted: 19 Jul 2020 10:09 PM PDT Hi, sorry I know people have mentioned this in passing in several posts already. If I need to reduce my practice in mysore because I am too sore/fatigued, what groups of asanas can I miss out? (1=must keep, 6 = drop first)
I am already missing out the linking-vinyasas (just doing a 2-count tolasana with legs-crossed as a modification), however, I was also thinking I could cut down on some of the repetitive asanas like: Prasarita Padottanasana, Janu Sirsasana, Marichyasana, Baddha Konasana?? Any advice welcome. Many thanks. [link] [comments] |

| Need help getting back into Ashtanga practice!! Posted: 19 Jul 2020 02:49 AM PDT Hi all! Ive been doing yoga for over two years now, but honestly just practiced leisurely the first year and then i got into a bit more disciplined practice late last year. Since the corona lockdown i had more time to practice Ashtanga (been doing Laruga & Fightmaster series) and was making some progress. The latest one being able to hold crow pose! Which i was very proud of. Im 43kg, 164 cm and anemic. Last month I've been struggling because my iron has dropped dangerously low and ive been taking medications for it. Now, im too weak to practice and when i tried doing a primary series of Ashtanga, i found myself skipping vinyasas because i get so dizzy and i feel so weak. I can't do headstands, can't even balance properly on one legged standing poses. I'm getting so frustrated because these are things i was already able to do well before. I feel like i have to work from scratch again and that the hard work i did before was wasted. Any tips on how i can build up my strength and get back to comfortably practicing Ashtanga again? I'd appreciate if you can link me to some routines I can follow. I really miss being able to do yoga without feeling like shit. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
