    Lying leg hold vs splits

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 02:10 AM PDT

I'm only a couple cm above the ground for my right and left splits but my lying leg hold (lying on the ground and pulling one leg towards my chest/head) barely go past 90 degrees. Any tips on stretches I can do to improve?

    Hamstring flexibility study

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 02:01 PM PDT

Greetings reddit! My girlfriend is conducting a study on incresing hamstring flexibility comparing different methods, but struggling to find participants. The daily exercise only takes about 10 min and has to be done 7 days in a row. If you are interested in working on your hamstring flexibility while contributing to a medical study, send me a message, it would mean a lot to her (and me 😊). Thank you! After completion of the study we will let you know which intervention is most effective in increasing hamstring flexibility.

    Soccer/Football Player Partner Stretches

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 06:21 PM PDT

    Hi everyone.

Looking for advice. I am helping my friend train in soccer during this time off and I'm looking to help him stretch like he would get at training. Is there any routine I should be looking to follow before (and after if advised) a hard session to prevent injury and make sure he is ready to go?

    Thanks for any tips

    Splits with hip dysplasia

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 06:12 PM PDT

I was born with hip dysplasia, and although I was treated for it as a baby my hips have always been extremely inflexible and they still pop when I lift my knee above 90°. Even though I did gymnastics for 5 years age 10 to present day my split is still miles off the ground, no closer than five years ago. I am flexible in other muscles, for example I can get my palms flat on the floor in standing pike and can get my chest on my legs in sitting pike, however when it comes to straddle stretches my legs are not very far apart at all and my stomach is nowhere near the floor for pancake stretch. It's very demotivating and I'm wondering if I should just give up as maybe my hip dysplasia means I will never be able to do splits? Just wondering if anyone has any advice :)

Where to start/how long should i stretch per day

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 10:47 AM PDT

I am a guy and i really inflexible, to the point that its funny. I also have a really tight right hip and a left leg thats longer than the right one which makes things like sitting crisscross super hard for me, while being able to touch my toes on my right foot but not on my left. Can someone give me some pointers and how to start this on my own? And maybe a stretch thatll help with a tight right hip?

Unable to stretch chest with hands clasped behind back

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 11:30 AM PDT

I've had this issue for many years where I am unable to stretch my chest with my hands clasped behind my back and lift. I can clasp my hands behind my back and straighten my arms but I feel a lot of tightness and pressure between my lats and triceps. Because of that, I can't really engage any muscles to lift my hands upward behind my back while clasped. I have tried stretching as well as foam rolling my lats and triceps without improvement. Any other ideas or recommendations for exercises? I'd like to improve my mobility. Thanks a lot!

Ps this my first post in reddit ever☝🏼

I can't straighten my elbows, please help me

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 06:04 AM PDT

Since I started paying attention to my elbows (since I started training handstands about a year and a half ago) I couldn't straighten my elbows, and not even by the same amount. When I went to an orthopedic doctor he pretty much laughed at me and told me there is no problem with not being able to straighten my elbows. Is there a way I can diagnose the issue and work on it? I am 16 by the way, if that means I can do something adults can't. Also, most of my relatives have at least a bit of elbow hyperextension if that says anything about the likelihood of it being genetic. Thanks ahead!
