    Frog Toggs for Hot Yoga

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 08:25 PM PDT

I was just curious if anyone used Frogg Toggs during Hot Yoga before (as like a mat towel)? I was just curious if anyone did and how their experience went?

    Full-fingered yoga gloves?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 12:01 PM PDT

My studio has reopened and requires students to wear masks and gloves while practicing. I have a pair of YogiPaws but they're fingerless. Does anyone have experiencing practicing in full gloves, and can you recommend a pair?

Can shortening a flow or workout time mess up routine.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 02:05 PM PDT

So yesterday I went to the beach and did only about 20 mins of yoga combining both my flows I do daily. Granted I was a bit liberal about my diet yesterday. Normally I do about an hour and 7 minutes worth of flows. So I'm just worried my body is gonna be weird today before my normal routine. Granted walking in the sand and trying to do warrior poses in the water was kinda of a workout in itself. What do you guys think? I don't want to effect my toning process.

Looking for lightweight yoga wear recommendations

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:08 AM PDT

Teeki brand leggings were my favorite. Thin lightweight and comfortable but since they are out of business I'd love to find a similar brand.

Wanting to train as a Yoga Therapist.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 11:53 AM PDT

    I'm after a bit of advice/guidance/personal Experience.

I have practiced yoga on/off (mostly off) for the last 8 years or so. Since lockdown I have completely fallen in love thanks to the most amazing teacher. My quality of life feels so much better and my pain has been reduced quite significantly I am also enjoying learning the philosophy side.

A bit of a back story, up until 23 (28 now) I was super active, doing & teaching martial arts 3+ times a week, breezing through 10k s really active. Then my health declined due to glandular fever and subsequently post viral fatigue, throw in Endo for good measure and my activity level became 0. I would build back up to maybe 20 mins 1-2 times a week then have a flare up and be back to 0 for weeks on end. I felt lots of classes were to strenuous and was led to believe because I could not do all the complicated poses I should not bother.

I have reached a point where I am managing my conditions with in reason thanks to this teacher who offers yoga therapy.

It made me realise it's what I want to do with my life, I'm currently self employed (run a flexible business that I have no real passion for it's a good income with very good hours so happy to keep it going) so income would not be a worry if I only ended up with a few classes a week and to be perfectly honest I would just like to help people and even if I was not earning that would not be an issue. I would want to offer it low cost and some karma yoga as I know at my worst money was tight and I saw things like PT as a luxury. I would also want to do virtual classes as getting out the door can be the biggest battle.

I'm thinking of doing my 200h in India as I have fallen in love with the philosophy side as well as the practice. Then having a year to study and gain experience as a teacher (I have taught martial arts previously and been a children's fitness coach teaching movement and healthy living in schools) before applying to a yoga therapy/restorative course. Along side this I have started a Ayurveda course to help supplement my knowledge.

Does this seem like the right thing to do?

EDIT: not saying yoga is a magic cure or that it will cure them just that some gentle movement can be super beneficial for both the mind and body! Just want to help people feel good!

TLDR: I want to help people by teaching yoga, how do I do this?

    Asanas for better hair?!?!?

Went for a whole body stretch this morning, stretched my arms up too suddenly, lost consciousness for a second and fell into this stone corner. Fell like a dummy. Be aware of your surroundings!

How to breath into up dog?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 05:41 AM PDT

Hello Yogis! I was hoping to get some advice for breathing during updog and other poses where you are laying on your stomach/bending backwards. Surprisingly in wheel I can breathe much easier than in updog. What could i be doing wrong?

Yet another Downward Facing Dog question...

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:17 AM PDT

    Well, two actually.

    1) Should my feet be together, or hip-width apart? I naturally tend to do together, but don't know what's best.

    2) I have inflexible ankles, and I know it's ok for my heels to not touch the ground - but to be in downward dog, I end up very much on my tip toes. I'm working on relaxing my feet to the ground, but even if I bend my knees, my feet don't really go that way. Any suggestions?

    Yoga mats

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 01:01 AM PDT

    Hello 👋🏻

I've been practicing yoga for over a year now and I want to buy some good yoga mat. I have one that is slippery when my hands and feet get wet and it's not comfortable and safe.

I did a research and it will be from Manduka since they have sale here in Europe and are with strong quality but I struggle to find information for their Almost Perfect Pro series. What's the deal with them? Does anyone can help me?

Dolphin pose feels like suffocating, strangling

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 01:39 AM PDT

I can do it correctly but whenever i do it i feel like anxiety attack kind of shortness in breath and suffocating like feeling except i dont feel anxious or anything, and dont experience panic attack or else. Whenever i do it i just dont like the feeling about my breath and chest. But after dolphin when i do head stand or just do the next pose to do whatever comes after in the flow i immediately feel the release. What could be the reason behind this, im 99% sure that isnt psychological, but maybe related that i do have slightly big breasts?

    Scrunch leggings source?

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 01:34 AM PDT

Let me just say up front that I'm asking this question on behalf of my girlfriend (she doesn't use reddit). She's into yoga, and we workout together. She's been looking for those scrunch leggings, especially the ones with that honeycomb style/texture/look/whatever. She ordered some a while back from "lift legging" because they were ~20 bucks a pair, and she was disappointed with the crappy quality and ended up throwing half the pairs away, either because they were falling apart, or they were oddly sized (baggy and loose in the wrong places). She really likes the ones that didn't fall apart immediately, and I will admit they make our workouts a little more interesting, at least for me 😂. Is there a name brand that makes these, because she points them out when we're out all the time, and I'm thinking there's only one real quality source for them?

P.S. sorry if this breaks the rules

An Invitation. Perhaps we can help each other...

Is there a program that guides you in the long time?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2020 11:14 PM PDT

Sorry if I can't explain it better, but English is not my native language. Is there any program which guides you over time in the basics, then progressing to handstands and more difficult positions? I want it to get ripped.

Yes, I read the FAQ and yes, I've tried some programs, but Asana Rebel and Yoga International for example have some short differrent programs focused for specific objectives, but what I'm looking for is a progressive "from the basics" to "advanced" movements and positions in the long run, 6 months-1 year and above.

I hope you can help me! Thank you!
