Started quarantine in March unable to touch my toes; I've still got a ways to go to be as flexible as I want to be, but I'm very proud of the progress I've made!

Hip Internal Rotation while lying flat on the ground

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 03:08 AM PDT

Hey guys, I have pain since some months internally rotating my hip while laying flat on the ground or while standing in hip extension. I also have tight rectus femoris. My hip flexors are painful when placed under a stretch as well. I have slight apt. Which routine would you think would benefit me? Thanks already!

Have someone tried the trainings of Karin Dimitrovova? Want some opinions

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 01:40 AM PDT

Hey y'all. I got an Instagram ad about the training courses in flexibility and mobility of Karin Dimitrovova... They look pretty cool and I'm thinking of getting them, but I wanted to see if anyone here have done them before and can share their opinion..

    Thanks?

Strange hips, elbows, and ankles, seeking advice

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 08:21 PM PDT

I've always been active, along with my two older brothers. I'm currently 30 years old. About 7 years ago, I noticed I couldn't do a simple flat footed squat. I assumed it was due to using a western toilet for most of my life, but then realized my other two brothers could do it easily, even though we lived a very similar life. Over the last few years, I can now do a flat footed squat, but not comfortable to sit for more than 2-3 minutes while most Asians can sit for hours like it.

I noticed when I do a flat footed squat, my knee bends slightly where my knee is almost directly over my foot while when an asian does it, their knee goes way out in front of their knee (perhaps better ankle mobility). What is the best way to resolve this issue?

After working on the flat footed squat, I began to notice it is tough for me to Indian sit. I can do it, but basically the sides of my feet get pushed really hard into the ground and it hurts on hard surfaces. If I put a towel or pad underneath or on the bed, I can sit comfortably in the position for 30 min. When I come out, there is a lot of pain in my knees and ankles but goes away within seconds. It's strange as everyone else I know can do it easily, which is strange why I can't.

Lastly, my elbows are partially bent (and have been as long as I can rememeber). I can't fully straighten them. It is a strange thing, and perhaps genetic, but my brothers don't have it. Wondering if it a genetic tendon issue, but not sure.

    My questions are:

    1. Is there a name for when my knee sits above my foot and doesn't bend enough? How can I fix this issue so my knee goes much further in front (more ankle mobility) so I can in the flat footed position for an hour without issue?
    2. How do I resolve the Indian sit issue? I've been sitting in the position as much as possible lately, but interested in other ideas.
    3. For the bent elbow issue, is there a genetic name for this? Is it common? What are the recommendations here?

    Thanks!

Starting from scratch after an injury

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 04:22 PM PDT

I used to be a pretty flexible gymnast but that was decades ago. Now I'm old and have "let myself go" as they say, but a recent leg fracture requiring surgery brought my years of neglect into harsh focus. I'm pretty limited right now but I've just started physical therapy and I'm going to use this as a wake-up call to improve my flexibility all over, as well as (I hope) core strength and endurance. I may not get my scorpion or needle, but I'm determined not to ever have to find a work-around to buckle the straps on my sandals again. Wish me luck!

What is the proper way to do the middle splits if I don’t have them yet?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 10:09 AM PDT

I'm regaining my lost flexibility and this time, I'm going to work on the middle splits as well. I've been stretching a lot and at the end, I attempt the middle splits for about 45 seconds. But I'm not quite sure how to properly do them yet, since I'm very far from the floor; is it better for my knees and legs to go from straddle and push further from there, or to slide into them from standing up? My ankles and knees are in very different positions in both situations, so which is better for your legs?
