    Yoga helps me

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 03:16 PM PDT

    Hi all :]
I've been having really bad lower back pains and I started doing some yoga focusing on that area and I finally started feeling some relief, most of the pain is gone, I wish I was taught or introduced to yoga sooner, it's so pleasant for both the mind and body! I look forward to learning all I can learn about yoga hahah

    Beginner question

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 07:46 PM PDT

Hi everyone.. I started doing yoga since a week and I have been realising I'm not flexible at all.. is it normal? Or maybe its because I'm obese? I normally start playing a vid in YouTube and try to do.. any suggestions for beginners (would heartly welcome) 🙏🏻

    Day 16

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 09:06 AM PDT

So I just finished day 16 of the 2015 30 day challenge. This tome I actually managed to do a side plank . I couldn't do it it a few weeks ago. I was a bit shaky in the arms but breathed through it.

    Skill Yoga App Review/Initial Impressions

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 08:08 PM PDT

Skill Yoga App Review Hi all, this is something I have searched high and low for and was unable to find a review to an app I'd been getting ads for, "Skill Yoga"

My initial impressions that made me seek out reviews is that this was more movement, strength, and skills oriented yoga and as a Seminary Grad I was hoping to not have the incorporated spirituality since I'd be more likely to dissect it than embrace it. Another aspect that I noticed is that the app is built with an intention towards progressive classes, starting with foundational movements and later building up to more challenging movements. Since I didn't see reviews and a discount through Instagram came my way I thought I would provide a review for others who hesitate to buy a thing without a review.

So far I have only done the beginner routine twice through. I was hesitant about this because my ego of having done a fair amount of yoga wanted to start in the intermediate classes but I figured why not, I could always work the foundations. Thank goodness I did that. These classes were not easy by any stretch, even though they were only 30 minutes a piece and I feel like I learned more technique and sequencing than I would have otherwise.

As for the rest of the app, it seems like all the classes are substantial. There are courses designed to get you set up for some of the harder skill poses, like handstand or side crow. And they are adding more.

The only possible con I can see is that the classes are only 30 minutes tops. For me this is perfect since I also run and strength train so I can't reasonably fit in an entire hour of yoga in my day (so I count it as a pro).

The quality of the videos and the clarity of the instruction (in both the description and annunciation) is great. I feel like I am paying for a quality product and would definitely recommend trying it, especially since they have a 14 day refund trial period.

    Happy to answer any questions!

Chronic Sciatica & Pelvic Tilt etc

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 04:18 PM PDT

    Hello all,

I dabbled in yoga, treating it more like a stretching/meditative practice till lockdown where I decided to do it almost daily to stay in shape and I targeted my lower back and hamstrings since I've ALWAYS had an anterior pelvic tilt and used to have sciatica.

After gyms opened back up I felt better than ever and thought I could start hitting the gym again (light weight and focusing on form) but now my sciatica is back again and I can't let this process keep happening and I want to rehabilitate myself. Does anyone know if a program or a series that focuses well on this to function as a rehabilitation program? Or general advice?

(I am seeing pelvic floor PT soon bit it could take months to get an appointment)

    Thanks for reading!

    Yoga with nerve damage?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 01:22 PM PDT

For the last two months I've been doing yoga 6 times a week and really getting into a routine that was both enjoyable and challenging. A few days ago I noticed that when I was doing anything that stretched my hamstrings, I'd get pins and needles in my legs and feet. Since then, whenever I sit for more than a few minutes I get pins and needles again. I'm fairly certain I overstretched and damaged a nerve (it's probably just irritated/inflamed). Any idea whether I should keep doing yoga with modifications so as not to extend my hamstrings too much (hard to avoid entirely) or take a break for a couple of weeks? I'd like to maintain my routine if possible but I'm not sure if continuously stretching my legs/lower back will help the situation or make it worse. Please note there is no pain involved.

Anyone ever experienced knee indentions after yoga?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 12:50 PM PDT

So I've been practicing yoga off and on for about five months now, and recently after doing poses that involve me to put weight on my knees, I've noticed there are dimples or indentions below my patella on each knee. Has anyone else experienced something similar to that? My mat is very thin by the way.
