I posted a front bend yesterday that got so much great feedback, it made my heart melt. So here’s me doing it in the opposite direction! I’m just a bendy girl aspiring to be a mechanic with a huge love for woodworking lol

    No flexibility progress

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 03:20 AM PDT

    Hey there,

I'm a 21 years old female and I've been practicing yoga for 9 months every day. I follow the calendar by Adriene (Yoga with Adriene), some days I also add my own sequence or just some stretches. I also exercise three to four times a week (Pamela Reif, Kayla Itsines and so on) I always stretch after the workout.

I've never been flexible I can't touch my toes or sit in a 90 degree angle with my legs straight. I've always been the most inflexible person in my gym class.

I see progress in my strength and endurance (I also try to walk a lot) and I'm really happy for it. However, I'm curious, why my flexibility doesn't improve. I don't want to do anything crazy but I would like to touch my toes,... etc.

Is there anything I can do about it?

Thank you for your help :)

Can anyone share some effective and straightforward middle split routines?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 08:23 PM PDT

I've been stretching for a few years, but I always feel like I'm not making much progress with my middle split. I'm flat in both splits so I want to commit to getting this. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I'd really appreciate if y'all could share anything that worked well for you and uses stretches that are easy to understand and don't rely too much on balance. Thanks!

Tips/exercises for working on thoracic ROM to improve backbends?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 11:47 AM PDT

My lumbar (low back) extension ROM is just fine, but I've started experiencing some pain whenever I begin extension. I saw my chiropractor about it and he noticed I didn't have a lot of thoracic/mid-back ROM for extension and speculated my low back was overcompensating instead to get me into backbend positions, potentially causing the spinous processes on my vertebrae to touch and cause the pain.

I'm hoping for some tips/exercises to assist in specifically targeting my T-spine mobility that will help alleviate the pressure put on my lower back, and possibly improve the depths of my backbends!

    Thanks :)

A little motivation for your morning practice! Bringing space into the body doesn’t have to be all about long holds or deep stretching. This gentle routine is a great way to maintain flexibility and release tension early morning.

Is there something wrong with me?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2020 06:14 AM PDT

I've always had a high pain tolerance, but stretching is devastatingly painful for me. It's worse than that time my arm was literally on fire. I don't know what to do, there are a few back and arm stretches I can do, but anything relating to hamstrings or legs, forget it. It's getting worse, and I know it's from sitting too much, so I use a standing desk half the day. To be clear, I attempt stretching multiple times throughout the day, but can only do a couple minutes of it because of the pain. I've been to physical therapy and been coached on how to stretch, it still hurts too much. I'm wondering if I'm potentially deficient in some nutrient that helps with stretching? No luck googling it, except for maybe magnesium and fish oils? I just want to be able to stretch without feeling like dying, any advice is welcome!
