Letting go of the past has equipped my life with a jet engine Posted: 31 Aug 2020 06:59 PM PDT Everyone is guilty of clinging to this one thing whether embarrassing or amazing which existed for a moment but our layers of imagination built on top of it make us inflict ourselves with emotional pain or indulge in nostalgia. That one thing in the past. Past is what it is, a moment of time that you experience with some permutation of a place, people, things and time of day, nothing more. Conversation, arguments, and beautiful moments happened. HAPPENED. As you spend more time in that flesh, you're going to experience more moments and they'll keep increasing and it'll all keep happening. Then our brilliant but childish organ, brain, does what it should. For all the embarrassing moments you've ever experienced, it'll try to recreate those moments. One thing at which our brains are particularly bad is, recreating the past moments. Think of reality as the life of an average person, and your brain's recreation as the Instagram life of a billionaire rapper. Those recreations exaggerate already shiny aspects but won't even include the subtleties. So, what ends up happening is it'll exaggerate what happened to you, the humiliation that you'll face in your brain's recreated scenario will be manifolds of what you actually experienced, and it'll be amplified the fact that your brain is trying to tell you that all those people who were present in the moment are still thinking about it and mocking you. But that pain is not even the worst part of it. The worst part is that you get stuck in the past. During teenage, you've gathered enough moments for your brain to savor on it for next few decades, and because you've felt so humiliated in your imagination, you won't even try to take any kind of risks but the truth is that happy, sad and embarrassing moments are inevitable, no matter how much you try to avoid them. For the brain to think about the past in more objective needs practice. Life is chaos"Life is chaos" is the idea that you need to accept before you can let go of the past. During school and university years, the experiences that we get are more uncontrolled than what we get when we are in the initial 5 years of our life. We think that we can avoid all the "unacceptable" experiences by trying to overanalyze the situation, but we are so young that we don't realize that any upcoming future event will be totally different. Our brains' tendency to recreate the situation in which it corrects the mistake and thinks what you should do the next time for the moment to be perfect is predicated on the assumption that the next time will be the same. It won't. Even if you have the same situation with another person, well, the other person is different. There is no need to change yourself because you had one bad experience with one person, location, or thing. You'll keep changing yourself every time with no result because every new scenario will be different. Life is chaos. I don't mean that you shouldn't improve yourself. You should, if that problem is dependant solely on you like if you're rude to everyone, well that won't change even if life throws a different set of people at you, only you can consciously improve your behaviour. If you lack money, only you can make that change by improving your skills and by being more marketable. But if someone didn't like that you play the piano instead of the violin because they like the violin, don't change yourself. Did you get humiliated by someone in public? Let it go. What happened, let it go. Anyway, by genuinely accepting that life is chaos, makes you more accepting of the past and the fact that what happened in the past has a complete possibility to happen again even if you try your best to avoid. So, don't even try to think about what you can do to avoid something which isn't in your control even though your ego might make you think otherwise. Noting is game-changerMeditation is free. Consume it instead of Netflix. Mediation is nothing but the act of being in presentand letting go of the past and future. There are many practices to do meditation or mindfulness but here's the one technique that you can perform throughout the day, and is simple to understand; it's called Noting. What is noting?Noting is the technique of bringing oneself to present as soon as you realize that you're distracted. Your mind will try to think and create imaginations but as soon as you realize that you're thinking about anything and not experiencing the current moment, you just note that feeling and bring your attention back to the present. Noting has been a game-changer for me. The mind will flow with thoughts but because I've accepted that life is chaos and I've no control over it, it's very easy to just note that I'm distracted and I need to bring my attention back to the present. Otherwise, it would've been easier to indulge in the thoughts about the past and not live the current moment at all. And if you think about it, after a certain age when you've enough moments that you are just living in the past, all your upcoming moments, weeks, years will just be about the thoughts about the past good or bad. Anyway, just by letting go of the past has helped me so much to take risks again in life, whether it's job, relationships, social interactions, or hobbies. I'm no more afraid of failing at any of them just because I failed earlier partly due to something which was in my control but majorly because of the factors which were not in my control. You are losing your choice to be happy and letting yourself be a victim every moment you spend reliving your past.

Posted: 31 Aug 2020 08:47 AM PDT Have people tried this? I find it profoundly different from "normal" sitting med. It focuses on the body, not the mind. Every time I have tried walking meditation, I have gotten lost in the complexity of my own musculoskeletal system. There are so many ways of walking! I'm always trying to return to the "right" way (the right walk), like returning to the breath in sitting med. I'm overwhelmed with observations about how incompetent my movements are (I never was good at sports or dancing.) I'm curious to know what walking med. is like for those who have tried it! The subconscious/unconscious mind is mental illuminati Posted: 31 Aug 2020 09:55 PM PDT If the illuminati is (allegedly) a group that hides in the shadows while controlling the world, then we also have our own personal versions: our unconscious minds. These create help to create our thoughts and feelings and by proxy, actions. This can happen without us even noticing them, because we're so used to it. It's always going to have a presence in our lives, but we must learn to accept it without being controlled by it [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to live inside your head? Posted: 31 Aug 2020 05:48 PM PDT I've had this thought and apparently it's been done on sherlock, about if you can live inside your mind. Like would it be possible for me to mentally create an environment i could exist within and interact with if i thought hard enough. How can I do it if possible? [link] [comments] |
Meditation enhances music directly afterwards. Anyone else experience this? Posted: 31 Aug 2020 06:52 PM PDT For an hour or longer after a deep meditation, music is super enhanced. It sounds richer, more emotional, and I can hear each and every sound. I can isolate each sound as well and keep my focus on it. Anyone else? Wow I'm so happy right now :) [link] [comments] |
Broke Someone's Heart 7 Years Ago... Posted: 31 Aug 2020 11:31 PM PDT How do you deal with the guilt of hurting someone 7 years ago, if it clearly still has an effect on their life today? The bitterness is still there. Obviously you still care for a person, but making amends seems impossible. [link] [comments] |
Do not entertain the stories, beliefs and thoughts of your mind, do not buy into them! Posted: 31 Aug 2020 02:58 PM PDT Do not entertain the stories, beliefs and thoughts of your mind, do not buy into them! You appear to have many problems, but there is a legitimate way to "overcome" all of them. Seriously. The identity you think you are is your biggest problem because it is the one thinking and believing created problems of the mind. While in the present moment, there are literally no problems at all.By the present moment, I do not mean what your identity might think; "My life is shitty right now! I have the problems right now! This isn't helping me!" Rather, I mean if you would turn off all these thoughts, and be present for a few moments. See really what is going on around you. Be aware that you are aware. For a few moments unplug, and just exist. Be. The identity you think you are has created many problems, but it is only the identity that has these problems. Not the being. And you are the being. So by unplugging and reconnecting with your own source, the beingness itself, the sense of "I Am", you can actually see life with clarity. Life does not really have a story, the only story there is, is the one created by the identity which itself is made up by the mind. There is no actual necessity to keep these stories up. In fact, it only takes away from your natural presence, the beingness within you. Every single thought you identify your self with, you vibrate lower, and you are less present, and less likely to see life for what it truly is. To want to change your life means the present moment is not good enough. To want to make it different is literally what the society wants you to do. It wants you to always want some kind of "ideal" life that you see in movies or in youtube or other places that distract you from the truth. Buddha did not want to change his life, jesus christ did not want to change his life. To be enlightened you must stop wanting to change your life and just be present in the life that is. If you were to unplug and see what is actually going on in the present moment, like waking up from a dream of stories, you would see that peace, love, and joy are all present. They are the natural perfume of the beingness. And you are that beingness. It is not separate from you, it is all you are actually. You just think you are something else, and you identify with these thoughts. Are thoughts necessary for being and functioning in the world? Definitely not.If you are thinking all the time, you have nothing to think about except thoughts. ~Alan watts The ego has a desire to change your life and it will always have that desire, the ego is a thing that changes, so it will always be wanting that change. But you are not changing. You are the unchanging witness, the awareness that is always here in the present moment, observing all the changeful. You want to be in that unchanging place, and not follow around the ego. Life will appear to be changing either way in the dynamic world, and the more you are aware and live in the unchanging place of the awareness/heart the more beautiful life will become. So do not aim to change your life, aim to be present in life so you can have clarity and share your peace, joy, love and compassion with others. This means, that you are not seeing life, you are not thinking about life, rather you are generating more thoughts about already existing thoughts. You have a thought saying "I am not good enough" and then you start thinking about "How do I become good enough?" but you are just thinking about thoughts. Not about reality. You have completely identified with these thoughts, and now instead of being, you are thinking. That is not our nature. We do not exist to think. We exist to be. You do not have to stress about anything, blame anything, want anything, desire anything, imagine anything, conceptualize anything, think of anything, you are allowed to just be.Simply be, be alive. Exist. When you are in your natural effortless state, your perfume is joy, love, peace, and compassion. We are such a wonderful being, you are allowed and it is good for you to actually be present, with your own beingness. The less we are (being) the more we suffer. It is not necessary! Suffering is believed to be something that is literally life itself. Suffering is rooted in thoughts, beliefs, ideas, concepts, emotions, sensations, imagination and attachments that you are identifying with. If you were to not identify with anything at all, you are literally unable to suffer. Your beingness can't suffer. You are currently identifying as an identity made up by your mind, which is a "sufferer".Now, you are aware of this identity "sufferer", otherwise you wouldn't be identifying as this sufferer. This inevitably means that there is an awareness of even this awareness otherwise this observation couldn't be made. So there is an identity you are currently identifying as, a "sufferer". There is an awareness of this identity. Then there is you, the beingness, the witness of the awareness. You, the witness of awareness were simply conditioned to believe you are the identity while in fact you were the witness of all of this movie since forever and will be the witness forever. You are always the beingness. Anything you can be aware of is not you. Go back within and see what can be seen. Identity is seen. Awareness of identity is seen. Awareness of the awareness of the identity, can that be seen? No. That is you. The beingness, source, universal consciousness. Always remember, life (the universe) takes care of life (you, beingness, also the universe). You are not abandoned, nor can you be abandoned. There is no separate being to be abandoned. Just as you are being, the whole universe is being. The identity you are identifying as can feel and think it is abandoned, but that identity is not you. It is just a thought in your mind that you are identifying as.You, the beingness, did not come to this life, nor will you ever go. You are eternal. You are the observer of this movie. What appears to be a problem is the identity you currently identify as. The identity is naturally creating problems, it is its job you could say. It is just thinking and conceptualizing and imagining more problems in every moment. That is why your life seems overwhelming. Instead of being aware, you identify as this identity that is bound to have problems. Be aware. Live. That is your purpose. Exist. You are already supreme, you are already perfect. When people say "The universe has abandoned us, he did not create as complete, he did not create us whole!" you already know who is making up these thoughts and beliefs. It is the identity. Well, even the identity is not abandoned. Imagine if there was no at least some sense of peace, some sense of beingness, all these made up stories by the mind and all these problems that are created by the identity, it is unlikely you did not kill your self yet. Something is holding you from doing that. There is a higher power which makes you feel as if not all is lost. There is something taking care of you, even when it seems like your whole existence is just one big problem and suffering. Somehow you keep on living. That is the sense of beingness. The beingness itself is complete, it is whole, it is joyful, it is loving, it is compassionate, it is peaceful, and you are it. You simply keep identifying the beingness (you) with a suffering identity! You do not need, want, or have to be anything nor do anything. The universe truly, made you perfect. Whole. Complete. The beingness does not need to work on anything. The identity will work on one thing, and another thing will come up. It is a never-ending, vicious cycle of suffering. (But only the identity is suffering, not you, the beingness!)The key is to simply be aware of these thoughts, stories, beliefs, ideas, and not identifying and interacting with the mind when it presents all of this nonsense. It means nothing at all. The identity is taking life and its story extremely personally. That is the root of its suffering. The identity is bound to taking things personally, as the identity itself is personal, but the beingness is impersonal. The beingness takes no offense, can't experience suffering, it can't even die. The only thing that appears to be able to "die" is the identity. As this body returns back to earth, it means truly, the end of this made-up identity. There is no rebirth into this identity. What is meant by the saying "Die before you die" is exactly this, the death of the identity, while you, the beingness still are. The death of the identity, will set you free. You will be able to experience life wholly, not limited by an identity with certain beliefs, thoughts, ideas, concepts, imagination, attachments, desires, emotions and sensations. You can be completely free of all of these things. You can reverse conditioning, and be the natural beingness that you are, all the time. Truth is, life just is. It has nothing to do with the identity you are currently identifying as.Simply, be, observe and enjoy the movie. This perspective will let you see everything clearly, and from there life will be blissful, full of joy, full of love, full of peace, full of compassion because truly, that is the nature of your being.Do not continue to entertain all of these stories in your mind. Stop interacting with them. Be still. Do nothing. Stay as awareness, as your self. - Sebastian Key [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Aug 2020 08:21 PM PDT I'll have realizations a lot and will think that I'm making progress but the times that I realize the situation and the realization collide is a little to late. It's like this build up after the point where I realize something that keeps growing waiting for me to notice and act in the way I know I should. In the beginning it seems like I'm always just a little late. Then I catch up to that Maine this and see it happening. Eventually I see it before it happens and can adjust to make myself act correctly before any "wrong" action is taken. What I've learned after seeing this process play out over and over is that I have the ability to make that all happen after just one time of making a "wrong" step. I've actually started to see the possibility of the "wrong" path before it happens and have learned to adjust my thinking before anything actually happens. This has helped me with my reactive actions as well as keeping my self more grounded throughout the day since they happen regularly, so I remember to be aware more often. Just thought I'd share Incase anyone else is around this point but couldn't find the words yet. Hopefully this can help guide you, and me too. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Aug 2020 11:09 PM PDT hi guys so yesterday during my daily meditation, towards the end of the mediation it was getting super intense with almost vivid imagery. the symbolism i had questions for was first the blue morpho or just blue butterfly that was all by itself floating and glowing as the only being appearing in my mind at that moment. at the very end i asked my spirit guides to show me what i need, and the butterfly took its last flap and out came the head of a wolf, it was looking right through me as if i was looking in a mirror, there we no sounds or any other imagery other than the lone wolf who stared at me, howled, (no sound for me), and vanished into light. where my meditation then seemed complete. what could this mean? thank you [link] [comments] |
Tired and headaches after meditating for a few days Posted: 31 Aug 2020 11:02 PM PDT I've been meditating for about 4 months, but I find that after I meditate for a few days, I feel really drained and tired. When I stop for a few days I get back to normal. After a few days meditating I also get waves of a headache that go across my whole head rather than be concentrated in one place. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? [link] [comments] |

Whenever there is a Full Moon or close to full moon Meditation does not work For Me Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:43 AM PDT So am I the only one that experiences this? During Full Moons or a day before when the moon is almost full, When I do my morning Meditation, there is no effect. But during Full moons I already feel more weightless, relaxed and in that state where things in my life are easy. nothing feels like a drag during these times, so My best introspective guess is that I do not feel a vast difference when meditating because I am already in that state. Also I find I can run on 0 sleep during the 4 days (1day before Full Moon, Full Moon day, Blue Moon Day, 1 Day after the Blue Moon Day) and not feel any lethargic effects whatsoever and no impairment whatsoever. I know one can say this is something you believe in your head therefore its a placebo but I kid you not there are days when I don't realize its a full moon And il be like why are things going so easy for me (I feel 0 drag that day doing anything I feel as though things are easy i dont over think problems and i feel as seperated from my mind as I do on days I meditate). I meditate every morning 45 mins because (apart from full moon days) After a good night of sleep when my consciousness returns into my body & mind i feel as though my seating of consciousness is misaligned again its not centered (this is the best analogy i can describe— I don't feel like my consciousness is identified with the source self) After 45 mins morning meditation I am once again centered with my source and my dynamic life body and mind and universe seems to flow alot better. Days I don't meditate I feel alot of pressure and muscle tension innmy head I don't feel clarity in my day to day life and this muscle tension in my face head interferes with my thoughts/creativity and actually the muscle tension makes me feel angry and annoyed with anything external. But anyways not to digress, The full Moon does effect me positively or in a sense where if im positive things flow positive if i chose negativity the world around me flows negatively ( so its as if my thoughts and feelings are amplified have more of an effect to my days as opposed to days without a full moon + simply having done meditation) Anyone else notice a difference in their meditation on days where there is a full moon? If so what differences do you feel with your meditation? 🔥 🙏 [link] [comments] |
Meditation is related to Nirvana Posted: 01 Sep 2020 01:43 AM PDT What is meditation? Most people think that sitting in a posture with your legs folded and your neck straight while your eyes are closed is meditation. I am sorry, but it is not. Meditation according to me is reducing your MTR or your Mental Thought Rate. Mediation is reducing the number of thoughts that your mind produces from 50 per minute to 40, 30, 20 and finally trying to focus on just one thought. This is practically impossible because once you make your mind focus on one thought, you will achieve Nirvana or Liberation. What is Nirvana? Nirvana is that state of eternal joy and peace where you have no suffering, no pain; where you realize that you are not the body or mind or ego. You are the Divine life energy that is conscious and that is aware of the whole universe. How do you achieve Nirvana? You achieve Nirvana when you are able to kill your mind or rather transcend or overcome it. Therefore, they are directly connected. Meditation is the cause, Nirvana is the effect. Meditation is the tool, Nirvana is the goal. If you want to achieve Nirvana, you cannot do it in a noisy and chaotic world, you need silence and you need stillness. You need to meditate. You'd be amazed at what focusing on you're hearing can do for you Posted: 31 Aug 2020 11:09 AM PDT I used to have really really bad hearing. Mainly because I never really focused on the moment, didn't listen because I didn't care and played loud music in my ears. Now I'm 20, and I've done only a couple of meditations where I focus on my hearing and I was amazed at everything I've missed. Things are clear to me now. I can hear extremely well, probably way better if I didn't listen to music so loudly. Another tip, don't blast music in your ears. Please keep the volume low. I also practice mindful meditation, which has helped me live in the moment and pay attention more. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Aug 2020 06:25 PM PDT I've been practicing meditation for nearly a month now. I'm still very much a beginner but I've begun to get deeper into my practice. I like to meditate in the morning after a cup of coffee, it helps me to focus. However, every time I get into what feels like a deep meditative state I have a reoccurring negative experience. It is frightening, I can taste the negativity. It feels like it Is coming toward me but sometimes it is coming from me, or it is inside me. I sometime feel like vomiting as it is so overwhelming. I try to stay in that place and just ride it out but eventually it is quite difficult. Usually I lose focus and it goes away. The longest it's ever lasted is about 30 minutes but it seems to happen every time. Can anyone explain to me what is happening? [link] [comments] |

Has anyone tried Transcendental Meditation? Posted: 31 Aug 2020 07:41 PM PDT Is it worth it? Or is it just a money cult? Curious to hear from anyone who paid. I think the Maharishi was a sketchy dude but if his technique works, it works. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Aug 2020 10:55 PM PDT Throughout my whole life, I've had this ability to day dream, or go into my own world at will. Does this count as meditation? I've never really been certain of what meditiation is. I've recently looked into the stoic philosophies, and there is a lot of talk of meditiation. Is what I have been doing meditation? Whats the difference between daydreaming and meditation? Is it the fact that meditiation relies on the silencing of the brain? [link] [comments] |
When do you count when you have been distracted? Posted: 31 Aug 2020 10:49 PM PDT Something I notice about meditation is that the mind is always full of "thoughts". I put thoughts in quotations here to distinguish the random noise in the head from the more intrusive or pointed thoughts that try to vie for our attention. My practise right now focuses on simple breath work. I count my breaths in sets of 10 and then restart. I intersperse this with a few body scans and then also switch to intently focusing on the sounds in the environment around me. Through all of this there is always a background sea of noise in the mind. A bubbling of thoughts. Snippets of conversation, music, images, ideas, thoughts, feelings. The static of the mind. Most of these do not rise to the level of true distraction I would say. I am aware of them all there but it's easy enough to continue focusing on my breath, body scan or the environment. But some types of thoughts are much more insistent. Things that I may count as "important", emotionally charged events, things that happened that day, fears, judgments etc. These are like a puppy that comes up to you and barks for attention. Often I can still focus on my breath but there is definitely resistance here. These are like trying to listen to the ocean when a child is scream for attention lol. Neither of these do I count as being actually distracted fully. But I wonder if others do? For me I find real distraction occurs when I realize my conscious attention on my object of meditation has been broken. Interestingly enough it's not always the noisy puppy vying for attention that gets me. Sometimes I notice I've just been daydreaming about something. I make note of it and return to the breath etc. Sometimes though it is the noisy puppy lol. How do others relate to what I write here? [link] [comments] |
