Posted: 10 Sep 2020 12:14 AM PDT I've always been a zoned out dreamer, ever since I was a kid. I zone out when I am anxious to escape it, i zone out when relaxing because my brain is working so hard to deal with anxiety, I zoned out when I was a child and I zone out as an adult. I am working very hard to break this habit with meditation as it's gotten me into a lot of trouble. I would be belittled and ridiculed for my lack of present awareness and for not being "snappy" or "in the moment". Because of meditation I have been able to separate myself from my emotions largely, and so I have been able to determine for myself whether the ridicule is justified or not. I have come to to the conclusion it is somewhat justified, in the sense that it's not good to be a mindless zombie all of the time. Zoning out has been an unhealthy coping mechanism for me, where acceptance and feeling+checking of emotions is healthy. However I tend to still get "engulfed" in thoughts. I don't just notice them, I become them. My entire mind because consumed by the thought and it becomes a little "play in my mind". Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this and is this how thoughts are supposed to feel? I also notice that after reconnecting with my thoughts via meditation, i find that this is completely different from thoughts. Thoughts manifest themselves as feelings to me, or words my brain is telling me, where this is almost an entire state of mind. Anyone experiencing this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Sep 2020 09:07 PM PDT "Serenity comes when you trade expectations with Acceptance" Buddha.Have you ever imagine how much restlessness one can control and get rid of just with the help of one powerful word Acceptance. What does Acceptance means, what is the essence of this word?Acceptance, means getting close to the reality, and take things the way they are without attaching any kind of thoughts, emotions and opinions to it. Reality is never hurtful, as it is just the outcome or the way situation turned out to be, it is only troublesome when we attach opinions, feelings and thoughts to it. The original event changes to a new and manufactured reality which is nowhere near the actuality and that is what the most hurtful and dangerous. All this can be very easily resolved by this one word called Acceptance, which not only help you or your mind but also bring back the peace which you were always looking for. Acceptance is a such a big tool, if used well will not only help you live in present moment but also will take most of the pain away. Learn how our emotions takes us away from reality, click here. Most of the times things become a struggle and stress because we refuse to take the outcome and fight it with our thoughts and emotions. We need to understand how so many external things are not in our control and how fighting to take control of things which are outside of us is just simply a futile effort. What and only what we can control is ourselves and our reactions, that is what's in our hand and acceptance plays a big role in bringing the control from inside. In the end that is all what matters how peaceful and in control you are of yourself.Learn how to use this tool:1. Emotional Acceptance: Every thought which comes to your mind, has the power to raise your feelings and emotions to a level which can lead you to take wrong steps. These steps can result in a outcome, which can change the course of action completely and that is what you don't want. Acceptance of arising emotion or feeling due to particular situation, outcome or things can play a big role here in terms of resolving the thought process, bringing the required peace and reduce the probability of wrong outcome. For e.g: If you are not happy with your boss or the work you do, it could lead you to the thoughts of unhappiness, which can eventually produce the feelings of desperation and mental unrest. This emotion of unrest can result in impulsive decisions of change in job and ending up somewhere even worse. This wrong outcome can be stopped or the effect of setback can be reduced, by simply accepting your emotions the moment they arise, accepting that there is unrest in your mind along with accepting your bosses behavior. When acceptance comes, it brings instant calmness. You can not change others, but a small change in yourself can easily reduce the pain coming your way due to others behaviour. This calmness can not only be used towards pardoning your boss, but also reducing the impact of impulsive behavior along with the development of rational thinking. And then you can decide if like to stay or move on. A decision made in haste could result in disaster, but there is very minimum probability that a decision made with calm and rational thinking could go wrong.2. Acceptance of other person individuality: In our day to day life, we always find ourselves controlled by others and this control is higher from the people we love, like our family or friends. More the closeness in relationship higher the control. Because we feel that we are always thinking towards the goodwill of others, the other person is not competent or experienced enough to make the right call. This feeling and control sometimes can go to a dangerous level and can ruin the relationship. You need to accept and respect the others person individuality and give yourself permission to accept he or she can take the right decision for themselves. Your job is to share your experience, but the other person knows what's best for them and let them take their own call. So start accepting and stop controlling.3.Acceptance of change: We can never run away from change. We all get so much comfortable with our current situation, job or bad relationship that it gets hard for us to change. But believe me change is inevitable, change will surely come, if not with ease then forcefully, which could bring difficulties or traumas with it. But with accepting the need for change and accepting the emotional turmoil going in your mind one can decrease the emotional pain and increase the peace and calm. This peace and calm then eventually make the transition much easier. First don't be afraid of change and second accept the incoming emotion or feeling, which will definitely make the change easy.4.Acceptance towards current situation: We are always on an auto thinking mode, either thinking about past or future. We make goals and keep on challenging ourselves all the times, believing that our future will be good. If today is bad doesn't matter, but our future is what really matters and that needs to be good. This thinking makes our current situation or present highly unhappy and stressful.Understand when future will come, you will be present their to decide and things which are past now, you were present there as well. Everything goes through present moment. Acceptance of your current situation will activate your mental calmness, bring happiness and peace, which will not only make your past event memorable but your future also amazing. Learn how to build positive attitude, click here.If your current situation is bad, then accept this, just as the current reality, not as permanent reality and keep striving for betterment. This acceptance of impermanence will reduce your stress level and will make you over productive. It is all about attitude towards dealing with things, if you maintain positive attitude then whatever the issue is, you can deal with it. And for positive attitude acceptance of now plays a big role.5. Acceptance for better life: Overall acceptance will develop ease, positivism, promote rational thinking, bring calmness, reduce stress and your reactions. So in all making your overall life amazing. Learn more about mindfulness, click here.Acceptance brings you close to reality, it is such a powerful tool that helps us tremendously, not only by making things easy and clear in terms of understanding, but also helps you find better solutions. It also keeps you calm and relaxed.ThanksCalm Mind Power[link] [comments]
First time seriously meditating, what I felt. Posted: 09 Sep 2020 03:37 PM PDT I was super focused and relaxed, I could feel the relaxation running down my legs and I wasnt so tense. This was amazing, I'm going to keep doing it along with NoFap. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Sep 2020 08:04 PM PDT Hi I've been meditating on and off for over a year now, really want to go way more into it and make it a daily habit. I use insight timer which I think is one of the best out there. While I've been meditating I've been having throbbing like sensations in my hands which I can't find the meaning off and don't know if this is a good or bad thing? Also throughout my body I have tingling sensations which I read is a good thing so my question is really just about my hands lol. Does anyone else experience the same thing or know what this could mean? [link] [comments]
| Posted: 09 Sep 2020 10:02 PM PDT The purpose of this post is like a log of sorts. Tonight I tried meditating for the first time. I've done it a little before in stress management class before but that was not my choice. It was this time. One of my coolest and most lax friend meditates. I've told him I should try it for a couple years now but never did until now. It was nice. A little under six minutes. I sat in my dark bedroom. Closed my eyes, and for most of it let my thoughts flow, and the other half tried to just be in the here and now. I was feeling a little invisible and ignored but that feeling became a lot less present after meditating. I think I get why my friend does it now. I can't say I completely get it since I haven't done it much, but still. Thanks for reading to anyone who does. If you don't feel like you're winning, I hope that changes for you soon. | Posted: 09 Sep 2020 06:00 PM PDT So I made a post yesterday talking about how I've been having trouble meditating and trying to force awareness and force myself to notice thing instead of feeling and watching my thought and this also happens when trying to Become more present someone told me to be the witness but I'm still not quite sure what that means they also mention letting go of the expectations to be conscious and accept the present moment fully but I'm still having trouble understand fully what they mean by being the witness, letting go , and acceptance [link] [comments] |

Posted: 09 Sep 2020 01:06 PM PDT Ok my meditations are pretty standard honestly. Sometimes I get a few odd happenings but nothing too overly extreme. However just a minute ago I was fociai on my out breath and for some reason just zoned into it. Like it felt like I was breathing out for several minutes, there was nothing else just my breath going out (I was not suffocating) for quite awhile, only a second passed but it just felt like I was riding the tunnel through it. Just amazing feeling then I snapped back but wow. I am not going to attempt to recreate it just going to accept it and move on but needed to share. What an experience. [link] [comments]
Progress bouncing back and forth? Posted: 09 Sep 2020 07:48 PM PDT Some background, over the past month or so I have been bringing meditation back into my life. Actually I've meditated more consistently and for longer and more frequent periods than ever in my whole life. Last summer I did a 10-day Vipassana course, and within about a month after that I had gone back to not really meditating anymore. I knew I received an incredible tool from the course, I just had too many distractions and prioritized things in my life at the time poorly. But now I've been getting into deeper states of meditation than I ever have. I've been doing 40m-1hr twice a day, pretty much sticking to Ānāpānasati (mindfulness of sensations caused by breathing), since I still need to develop my samatha before resuming Vipassana. I have the same problem I had when I was at the course, and that is absolutely terrible flexibility. I had to get a back rest after the first day because my knees were pretty high in the air sitting cross-legged, my hip flexors flexed to the max in order to keep myself from falling backwards, and after only about 5 minutes my legs would start shaking intensely and uncontrollably from my hip flexors supporting the whole weight of my torso and attempting to balance my body. It is a huge distraction. But I've just been sitting on pillows on my bed with my back against the wall, and I've been able to make progress in my concentration. Until I started worrying about my posture again. In this position on my bed, my back and shoulders are extremely rounded and slumped. Now I try to hold my back straight, but that ends up causing my back muscles to start twitching distractingly after a while of holding myself up straight, or if they don't start twitching they just slowly loosen over time until I realize I'm slumped over again, and they become quite sore (but this part I can deal with more easily). So focusing on my posture has made it so the past week I've barely been able to get into any state of concentration during meditation. I've been stretching, working on my hip flexibility for the past month too, and slowly improving, but my flexibility is still abysmal. I'm wondering where I should focus my efforts. In developing and maintaining concentration without regard for my posture until my flexibility improves and I can do more about it? Focusing on building the muscular endurance to hold myself up straight? Or splitting it in between? Which is kind of what I'm doing when I focus on my posture since it has kinda been preventing me from meditating. I know people have asked about posture many times before I just don't know what I should focus on right now as far as when I'm practicing meditation. And I guess I could use some advice on how to improve my posture and maintain it during practice. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Sep 2020 03:15 PM PDT I hate my ex for leaving me and ignoring me. How can I get rid of this hate and the fear of moving on? I guess I'm afraid if I get rid of it, I won't feel anything towards my ex. So I guess the fear is rooted in my fear of losing her completely. [link] [comments]
Started meditating with a friend everynight for about two months now. Where to go from here? Posted: 09 Sep 2020 07:43 AM PDT Hi everyone, how u doing? I've been meditating with a friend for about two months now. Every night we sit down, light up an incense and meditate. Our meditation basically consists on being silent and focused on our breathing. We don't have any extreme knowledge on meditation so we just follow our common sense based on what we learned so far. I keep saying "we" because we meditate at the same time but it's ultimately individual on the way we do it. We started with 5 minutes sessions and stepped up as we felt ready. Now we are on 25 minutes. My question is where to go from here? Should i just keep increasing time until we reach a 4 hour streak or should i move into different kinds of meditation, like guided ones? Never tried those because silence works well for me, but recently heard about some kind of self love meditation and it seems interesting. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Sep 2020 06:52 PM PDT I had like a tingly or vibration feeling in my head towards the end of my session. Im new to meditation and I started because stress has gotten a hold on my life. I felt this weird sensation and got kinda creeped out, but after my session I do feel a little tired out and a bit less on edge which is great. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Sep 2020 06:18 PM PDT I started meditation yesterday.i want to continue the practice of meditation every morning from now on. Wanted to know how long should I meditate.can you guys give me some tips and videos that will help me not get distracted during my session.. I cant focus so much when I meditate. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Sep 2020 09:23 AM PDT I know this is a weird question, but i can almost force my concentration, ive tried to avoid doing this for the most part because it feels like it puts a strain my brain. When i first started meditating, i would do this and reach much much deeper states of meditation than i did now. Is it okay to do this or is there a downside to this? Edit: rephrasing [link] [comments]
| Posted: 09 Sep 2020 01:04 PM PDT Not sure if this is the right sub, sorry, but let me tell you my story. Let me preface by saying I do not believe in religion and do not give me biblical quotations or meanings as a response. SO I had a severely nasty infection, puss and the works that I should've needed antibiotics for. As in, so gross and nasty over the counter shit wouldn't have worked (sorry). This being said, I decided I was done with this infection after three days. I laid down and went into a several hour-long meditation and told myself "this infection will go away." I then made myself soup and went to sleep. The next morning my infection was gone. I have no explanation or words but pleasant amazement! I guess the mind is as amazing as they say.
