How do you produce a will to live when the world is so fucked up? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 02:23 PM PDT I've turned to meditation to take these negative thoughts away but I'm genuinely curious how people want to continue to live with all the hate that surrounds the entire planet. Edit: Sorry for the very off topic discussion but I just wanted to know how people who meditate often deal with the knowledge of the world being fucked. [link] [comments] |
''You are not your thoughts'' high level of mindfulness? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:09 AM PDT I see it a lot on the meditation world your not your thoughts. After long time of meditation you can reach this level that you don't react to your thoughts? Every time i had disturbing thoughts it annoy me throughout all day. So Why people say your not your thoughts? if your thoughts change you? If you have thought that you are idiot for example it will show up on your life. Edit: I just had today meditation after reading all the comments and after affirming myself that I am not my thoughts and I had the best meditation of all times! This understanding really improve my meditation to another level. [link] [comments] |
Because we don't know that W E ARE Happiness, we keep seeking it! Posted: 30 Oct 2020 07:36 PM PDT Happiness is like a shadow. The more you chase it, the further it goes. Unfortunately, we don't know what happiness is. We think it is a product and we seek it. We think it is a place and we aspire to go to 'destination' happiness. We think it is a person and we try to be with happiness. We don't realize that happiness is a state of being. If we want happiness, we must learn to be happy. The truth is that we are happiness, but because we have forgotten this, we keep seeking it. Happiness is within. We must not search for it outside. We must go within and be happy. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Oct 2020 03:26 PM PDT If you suffer from social anxiety then you might stress in advance about meeting up with people, feel anxiety about going out in public, have regular thoughts that you've said the wrong thing or worry what people think of you. You're not alone - this is a common challenge people face. How you perceive your anxiety can start to change the impact that it has on you. You can smile to your anxiety, unlock the door, invite them in, sit at the table and listen. Shutting difficult feelings out doesn't work - accepting your feelings will reduce the impact on your wellbeing. In the social setting, you can breathe and focus on how your body moves with your inbreath/outbreath, noticing warmth/coolness, tension/relaxation, contact between skin and clothes, feet and floor. Taking a few moments to breath and focus on your body will ground you in the present moment and reduce your anxiety. Accepting our feelings and giving our mind time to settle creates the space for real connection. Really listening to what a person has to say is an act of kindness, and saying in your head "may you be happy and peaceful" before listening helps to connect and enjoy the interaction with that person. This takes practice of course - but over time can make a real difference to how you feel in social settings. [link] [comments] |
Extremely stressed at work, will meditation help me? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 07:58 AM PDT I am a lawyer, a criminal trial attorney specifically. I have a huge caseload, anything could go wrong at any time in any of them at any time. And then I have to do trials, which, let me tell you, are fucking stressful. I feel like 100% of my mind is taken up by work, stress, anxiety, and I have nothing left over to enjoy life. Is meditation as a practice a good place to start, or am I just screwed in having one of the most hight stress jobs there are? [link] [comments] |
I got emotional during my last meditation while calming down my anxiety! Posted: 30 Oct 2020 04:14 PM PDT My anxiety was started to act up really badly today, and instead of ruminating in my thoughts for hours like I normally would, I forced myself to sit down and meditate for 10 minutes. I used the method of imagining myself sitting on a beach, and seeing my thoughts and emotions as balloons flying by me in the sky. I watched thousands and thousands of balloons fly by me, but it was calming because I myself was separate from the balloons. I got this overwhelming sense of relief and started to just cry, because of the amazing feeling of not being a part of the thoughts and feelings that were making my anxiety act up. It was really powerful, and empowering. Thought I'd share this awesome experience with you all! :) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:34 AM PDT When I practice Mantra meditation or say Mantras throughout the day I try to focus on every word and slowly do it. Is this essentially the same as mindfulness and being aware of one's breath throughout the day? For reference, when I'm practicing mantra recitation my mind is clear of most thoughts and when it goes off then I re-bring the focus to the mantra. [link] [comments] |
(Question) Meditating while falling asleep and sleeping Posted: 30 Oct 2020 08:35 PM PDT I wanted to ask you if you know some technique for meditating while falling asleep and if the experience is different. I also wonder if there is anyone who was able to maditate while dreaming. [link] [comments] |

Insight I brought from a trip - we all have a deep-seated narrative. Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:05 AM PDT I wanted to explore human motivation, to know what drives us, and from the last trip I brought an insight that people psychologically need some narrative to live by. Without such narrative people feel lost and discomfortable. Mostly such narratives are 'forced' upon people by their culture, at times people pick a narrative that fits their personality themselves. By far the most popular narrative seems to be "long time ago we have lived in paradise, in perfect harmony with ourselves and nature ( myth of the golden age ), but we became corrupt, sinned and made God angry. So he banished us from paradise, but if we repent our sins right now he still might forgive us, otherwise we are doomed to an eternity in hell!" Basically this narrative is seen in almost all mass movements, from Christianity, to "climate alarmism" and "white guilt". What do you think, why such self-flagellating narrative is so popular? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:45 AM PDT I experienced that cold showers and meditation can be linked to each other. When taking a cold shower you will be completely in the present moment. You will be completely in the now. During this state you cannot observe your thoughts like you can in meditation. But the feeling of the present moment you get when taking a cold shower can help you during meditation. Besides that does a cold shower help you reduce stress levels. Lower stress levels can help you to get into the meditative state more easily. To spread love and awareness I created the free yourself project which will start with this video . Hopefully it will help you. Out on 21th of November. Hit the notification bell to get notified when the video can be watched. [link] [comments] |
Feeling overwhelmed with emotion while meditating Posted: 30 Oct 2020 05:58 PM PDT I'm fairly new to this practice, probably been doing it for around 4 months and have noticed a lot of benefits from it. However, recently I have noticed that when I come to meditate I am almost overwhelmed with emotion and find it very difficult to focus. Was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this before and if anyone has any tips to stay focused when feeling this way? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Is it true that meditation improves intuition? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 09:29 PM PDT My dad has been meditating for awhile and he went through a few traumas with his business. He is Buddhist but he never really practiced meditation until 2 years ago. He told me that meditation improves intuition. Especially when he is trying to make really big decisions, meditation helps. I want to know the relation behind that. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 12:43 PM PDT I asked someone about taking my meditation from 1 hour session all the up to 2 hours per set. He told me you may have more chance of getting an Ego backlash type effects? What does this Ego backlash means? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 08:55 PM PDT Ive been doing it for a few weeks now and its very hard for me. I can repeat a mantra such as "I love myself" over and over for 20 minutes but theres some issues I have. My mind says" this is not true" to the "I love myself" mantra, sometimes I get super angry and annoyed but I try to not react to it. I keep watching it, keep watching it, yet it doesnt seem to change. This too shall pass I feel the anger and resentment in my body yet my mind tries to trick me "youre not feeling this completely". I try to ignore it but it makes me angry. Its shown me fears and I cant help but hate myself. Everytime I do metta meditation it seems past hate is always there to punch me in the face. Im struggling with this. One meditation I said to myself "I love myself. I accept this completely. I let this go". Yet only more hate and anger arose. I dont understand. Someone help me. Im depressed after doing this as I feel Im making 0 progress. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 08:37 PM PDT I have only been meditating for about a week now (2 times a day) I'm bad at explaining so sorry in advance. I got this like high feeling and I started seeing colors I would kinda compare the feeling to when I was on acid once, anyways I tried to keep in my meditation but idk I couldn't maybe b/c I wasn't expecting that? I'm really wondering if I would have stayed meditating what would have happened or is that the end goal people aim for when meditating. Any knowledge will be helpful thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 10:52 AM PDT Meditation is witnessing. To meditate means to become a witness. Meditation is not a technique at all. Meditation happens beyond mind. No technique can go beyond mind. It is not a question of sitting silently, it is not a question of chanting a mantra. It is a question of understanding the subtle workings of the mind. As you understand those workings of the mind a great awareness arises in you, which is not of the mind. That awareness arises in your being, in your soul, in your consciousness. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2020 07:57 PM PDT I'm 27F and I have CPTSD and have struggled with severe suicidal ideation since I was an adolescent. I feel really disconnected from my body. Due to the disconnect and the constant hyper vigilance I experience a variety of unpleasant symptoms on a daily basis, including but not limited to nausea, vomiting, severe anxiety, extreme tension throughout my entire body and inability to eat. I've tried a lot of different medications and I'm currently 3 weeks out from attending a residential program for an eating disorder. I've been seeing a somatic therapist to try and release some of this tension and have been pathetically getting back into yoga. I know that if I can't make the time for myself every day that I'm gonna be doomed to life of being so doped up that I don't really know what's going on around me. Help me convince myself to spend an hour a day with myself just noticing. Any tips or encouragement on how to get there would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Seeking Objective Evidence Correlating Chakra, Colors, and Notes. Posted: 30 Oct 2020 07:36 PM PDT Hey Yall :) The past 2 years I've gotten into Buddhism & meditation. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
I just don’t think I’m doing it right Posted: 30 Oct 2020 06:37 PM PDT There really isn't much to add. I did a meditation for help making a decision and it told me to float away and be at peace but I wasn't at peace, I was stuck. [link] [comments] |
