| Southern California Yoga confessional Posted: 19 Oct 2020 05:56 PM PDT I live in Los Angeles and recently made my return to in-studio yoga classes, which I haven't been in since March when the pandemic began. However, LA currently does not officially allow in-studio yoga along with indoor gyms, etc yet due to their standards. The only classes I could attend here take place outside, a few of which I did try over the past couple months. But in the past two weeks I have literally made the drive from the heart of LA all the way out to Orange Country and Ventura County just to attend a few classes because my studio, Corepower, has several of their locations out there open. It's a good hour drive I would say for me, depending on traffic, to get to some of these studios. I love my studio, even though it's corporate and a big chain. I know it's controversial to many. But as a fella in his 30s who hadn't done everything he could for his fitness in his earlier years, taking class their regularly had enormous positive benefits in my life. Mental/emotional calmness, muscle toning, weight loss....I have been able to achieve so much through the yoga. So when Covid came and all of the studios shut down, it was heartbreaking for me. Yes, I did and continue to do yoga at home, and realize that true yoga comes from within and in that I faced my greatest test in my journey. But after 8 months, I got curious about exactly when I'd be able to get back to class again...which is when I found out that many of the OC and Ventura studios had begun classes again. I believe Covid is real and that I am putting myself at risk even attending any kind of in-studio class. I am fully aware of this. That being said, holy cow does it feel good to be back in class! The studio is doing a great job with severely limiting the size of the class and taking as many precautions as they can and I'm glad to see that. You can't use the showers unfortunately, towel service is not happening and there are less classes overall to attend, but it's been so nice to do yoga with humans again. I mean, it feels, so damn good.... I can't believe I have been making the drive through LA traffic to get to my little comfort zone, but I have some wonderful sore muscles right now and a relaxed state of being that that have reminded me what I've been missing. I just wanted to come to this sub and relate how absolutely weird it is that I'm driving to random [link] [comments] |
| Looking for traditional yoga online streams Posted: 19 Oct 2020 07:41 AM PDT Namaste Yogis, TLDR: I'm looking not for "Yoga with Adriene" and more Indian-style traditional yoga sessions, either live or recorded. I've spent months travelling through India and looking to recreate that authentic experience at home in led practice. I'm looking for a traditional yoga practice online - similar to what you'd find in an ashram. I've been to one, been doing yoga for 20+ years and done even teacher training but I'm out of the loop now that covid hit. I want a traditional, led practice - Hatha, in the style we'd find in India and less of what we know as pop culture yoga. My most similar experience was led by a yoga practitioner who was in his 70s and the classes came in and out, ushered in on their timeline, proceeded to be led in practice (he was an Indian gentleman and brought in Hindu philosophy, meditation.. he was more nimble and in better shape than anyone!) and then after 1.5 hours, we gathered our things and quietly exited. The room held about 50. When I was at the ashram in India, a very similar experience. I'm looking for some meaningful practice by someone who stays as close to traditional yoga (Indian Hindu roots) as possible. Without boring you with the details, I know these communities offline and in my area. but online I'm struggling to find satisfying yoga internationally. I very much look forward to suggestions! | Always have sore hamstrings after yoga Posted: 19 Oct 2020 10:55 AM PDT Hi all! Hoping to get some advice... I've been practicing vinyasa yoga for years but over the last few months I've noticed a change. My hamstrings are always sore after practice! I'm not sure why? I've been really trying to be careful about over stretching since I noticed the pattern but it keeps happening. Anyone have this issue? What are some poses that might strain my hamstrings that aren't the typical pyramid pose, forward fold, standing splits, etc... [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 18 Oct 2020 11:25 PM PDT Hey guys, I'm wondering if there are any routines out there for creating a stronger and more balanced pelvic floor? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 19 Oct 2020 07:07 AM PDT I subscribed to curvy yoga today, wanted to know if anyone else has tried these classes, curious if they are a good starting point? [link] [comments] |
| Which yoga type is good before sleep? Posted: 19 Oct 2020 08:51 AM PDT Hi I'm super new here and just started yoga a month ago. I'm doing vinyasa flow every morning and it's so fresh and make my day easily! Now im looking for which yoga can be good right before sleep. Since I'm using Down dog I've tried Yin and Restorative and I think I'm more looking for whole body stretching but without warrior type of standing pose or chaturanga. Any suggestion will be super appreciated!! [link] [comments] |

| Guarding in the army this week! Posted: 19 Oct 2020 12:11 AM PDT Gonna be forced to stand for 50 minutes at a time, 4 hours of guarding twice every day. Any good yoga exercises for such conditions? Stuck in a small 3x3~ meter tower [link] [comments] |
| Performing with the Feetup Trainer? Posted: 19 Oct 2020 12:29 AM PDT To spread the word about how productive/helpful the Feetup Trainer has been with my handstand progress (along with how it helped a few of my friends who were impressed get to try some acrobatics), does anyone think it'd make for a good eye-catching performance, if I randomly began demonstrating poses with it in public like at a park?
