Ashtanga yoga: Floating Question |
| Posted: 05 Nov 2020 12:17 PM PST Hello ashtangis, I am currently working on my float through/ back, and I had a question about finger placement. This also applies to downward dog. For my entire practice I have been aligning my middle fingers parallel to each other, and it's worked well for me so far. However, I have noticed that a lot of "advanced" yogis have their index fingers parallel in down dog. My question is this- would you guys suggest continuing how I've been doing it with my middle fingers parallel, or should I make the switch to aligning my index fingers? [link] [comments] |
| What do you do on your ladies' holiday/period? Need ideas Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:05 AM PST Hi everyone, I am not asking about whether one should or shouldn't take off from practice during ladies' holiday/period. I think the subtle changes rendering practice unsafe/undesirable makes sense. I didn't used to take off before I had my son, but ever since going through pregnancy/birth, I really respect the feminine cycles and what periods indicate in most ancient contexts, rest and reflection. However, I do find my body gets a bit blah during the first 3 days off of ashtanga, especially during high vata time like fall. Other than meditating (which, would love recs on meditation practices) and maybe oil massage, is there some kind of interesting self care that other bleeding people do? I'm not averse to doing some kind of gentle stretching that doesn't engage bandhas. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
