Legs are in pain when I don’t stretch!!? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 04:32 PM PST Hi, I've been doing yoga for almost four years now & I do it morning & night most of the time. Sometimes when I do not stretch in the morning, my legs hurt really bad & I can only relive the pain by stretching.. why does this happen? Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Dec 2020 07:19 AM PST How long did it take you all to get where you wanted to be in your practice? I'm curious to hear some stories on your yoga journeys! [link] [comments] |
So one thing that really confuses me. Yoga testimonies Posted: 27 Dec 2020 12:26 PM PST Hey. First post here. I am probably not the first here to pick up yoga over the lockdown. If I am new to something I generally seek out testimony or experiences of people who do or tried the thing I fell in love with. That's just a weird quirk of mine. But now to my question. Why is the search term „yoga testimony" on YouTube absolutely flooded with Christians ( some of which call themselves ex yoga teachers ) condemning yoga to sinful devil worshiping magic. I just wanted to find some testimony of people who have tried yoga. tl;dr: what is the deal with the search term „yoga testimony" on YouTube. Edit: added ex to yoga teachers [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 06:08 PM PST hi!! seeing a lot of pincha posts lately and am itching to start practicing it! i'm not at a place to hold pincha (yet!) and want to start working on it. i don't really have any idea of where to start tho. what are the best prep poses/tips for starting to learn pincha? specific poses and then also specific things in said poses i should be mindful of (gaze, rotation, placement, weight distribution, etc.) for a safe and strong prep! Posted: 27 Dec 2020 05:16 PM PST Hey guys ,I am new here. My psoas muscles are very tight these days, I guess because of running. Can you guys suggest me some stretches to release the tension in my psoas muscles? I am 19. [link] [comments] |
Question about reverse table top Posted: 27 Dec 2020 12:51 PM PST As I get older, I notice that I'm having difficulty getting my hips up so that they are level with my knees in reverse table top, is that indicative of a lack of mobility or is it a lack of strength? If the latter, what muscles do I need to strengthen in order to be able to better lift up my hips in this pose and do you have any suggested exercises/poses for those muscles? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:25 AM PST I've been doing Iyengar Yoga for about 5 years now off and on ever since I started doing it in China after meeting my wife. I used to have debilitating shoulder, back, knee, and foot pain. Even my sleeping problems have slowly disappeared! So, I have a lot to thank yoga in this sense. But one thing that is almost absolutely insurmountable is the psychological barriers that always seem to swell up when I'm doing yoga. It feels a lot like concentration problems (which sometimes I have to put on something to listen to while I'm practicing for a bit until I don't feel like going crazy), but sometimes it goes much deeper than that. Sometimes, horrible, crippling memories from my high school and undergrad days come to the surface, and they make me want to squirm and almost cry/scream out loud. I've heard of this happening to people, but I've never heard anybody talk about how to face this problem. I feel like I can take the physical work that goes into practicing yoga, but what's really hard for me to face is the psychological feat of practicing consistently every day without feeling like I want to gouge my eyeballs out. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Do I absolutely need a yoga mat? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 03:33 PM PST I bought one a while ago but never got into it, and now I want to start trying. I have a job 7 hours away that I stay at for 2 weeks and I don't want to bring my yoga mat because there's limited space in the van already. Would I be okay leaving it behind and maybe using a towel? I'm going to be doing hatha yoga. [link] [comments] |

How to balance yoga & working out Posted: 26 Dec 2020 11:37 PM PST I'm new to yoga and I'm trying to figure out what's the best time to do these. Is it better to do it on a separate day? Is it better to do it on the same day? If it's the same day should I do my yoga before or after a workout? And what's the best time to do it or what's the time you prefer to do it? Waking right up or before sleep? Thanks. I just noticed something crazy rn. My body was aching so much. And it's understandable why. I weight 180 but during this quarantine I haven't been moving outside but I've been doing workouts but for some reason I always feel stiff and I don't feel my blood flowing. Well today I decided to try it for a simple ten mins and literally all the pain I had went away. I felt like a old dude to a kid in ten mins cause of yoga lol. And I'm not doing this out of fear because I always wanted to add this to my routine I was just lazy.- but now it's just added motivation. Just wanted to give a backstory :) can't wait to start my journey I'm very determined. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 11:00 AM PST I'm having trouble with getting my form right for reverse plank and I was wondering if anyone had any tips. I can't get my knees straight or my hips up far enough, and I feel like my weight isn't being distributed right. [link] [comments] |
How can I keep my back straight in down dog? :( Posted: 27 Dec 2020 03:38 AM PST I have tried but cannot figure a way out. Your help will be hugely appreciated by this noobie yogini.🥺 [link] [comments] |
Will yoga help spinal decompression? Posted: 26 Dec 2020 09:01 PM PST I work a desk job, I started a bit over a year ago. Just recently, my back has been cracking so much - multiple times a day. I was wondering if some yoga would help prevent this from progressing to something worse. I don't currently do yoga, would some basic, 10 min/day exercises be something that would noticeably improve the health of my sedentary work life? Any recommendations or advice I would love and take seriously. [link] [comments] |
