Just a little appreciate post for DownDog Posted: 03 Dec 2020 07:30 AM PST The app, not the position. If you haven't already, consider checking it out. It's really helped me to enjoy yoga again :) [link] [comments] |

Is there a yoga that would benefit someone coming off of a mostly year long bed rest? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 03:02 PM PST I don't want to share the reasons, afraid it'll come off as whinny. I've been in bed for a good chunk of the past year, like way more than most people I'd imagine. Now I'm trying to get back into working out but everything is stuff and tight, obviously lol. Just wondering if there YouTube video anyone knows of that would be helpful in ge6back to a healthy baseline of bodyweight strength and flexibility? Thank you so much [link] [comments] |

Having period makes me imbalanced. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 12:31 PM PST Is there any change in your balance while having period? Today is my first day and I just struggled to keep my balance doing yoga. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2020 05:30 AM PST I've been practicing yoga for a hand full of years. I have recently start to focus a lot of effort into kegels. It's been amazing. My whole pelvic floor is feeling stronger. Wanted to share this with the guys, do your kegels bros! Namaste https://yourpaceyoga.com/blog/what-is-a-kegel/ Good little read about yogaing your kegels. Breathing observation - satisfying exhale, stilted inhale Posted: 03 Dec 2020 03:08 PM PST My inhale never feels as satisfying or as long in duration as the inhale. Anyone else experience this and overcome it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2020 06:17 AM PST My yoga studio is very close to my work but not close to my house. Do any of you do yoga and then change for work? How do you clean yourself up if there's no shower in the bathroom at your studio? I have face wipes but that ain't gonna cut it for a sweaty session. Help me out! [link] [comments] |
Database of yoga poses and correct alignment? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:30 AM PST I hope this hasn't been asked before - I tried searching the sub and the wiki and couldn't find anything of this nature. I've recently started doing yoga again (I am still an absolute beginner) but this time I can't go to a studio and practice with a teacher and I have to do it on my own at home. So I really want to make sure I am doing the poses correctly and focusing on achieving the proper and safe form. I use the down dog app and sometimes youtube videos but not all teachers give full comprehensive instructions. I was wondering if anyone knows of any websites/online databases/books where you can look up a specific pose and see it explained in detail and with instructions on how to do it safely and what to keep in mind when doing the pose such as what muscles to keep engaged, what joints to be mindful of, what position the spine should be in etc. Usually I just end up googling a specific pose but I want to know if anyone has a specific resource they usually go to that is comprehensive and most importantly written by a knowledgeable person who is to be trusted. (For context, this question came about because I am struggling to understand the correct form for forward folds and half forward bend and whether my back should be straight or rounded or what. And that's not the only pose I have trouble understanding so I think a comprehensive guide would really help.) I appreciate your help! [link] [comments] |

Do I do Yoga right? Here's my Yoga routine... Posted: 03 Dec 2020 06:44 AM PST I had used an app called Daily Yoga (btw, if you're a beginner, I recommend it) and I had a few movements memorized. This is the order:
I meditate for 30s-1 minute (that's what I think) while at the same time I am standing and my eyes are open. I sometimes do child pose. [link] [comments] |
Beginner doubt - Can I do yoga first thing in the morning? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 06:37 AM PST I mean right after waking up and just having a glass of water and not eating anything. Not sure if empty stomach is a good idea or should I eat something first. If I should eat, what is the ideal time to wait after eating? Thanks <3 [link] [comments] |
Heavy/stifling energy around Heart centre intensifying after backbends!?!? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 08:25 AM PST Hi everyone!!! How are you?!?!!? I had a very blocked heart chakra from something happened in 2018 and a few days ago I started backbending again for the first time since then. During the backbending I felt an intense stifling heavy energy around my heart and tops of collarbones, almost unbearable. It wasn't crushing, just "there". I think it's metaphysical rather than physical, because it's been there and off since 2018- I can feel it there when I'm really sad, but conversely when I'm very happy or think about a certain somebody I can feel a light almost rising joyful physical sensation in the same area!? My q is, will it release any off energy that's there if I continue doing backbending!? I've been practised yoga for a long time but I've never felt physical "energies" in this way before. Does it mean it's coming up to be released?! Or something else? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2020 07:47 AM PST Hey all, I'm a relatively new beginner (about 2-3 months) and have had a wonderful experience with my at home practice thus far. I use down dog for my practice but I've noticed that I have some pain in the back of my left knee for poses that require bending it? Not necessarily stretching pain, but like a very tight and painful sensation. Since I've kept a normal regimen I think the pain has lessened, because it used to be unbearable even in simple poses such as child's pose. However, I'm concerned that I'm still feeling this pain in my left knee and no pain in my right for the same poses, does anyone know if this is from a lack of flexibility or should I speak to someone about it?
