For my cake day, I decided to document my current flexibility after losing so much to the quarantine couch sitting. Here's to a new year of stretching and meeting my goals by next cake day!

Just recently got my middle split. I never skip my training, if I ever postpone my routine training, it’s for 1-2 days.

How to improve pancake? I’ve been stuck here for a while. Even got my splits but this one?? Barely an inch improvement. What could be my limiter and how do I improve ?

    Calf Flexibility help

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 05:24 PM PST

Hi everyone, I'm 19 and I've been stretching for fun for a few years now, but I can't seem to improve my calf flexibility. I feel very tight inside of my calves close to my knee when I try to do a downward facing dog, and I can't even get my heels on the ground. I've tried googling a solution to this problem, but nothing online has helped me make any real progress. Could anyone direct me to some stretches to try and loosen up my calves? Please let me know if you'd like any more info. Thanks!

22yr Old w/ Severe Inflexibility- new yrs resolution get flexible

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 08:24 AM PST

I have the blessing of coming from a lineage of inflexibility. At a young age I remember always being incredibly inflexible. Being a life long athlete I have always been able to navigate these issues, lignoring and exuberating issues. After college and lack of athletic exposure (and a little weight gain:)), I have noticed how bad it is, I can barley put on my socks.

A little back story, in college I began to research my issues heavily from pelvic tilt to weak abs and glutes, extremely tight hamstrings and not being able to bend at the hips but rather the lower back. I have never been able to find the perfect solution. This is where I need your help, what programs resources would you recommend. Stretching is not easy for me and I struggle getting into yoga poses, this could be do to a lack of religious stretching but can never seem to get into a comfortable rhythm. Any suggestions are appreciated!

    Group Fitness Platform

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 06:07 PM PST

    Hi Reddit :)

Online workouts for yoga and pilates have become a huge part of my flexibility routine in the last several months — I've always found working out in group settings to be the most motivating and fun. But, I know the transition to online classes has been tough for some instructors, so I wanted to share an app I've been working on to help fitness/yoga instructors during the pandemic called Interval.com. We're a platform that allows you to host live group classes as well as upload and maintain an on-demand library. We handle everything from scheduling, to payment processing (can also easily set up memberships and class packs), to link sending, and even replacing Zoom for streaming. We can build you a custom website (with your own URL), or you can easily integrate our classes into your existing website! Each instructor also gets a custom designed Interval page.

I'm most excited about our streaming platform we built especially for group fitness, to replace Zoom/IG/FB. We're looking for beta users to try it out -- would love any feedback/thoughts as we work on it! We made it especially for studio experiences, and tried to include lots of thoughtful features + a nicer look and design than just the standard Zoom grid.

You don't have to sign any contracts or pay any minimum fees to use the product. If you or someone you know might be interested, send them to [kyle@interval.com](mailto:kyle@interval.com)! Or insta u/ksanok10. 😊

    Middle Split Stretches?

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 07:56 AM PST

    Hello!

I've been doing the blogilates Journey to Splits stretches for a few days and have seen some results. Does anyone have a middle split program i could do on top of this? I'm about an inch and half off the floor in my right split and two and half inches in my left split.

    Thanks!

Pushing assistance on the pancake, forward fold, and pike

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 11:27 AM PST

I'm pretty new to flexibility training, and now that the doctor has cleared me to start exercising again (light intensity) I figured I'd do some yoga/flexibility for a few weeks before I start hitting the weights again. I've found that I'm incredibly inflexible with static holds like the seated forward fold and pike (are they the same thing?) and my leg spread on the pancake is abysmal. Also like many beginners have posted in this sub, my back immediately starts to round at the top when I bend over. Trying to fix this by imagining a string is pulling my head to elongate my spine and then bend, but that causes my bend distance to about mid shin as opposed to my ankles.

Is is safe/recommended that I have a partner push my back on these folds (to a point where I feel comfortable/no pain) so that I can work on my inflexibility/get used to the motion pattern? Are there any other cues more experienced trainees would recommend to get better at these patterns of motion? How would you recommend I train these stretches for depth is a partner is not readily available?

I'm not overtly overweight, but my midsection is doughy so I feel like that limits my range of motion when I bend. Should I inhale/vacuum when I fold? And if so, how can I make sure that I anteriorly tilt my pelvis (or if I should even do so for the folds) when doing the stretch.

I've been going through Tom Merrick's and Saturno Movement's follow along YouTube videos for a week now and wanna make sure I'm learning correctly before I develop any bad habits. Any and all advice is welcome, thanks!

How can I get my butt to sit right in a straddle?

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 11:00 AM PST

Ok so over the last few years I've gone in and out of being pretty flexible or pretty inflexible (depends on how frequently I've been running I am always more flexible and patient with myself stretching after runs so I tend to do it more when I run consistently) Anywho, any time I sit in a straddle or legs wide I always feel like I'm sitting on my butt cheeks sorta tucked (sorry don't know how to describe it) and never been able to sit where I can bend at the hip, even when I can bend at the hip with my legs straight and touch past my toes Does anyone have any insights how to fix this? I never been able stretch my upper body down very far in a straddle because of this and I'd like to be able to do so but I literally cannot figure out how to reposition my Lower body so my butt isn't tucked under no matter how much I try to wriggle around and fix it

Also what's the best terminology to describe what I'm talking about above hahahah Thank you!!

Why do I have back pain when I stretch to try to touch my toes

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 06:21 AM PST

Everytime I try to work on my flexibility and stretch to touch my toes, I have intense back pain for some time. Why does this happen to me, is this common and what's the best way to prevent this?
