"Muddy water is best cleared by leaving it alone." - Alan Watts

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:39 PM PST

When I saw this quote I immediately thought of my own meditation practice. I tend to ruminate on ideas/problems and have been practicing taking a step back to give space and distance between myself the event/thought/feeling. I'm interested what other people's thoughts are surrounding this quote and how it might relate to their own meditation practice.

Also, I'm always looking for suggestions for becoming a better "observer" of my thoughts/feelings if anyone has any suggestions!

I hate my mom and love my dad now after meditation!

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 12:19 AM PST

I increased my sessions from around 20 minutes to 45 minutes or even 1 hour in one set. many things started to change as fast as speed of light. I became calmer during the day, way more relaxed, open minded and more of an adult in the way i see things. Also i experienced some painful memories and moments that i started to recall while going with my day, and those memories are annoying and i really feel that meditation is trying to let me face some hidden traumas instead of escaping from them. But one major benefit i got, which rarely i hear people talks about, that is self and other awareness. And man oh man, this almost flipped my life upside down! I used to love my mom all my life, and to hate my dad. Like i really don't even like talking to him, but now things started to go the other way!!! I started to see how selfish person my mom was, and how she always convinced me that my dad is the only evil in my life. She really convinced me that my dad is my biggest enemy and he is the one standing against me. Now i started to see my dad as a kind, friendly, funny person. I started to see him from a different corner or angle if i said it right. Like i feel that i'm seeing my family for the first time and i feel like i'm a different person now. Damn it if i knew how powerful would be taking this practice from 20 minutes to 1 hour! Why no one says about the amazing benefits that you get after you break the 40 minutes mark.

Confronting someone mentally during deep mediation?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 11:01 PM PST

While I was meditating, I begin to remember some childhood memories, like getting ice cream when i was 8yos, holidays with my family, my first birthday cake (when i was 3 years old), and all the good stuff basically. So I got deeper, I felt the presence of a teacher from not too long ago and I immediately shouted at her and confronted her about the unfair way she had treated me. She was silent...as if she had something else troubling her. I had confronted another person, someone who bullied me. He seems apologetic and told me that he's sorry. It kinda felt real to me, these experiences....i doubt I am really connecting with someone...

Is my mind making this up....? Does anyone else have similar experiences?

How much interest do people outside of Japan have about "learning Zen directly from Japanese monks?"

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 10:00 PM PST

Hello people. My name is Showgo and I'm currently living in Japan, and currently studying Zen directly from Zen monks. The teachings are fascinating and I love it very much. When I was in the states, it was impossible to be able to reach out to these teaching unless you search around the book store, but in Japan, temples and monks are pretty easy to get in touch with.

through this teaching, I'm trying to create an app that combines journaling and zen, and the structure of the app is a bit complicated to explain by word, but before I jump too much into it, I wanted to know how valuable is it to people outside of Japan to be able to get teachings directly from Zen monks in Japan?

    1. I need those teaching as soon as possible!
    2. If I can have access to it, it will be great.
    3. Don't need.

Let me know your choice and if you have the chance to explain the reason why, that will be great!

    Question about meditation :)

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 11:39 PM PST

So I know nothing of the feeling of being deep in meditation and was wondering if I'm doing it right or if this isn't it and I'm just in like a wake sleep thing. So I play 432hz music and lay down and eventually I end up feeling like I'm in a room or something it feels really familiar and just has good feelings sometimes I feel like I'm standing but usually I'm floating I can think in it and today I was seeing if I was asleep so I'd move like a finger or something to check and I also felt like I was getting information ?

If I need to go in more depth I can ✨

    Lucid dreaming

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 10:50 PM PST

Is lucid dreaming an ultimate sense of awareness? I ask that because you are technically pulling yourself out of your thoughts (dream state) which is basically awareness. But you are doing it even when your subconscious (sleeping)

I don't live in the present

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 06:55 PM PST

I'm new in meditation. So far, I've only fetched some information here and there on meditation, and came to the realization which is one of the reasons I feel anxiety, unrest and a permanent state of dissatisfaction almost all the time. I don't live in the present.

I've realized I'm unable to enjoy what I have, where I live or what I experience at the moment. I'm always fantasying/thinking how awesome would be to live in another country, How much I need my a toy that I will be able to buy in a couple of months, all the knowledge and skills I'll obtain once I stop procrastinate and actually start doing the courses.

Did anyone of you had this problem and managed to come around?

Looking to connect with like minded people

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 04:50 PM PST

    Hey guys

    Long term meditator here (on/off).

I'm looking to make connections with some like minded people who understand the value of meditation. I'm struggling with keeping up with the practice during lockdown etc. so would love some support as well.

I don't have anyone like that in my circle (it's mostly people who want to get smashed, or completely engulfed in their relationships etc. which is fine) so I'm looking to expand somewhat.

Thought I'd try on here :)

I'm a male based in London in my late 20s (maybe this explains why I only know people who want to get smashed?)

    Lmk!

An "of my chest" post: Not meditating causes me boredom. I meditate to eliminate boredom with life.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 07:46 PM PST

I will not speak for anyone else.

Life changes. Something at some point in my life led me to meditate. I had times of daily meditation and long periods of not meditating. I realized that sooner or later, without meditation, life becomes empty.

When I stop meditating I opt for a world of appearances. Of beautiful colors and more intense emotions. I enter this world little by little. Video games, food. That plan sounds good. Tasks, plans, work, study, arguments. All those things make me anxious. And anxiety seduces me. I'm responsible for having anxiety by choice.

I like anxiety and adrenaline. In part, I like suffering. Human learns through pain. Perhaps the soul grows and evolves from learning through suffering, and so I seek it out as an attempt to grow.

But those beautiful colors are tasteless. Those intense emotions and amusements are like empty shells. No video game, no candy, no pleasure, no hug, no love, no girl brings me happiness. At every corner of the illusion I find myself with the same question: Can any of this ever make me feel full? At every turn of the corner I find a disenchantment; a disillusionment.

I will not speak for anyone else. It is only my experience:

I have no one. I put my expectations on others, and then I get hurt because no one else meets my expectations. But they have their own wills, their own moods. Everyone in my life has let me down. Including my family. Friendship doesn't last forever. Nothing.

At the end of the day, I am left alone.

    I don't even have myself.

I'm losing interest in a life of non-meditation. Non-meditation accumulates in the form of boredom. I am accumulating boredom. An intense boredom for everything. Video games, meetings with friends, food, hobbies, arguments.

An intense boredom crushes me. I look for the way out in more hobbies and that causes me more boredom. I begin to suffer. Suffering becomes such, that I become aware of it. And I get out of the trap.

I sit down to meditate. Counterintuitive. Sit in silence, no activity. Sit in sadness. Sit in sadness and sadness is faded in the air. Sit in boredom and boredom is transformed. It goes beyond a transformation. I realize that, actually, the sensation that seemed to me to be an intense and deadly boredom is something else. It is something I was ignoring and repressing. But if I become aware of it, it is something else. It is something that makes me feel full, finally.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 11:16 PM PST

I been lurking in this forum for a while because I started to meditate towards the middle of last year. I noticed when I meditated I notice that time would finish with a 7 , so for example it could be 6:47 or 9:37 etc. The only thing is that I wasn't doing it on purpose either. So recently I didn't meditate for two months just because I was being lazy and weak minded so no excuses there. I just restarted today and sure enough the time I ended up finishing was 9:47. Could all just be a coincidence though ,not sure if you guys have the same experience or not!

My mind turned into a jellyfish and tried to leave my body.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 10:23 PM PST

I was lying here meditating with quarter sized piece of moldavite on my forehead. I put my body into a deep state of relaxation very quickly and go straight into my mind. I tell myself I want out and go deeper into my mind. I can feel my mind take the shape of a jellyfish a voice (intuition) tells me to swim so I'm pushing my tentacles but it isn't enough to break free, my heart is Jack hammering at this point. I notice my heart rate and seem to panic ( now know I'm lacking "equidity"?) My mind takes on the shape of a butterfly and gives a flew flaps of the wings before fading into blackness. I open my eyes and say out loud, "yeah yeah I'm not going anywhere you stupid hunk of meat." While patting my chest and slowing my heart rate. I can't give myself a heart attack right? Has anyone ad similar experiences?

How to Achieve a Meditative Life?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 10:05 PM PST

Meditation in english is an all encompassing phrase. It refers to focussed consideration (Dhaarna) which is a preparation in the direction of a state of no thought and the state of no thought -Meditation (Dhyaan) and to a state of maximum bliss and ecstasy -Enlightenment (Samaadhi).

Meditative frame of mind is taken into account the very best attainable psychological state. When life turns into meditative there's hardly any distinction between seated meditation and the remainder of the life expertise. We should always attempt to obtain this state so that you simply stay undisturbed even within the midst of life's unrelenting pressures.

The preparation to a meditative frame of mind is written so fantastically by Patanjali in his yoga sutras. A correct blue print has been given for this referred to as RAJYOG.

Manan means to confirm that along with your wisdom by observe.

    ASANA

Any posture that causes ache or restlessness just isn't a yogic posture. A posture that offers excessive sense of enjoyment to you is the fitting posture for you. This posture has the ability to take you to divine.

    PRANAYAM

Prāṇāyāma is the management of the breath, from the Sanskrit prāṇa (प्राण, breath) and āyāma (आयाम, restraint). Breath management implies that with out your permission, breath can't enter or exit. When we have now this degree of management then we are able to select our time of death and lengthen our life span based on our want.

    PRATYAHARA

Pratyāhāra is a mix of two Sanskrit phrases prati- (the prefix प्रति-, "towards" or "contra") and āhāra (आहार, "deliver close to, fetch").Pratyahara is drawing one's consciousness inside. It's a technique of retracting the sensory expertise from exterior objects. It's a step of self extraction and abstraction. This occurs to the seekers very naturally. After we comply with any observe and go deep in our observe, there'll come a degree when the internal being will free all needs within the exterior world and its focus will flip inwards. It would realise that each one issues stem out from inside. The exterior world is a mirrored image or projection of what's taking place inside us. So, why hassle with the projection, work with the projector.

    DHARANA

To deliver the multi-tasking thoughts to focus in a single place is Dharana. The thoughts could be fastened on a mantra, tantra or yantra, or one's breath/navel/tip of tongue/anywhere, or an object one desires to look at, or an idea/thought in a single's thoughts. You'll be able to choose no matter you want. That is the working towards of controlling the thoughts. The thing of focus ought to be pleasing to you else you'll lose focus.

    DHYAAN

Dhyana (Sanskrit: ध्यान) actually means "contemplation, reflection, meditation". Dhyana is considering, reflecting on no matter Dharana has targeted on. If within the sixth limb of yoga one targeted on a private deity, Dhyana is its contemplation. If the focus was on one object, Dhyana is non-judgmental, non-presumptuous statement of that object.

    SAMADHI

Samadhi is oneness with the topic of meditation. There is no such thing as a distinction, in the course of the eighth limb of yoga, between the actor of meditation, the act of meditation and the topic of meditation. Samadhi is that religious state when one's thoughts is so absorbed in no matter it's considering on, that the thoughts loses the sense of its personal identification. The thinker, the thought course of and the thought fuse with the topic of thought. There's solely oneness, samadhi. All the things dissolves into void (Shunya).

Many individuals obtain this state after which return to the physique with this consciousness that they're VOID, they're nothing and they're every part. This makes them conscious of their true state of being that they're para Brahma – supreme being. Then they stay their life as God. In India, we name them as sages and saints and generally award the title of GOD as they've touched their GODSELF. However, everyone seems to be able to this after which life itself turns into meditative as you reside life figuring out your true self.

This turns into similar to an actor taking part in a task of a personality. The actor being God and the character being human.

Meditation of Food and Water. Enhances energy. Actionable Post

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:16 PM PST

There's so much work and so less happiness. Numbness and feelings of crisis are widespread.

You may or may not get many things. Life will always seem like a roller coaster. How to be back in sync again? This meditation works easily and deeply.

    Conditions required:

    1. Food of your liking. Good clean water at the temperature you like.

    2. No online streaming service please. This includes TV,smartphones,Music systems/digital gadgets too. They shall be kept in off/flight-mode/silent non-vibrating mode. It helps you go deep with the meditation.

    3. For initial 7 days, it would be better to eat/drink in one's own company. No talks at the table ,helps you grasp the meditation.

    4. Good comfortable clothing. It keeps your attention towards the path.

    5. Your Body feeling Hunger/thirst.

    Steps:

    1. Take some water in the choice of utensil. Hold it in your hands. And bring it close to your lips. Feel the coldness/warmth of water about to reach you.

2.As you are drinking water, you must have been thirsty. Now drink it slowly.

Feel the warmth/coldness of water on your lips.

Feel the warmth/coldness in your mouth.

Feel the warmth/coldness on your tongue.

Feel the same feeling in your throat.

Feel it gliding down and feel the warmth/coldness of water.

Feel the same feeling when the water reaches your stomach.

This should spruce you up for the next step.

    1. Depending on your state of awareness and thirst, just at the moment ,when water reaches your mouth or when water reaches your stomach, a satisfaction arises.

It immediately felt good. It provided a certain relief. It provided a certain satisfaction. This is it .

Stay with this feeling. Submerge in this feeling.

And you will see, this feeling becomes a wave. You can feel it originating from your mouth or stomach. You can feel it travelling to your whole being. It spreads at a slow speed and in general takes 2 minutes to fill all of you.

Let it rise and reach all of you. Feel the satisfaction everywhere inside you. Feel it in your feet. Feel it in your hands. Feel it in your eyes. Feel it everywhere.

Similarly, you can use it for food. Just chew the food slowly.

It's complete. Keep drinking/eating. Keep feeling. Keep staying with the feeling of satisfaction. Keep observing it spreading like a wave to all of your being.

    How does it work?

What you give attention to, it gets resurrected. Just because you had the food/water in an organic way, it will get activated. As it gets activated, it provides more satisfaction. The more satisfying peace brings you more energy.

Within one moon cycle( a cycle is 14 days new moon to full moon is preferred), you will see how you've changed.

    You will feel more energy.

    You will feel more joy.

And this joy cannot be contained. It will spread to your work/love and everything.

Do it continuously for 90 days. And you've done it.

Note: once you've mastered it, then even when you are in public, do this meditation while eating/drinking. Nobody will get to know. Just don't use your phone or talk while eating/drinking.

Keep me posted. I would love to hear your joy.

Much love and peace to you
