2 month middle split progress - Dec 28 to March 1. Little by little!

I'm in PEP Squad, but due to the pandemic wasn't able to train for almost a year now. So glad I was re-introduced to yoga. So far, this is my first week on doing Bird of Paradise. Still working on getting my balance and flexibility back.

Noticed huge progress after some time off!

After 2 weeks off, I started my front split routine again and after being mad at myself for taking a break I was actually surprised to notice that I improved!!!! This absolutely made my day because I did not expect any progress at all. If anything, I expected to lose some flexibility.

If you had to stop your stretching for whatever reason and feel bad about slacking, don't! You may be surprised what your body is capable of.

Let me share a quick relaxing trick. Do Boat pose and then lie down in Shavasana and count for 11 deep breathes. Do 3 rounds of this procedure. Guranteed results. And if you are interested in learning how to do Boat pose then follow the video below.

Anyone know a good warmup before stretching? Mines doesn't warm me up that much and I'm trying to get the splits and I don't want to end up hurting myself

Front slipts, when to put knee on floor?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 03:13 AM PST

    Hi!

I am currently making great progress in my front splits. Still long to go tho.

I have a simple question, in the actual split stretch, I currently have the balls of my feet on the ground, standing on my toes. I know that once I can fullt go into split, I will have the top of my feet on the floor, and also the knee. How close to the split should I be when I start stretching with my foot the other way around? And should I keep my knee on the floor as well (even if that means my back leg isn't full straight) or should I push up from my foot, like you do in upward dog?

Thank you for the advice :)

    Piriformis syndrome and reduced flexibility

    Posted: 02 Mar 2021 12:56 AM PST

    Hi,

I've recently suffered piriformis syndrome due to long hours working from home at a desk. I currently follow the P90X programme which has stretching before/after workouts plus a long yoga workout and a Sunday stretch routine.

I'm doing much more that I ever did as a runner.

I'd like to work on opening my hips more, has anyone any advice on where to start please?

    How to Pancake

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 11:08 PM PST

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to pancake? As in, what muscle groups are used to lower yourself down with a flat back. Are feet flexed or pointed? Im not entirely sure how to get fully down, but I feel like if I knew the right muscle groups, it'll help me a bit more
