Any good youtube videos to lead you through a stretching routine?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 06:29 PM PST

I used to be extremely flexible because my dance teacher would lead us through a long stretch routine. It's been years and I don't remember anymore. Does anyone have youtube videos they follow along with to lead you through stretches?

    Flexibility for pole dancing

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 06:14 PM PST

I took my first pole fitness class the other day. I had a blast! However, it made me realize how inflexible I am. For instance, sitting with my legs outstretched trying to do a v sit and I can maybe get barely a 90 degree angle? If that makes sense. Also, when sitting like that, I can't really sit up straight. I need to be against something or I get fatigued. That may be more of a strength issue.

So I'm wondering if anyone has experience with pole fitness and could tell me which muscles I should really focus on stretching.

    Tights pecs?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 06:19 AM PST

How do I know if my pecs are tight? If they are, what are the best stretching exercises that are shoulder-safe?

    My middle splits routine

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:50 AM PST

Hello, I am about 3-4 inches away from the splits and I was wondering if this will get me there. The first 5 minutes I do hamstring stretches and then my hip stretches are butterfly for a minute, sumo for a minute, and frog pose for a minute. After all that I hold my splits for 30 seconds and then go deeper for another 39 seconds. Is this a solid routine for getting the middle splits?

Is intense stretching of the spine bad for you in the long run?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 11:50 AM PST

I've been stretching my spine to try and achieve a needle for the past 8 months or so. I can now do a scorpion, but im worried i might be injuring my back in the long run. Whenever i stretch, my back and shoulder blades crack (not the soft, usual kind of cracking) and after stretching my lower back hurts a lot. When i make any sudden movements my back makes really worrying sounds. This only happened after i started intensity stretching

Is this normal and im just being paranoid, or should i stop? No one in my family is remotely flexible so i dont really have anyone to ask

What was the neck muscle stretched?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 11:40 AM PST

This pandemic really weakened and stiffened my body as my day starts and ends in front of my laptop. I woke up earlier with a really stiff posterior triangle, so I tried a lot of stretches using my back roller. Then I found one stretch that really hit the spot as demonstrated in this picture:

    https://imgur.com/P26Iu3F

What happens here is that my chest is protruded by the back roller, my hand holds on to the pillow, and my neck is stretched. I felt a blunt pain on a nerve like when you stretch a very stiff muscle after years of inactivity. This stretch relieved A LOT of tiredness from my body and it felt life-changing. I felt a sudden rush of blood through my head where my tension headache usually occurred frequently, my clavicle tightness was relieved, my vocal chord felt stretched as well and I can breathe more freely, and my spine T2-T6 felt relieved from tightness.

May I ask what could have possibly been tight on my neck?

    Thank you so much

PS: I was doing wrestling and BJJ before so I think this caused my neck to really become still together with heavy back pack straps in school

Does increasing muscle mass reduce flexibility and range of motion?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 02:18 AM PST

I've been looking online about this and I couldn't find a clear answer. I understand that training your muscle and increasing your strength in a proper manner could even increase your flexibility, but what about the increase of muscle mass? I read that having more muscle would limit the range of motion for your joints, but is this true? Obviously, you wouldn't suddenly be incapable of doing full splits as you previously have just because you had a couple pounds extra muscle mass, but would there be an extra level of difficulty? Especially since there are bodybuilders with extremely large and muscular bodies who couldn't touch their backs and stuff. So yeah, just wondering if there is more to the story and I'll be thankful to anyone who can provide sources too.
