[COMP] Aww, you can not imagine what you can do. Today I can hold up to one minute now. Big surprise.

I completely lost it during yin yoga today.

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 04:19 PM PDT

I won't bore with the details. But I've had a really shitty time for the last year or so. A lot of not focusing on myself when I should and a whole lot of just feeling generally terrible.

I haven't done yin in a while. I was reminded that it exists when my physical therapist told me that yin could help with my problem I'm seeing her for. I turned on a class for sciatica and lower back pain (not exactly my problem but the same general area) and at some point during supported child's pose the tears started and wouldn't stop.

Now I just feel raw and weird.

    CPTSD and yoga suggestions?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 06:19 PM PDT

I'm working on recovery from CPTSD and would like to start a daily yoga practice. For decades I have had tension in my neck, shoulders, hips and jaw that never ever releases. Would love recommendations for Yoga with Adriene videos that would help with this. I'm in an isolated area and don't have access to classes. Any suggestions at all will be very appreciated. Thanks!

Why am I so cheap?! (A yoga related rant)

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 05:43 PM PDT

I ordered a yoga bolster from Yoga Accessories dot com (not sure if I'm allowed to put the actual link) because I didn't want to spend $80-100 at a more reputable, well-known company. I spent around $40 instead. Seemed like a great deal! Well, the bolster arrived today and omg it smells horrible. HORRIBLE! It smells like it's been in a musty basement filled with nothing but dirt and burlap for decades. It's awful! Now, not only can I not use it but, I'm going to have to spend almost the same amount to ship it back. I'm basically going to be out the same amount I would've spent on the more expensive bolster. Lesson learned!! Sorry, I had to get this off my chest, and possibly give someone a heads up if they're thinking of purchasing from this company.

Is it possible to create a difficult yoga routine that does not involve standing?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 04:34 PM PDT

I really like yoga. Iyengar yoga was one of the first physical disciplines I every studied. However, I have a form of soft-tissue arthritis that affects the tendon attachment points in my feet.

That means that standing makes my arthritis worse.

Is it possible to develop a physically challenging yoga routine that does not involve standing?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 07:18 PM PDT

Okay, dont ask for details but I cant really practice yoga at home and I was wondering if anybody has ideas of where I can practice indoors privately somewhere else. Im thinking of a cheap storage unit, but id love an idea that's free

Too much pressure in hand when doing side plank

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 04:38 AM PDT

I am trying to understand how to relieve some of the pressure on the heels of my palms when I do side plank or any other positions that put a lot of weight on the hands. I have heard that you are supposed to grip with your fingers or something about a horseshoe but I don't actually understand how this works.

Update: all this advice is amazing! Thanks! I'll try these techniques out during my practice tomorrow :)

Twinge in lower mid back transitioning between updog into downdog

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 11:57 AM PDT

This is something new that's been happening to me and I wonder if anyone has advice on protecting my back.

When I transition out of upward facing dog into downward facing, a couple times I've gotten a twinge in my mid or lower back. I'm now very tentative about that transition now, but I was wondering what I can focus on to avoid injuries.

    Thanks!

    Cleaning Jade Yoga mats

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 09:10 PM PDT

I just thought I'd throw out a tip since if you have a Jade mat, you probably know that every little thing loves to stick to its glorious surface.

Enter: hand vacuum. I just have a cheap $20 that I bought for cat litter, but it works brilliantly to suck up any dirt and fuzz on my mat. I usually vac it up after my practice to get any grime and cat hair off, but sometimes before too because having a dirty mat is really distracting to me

    recommendations for yoga mat strap?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:27 PM PDT

    hi yogis :)

looking at the options for available yoga mat straps I'm curious to hear reviews between the type that velcro together vs. the type that have loops of strap to hold the mat- do the loops actually hold mats securely? the velcro seems more sturdy but is the noise factor too much?

    any tips/shops/suggestions appreciated!

Advice for a yogi ten months in?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:33 PM PDT

Ok so I've been doing this for a while now. I'm trying to get good at splits and I'm getting closer with months of practice but I still struggle trying to get like my stomach/ core area I believe that is on the ground or close to it. What exercises should I be doing to get that flexibility? Thanks in advance.
